DEREK HALES

I opened my eyes and everywhere was dark.

I was in front of a house, it wasn’t particularly a house anymore because the house had been burnt beyond repair with half of the sides almost falling down.

What happened here? I walked to the front door, turned the knob, and opened the door; leaves came flying at me because of the wind I raised my hands to cover my face because of the dust, the wind was too much I had to close the door behind me.The floor creaks with each step I took forward, it seems as though the it could not hold my weight.

The light from the full moon shone through the room and everything and everywhere were in ruins.

I continued to walk around the house, trying to figure out where I was. I noticed a room with a door.

Every room had been completely destroyed by fire. How could this room still be perfectly fine?

I opened the door and walked in; everything in the room was fine, as if the fire did not get in; the bed at the edge of the wall, the wardrobe, and the dressing table were all intact. I walked over to the table and picked up the picture frame on it, and when I looked down, there was a boy smiling with a woman next to a man, and girl almost as big as him.

“She looks exactly like my sister Laura”.

How can I not recognize that gummy smile she makes when she wants to beg for something? I returned my gaze to the small boy in the frame, wondering if he was me. I seem so happy here, and the man next to the woman looks so much like me that I assumed they were both my parents.

I turned to look at the room again, but everything seemed to change, the room seemed so scary now that I felt something else was in the room with me lurking at the dark corner waiting to pounce on me, I felt a cold shiver down my spine, I quickly dropped the picture and ran towards the door, opened it, and ran out but instead of the burnt ruined house I found myself in the forest.

“Where am I? I thought again, as I tried to find my way around my sister called my name”.

“Derek”!! Where are you? You are running so fast I can’t keep up with you.

“Laura”, I said hoping it was real and it was really her voice I heard she quickly appeared in front, panting and sweating.

Let’s go back home, we have been training for a long time, Mum and Dad will start getting worried.

“We have a mum and dad? I said”, still trying to figure out what’s happening.

”Are you all right?” Why did you run so fast, you left me behind trying to show you can outrun me huh!

We both started walking back home, as we got closer we saw everywhere was on fire and everything was burning down, many of our packs and some people from different packs laid died on the floor

We both started running towards our house as we got closer, Our house was burning down . The fire was so much we couldn’t get in without burning too. I could hear screams coming from inside, I could feel the pains in their screams.

Laura was screaming and crying so hard that some people stopped her from running towards the fire, while others tried to put out the fire but it seemed like every time they poured water, the fire grew increased.

“ Stop, I walked towards one of them trying to pour more water into the fire. I sniff the water and it reeks of oil. They poured oils into our water knowing we would try to use it to put out the fire”. How could they not have known there was oil in the water? What is wrong with their nose? We could smell someone from miles away but can’t perceive this”.

I rushed towards the window and started trying to pull out the burglary proof out, as i looked into the fire I saw my Dad lying in the pool of his own blood with half of his legs burning while my mom was trying to put out the fire on his body while she was burning badly herself, while my remaining family and the maids were all running around screaming and burning.

"They weren't even attempting to open the windows; it was as if they couldn't get close to the window." Something was wrong, but I couldn't figure it out.

Our Luna was on fire, my mother wasn't even trying to flee; it was as if she had accepted their fate.

"Mom! Mom! Mom!" I screamed, and she turned to face me, instead of running towards the window, she raised her hands and made the run sign.

My hands were badly burned from the fire, but I was not giving up until I saved my mother and everyone else.

I was still trying to pull the irons out and screaming for my mother when I saw her fall down the fire was too much for her and she was already badly burned.

She morphed into a werewolf and howled loudly. It was like a command, and I felt cold shivers down my spine as everyone rushed up to me and began pulling me away from the fire.

I was still gripping the irons tightly when I saw her collapse and transform into a human. She was severely burned, and I couldn't recognize her. I was still screaming when they managed to drag me away. As they dragged me away, a section of the roof collapsed.

I let out a loud howl, and I felt stronger, as if a surge of power was coursing through my veins. I wasn't expecting it to be so painful.

My body pounded with pain, my brain pounded against my skull, and blood rushed through my veins. I let out another howl and knelt, my hands spread wide.

”My eyes fluttered open, and I could feel the color of my eyes shift from Green to Red.”

My vision blurred as if I were underwater, and foggy shapes moved around me as my eyes adjusted to the changes.

“No,no… It can't be, I'm not an Alpha yet."

Being an Alpha now means that my father has passed away, and I have been chosen as the next in line to lead the pack.

I howled loudly, and the survivors of my pack howled back, as if they realized I was now the Alpha.

"I transformed into a full werewolf and ran towards the forest, unprepared for anything, I kept running until I got close to Whitewolf territory, arrows flew at me, I tried to dodge them, but one hit me."

I became weak, my eyes gradually losing their color.

"Wolfsbane," I said before collapsing.

I howled loudly and opened my eyes, shivering and shaking as I clenched my ribs. I was awake, but not in the forest, but in my room. While I was dreaming, my room door opened, and Atena, my fiancée, opened the door. Do you have another nightmare? She said this as she walked over to my bed and sat down.

" I'm fine." I stood up, picked up my shirt, put it on, and walked towards the door, leaving her behind.

“Fortunately, she did not pursue me.” I opened the door, transformed into a wolf, and ran into the woods.

I started running towards the territory of the White Wolf. Anyone I find dies tonight, and my plan for vengeance must be carried out flawlessly tomorrow.

LYDIA MARTINI need to sleep, I need to sleep.I kept repeating the words again and again. Maybe if I chanted it long enough, it would come true. My eyes couldn’t shut shut. Instead, they were shining brightly. I kept blinking while staring into the darkness."I'll be 18 tomorrow, and my father is throwing a party to celebrate, and I'll finally meet my Mate." I'm curious about who he will be; have I met him before? Will he be from the White Wolf pack too?I really don’t want anybody from my pack to be my mate. They all treated me badly, even though I was the princess. My father, the King, made it clear to everyone that he did not love and cherish me, which made me an easy prey.I want someone I haven’t met before to be my mate I said, talking to myself. My mind spun as thoughts tumbled around half-formed as I pinched my eyes shut, thinking it would help me fall asleep. I tried to ignore those thoughts, but they persisted. I wish my mother could be here to witness my coming-of-age cerem

“Lydia, you look so pretty!” Mel squealed. Mel is my personal maid, and even though I doubt if her love for me is genuine, sometimes I do know she cares about me unlike every other person here.I looked in the mirror one more time, and I couldn’t help but agree with her. The dress was a nude color, and it was completely covered in sparkles. It was hand crafted and took a year to complete. It is my 18th birthday today, which means tonight I will find my mate. I can’t help but think of an intruder I met in the forest, should I inform the guards about the strange incident. No, I won't, that will only cause more problems for me. If my dad discovers that one of the Silverback packs attacked us yesterday, he might hand me over to Peter right before the feast, and I plan to escape today after the feast."Come on Lydia, let's go downstairs," Mel said, stretching her hands to me. I smiled softly and took her hands in mine. I heard my father's voice from behind as we walked downstairs."Oh Lyd

When I walked in, the ritual dancing was still going on. These women are incredible. Mel and I jumped right in. When people noticed I was already dressed in the white traditional dress, they began clapping again until Gamma, our clan's oldest woman, called me to the center. When I got to the middle, they were all singing and touching my head and feet, and I tried hard to pretend I knew those songs as well. Mel tried to teach me, but no matter how hard we tried, I couldn't get it. Just like when Isaac also tries to teach me how to fight I still fail and most times I go home with a deep cut. Why am I unable to learn anything? Though Isaac is a bully and uses his position as a coach to bully me, I'm not sure why he doesn't like me, but no one loves me. As I was deep in thought, I felt water splash on my face, Gamma put more water in her mouth, and before I knew what was going on, she spat the water from her mouth back into my face. I had never attended this ritual before, so I was un

I opened my eyes slowly and found myself in a dark room, my heads and legs tightly bound together. I couldn't move. What am I doing? I wanted to rest my back, so I fell down the back of my head and landed on the hard ground. "Ouch," I said as I rolled over to the other side of the wall. I sat up and took a look around. This room was so dark that I couldn't see my hands. I sat in the corner, wondering what had happened and if everyone was okay. Mel, I'm wondering where she is because she is the only person I truly care about. I sat in the dark corner for what felt like an hour just thinking and trying not to cry. My body shook from the cold, and every time I moved, a part of me screamed in protest. There was no part of my body that was not in pain. I clenched my teeth and looked around again, hoping that I had missed something and that I would find it this time. In this place, I couldn't make anything out. I cringed, wrapping my arms between my legs, at the sudden sharp pain in my

At least when it comes to my father, I never had to endure his cold and intrusive stare for a long time because it was always immediately accompanied and overpowered by his equally cold and harsh words. Truly, I had not. But my wretched eyes had been far too slow to look away. And what a sight I had seen!I tried to calm my nerves, but it seemed that the more I tried to forget what I saw, the more clearly I remembered everything.Lady Marithyda, the Senior maid, had ordered me to clear the room down the hallway. I was met with two doors when I reached the end of the hallway, so I decided to go with the one on my right. I opened the door and walked into the almost-dark room. I smelled a familiar scent in the room, and it pulled me in.I began to scrub the floor, even in the dark. "Don’t touch anything!" Lady Marith

The guard sneered and hung back in the hall as I strolled cluelessly around. The Blackwolf territory is extremely cold compared to the Whitewolf territory; it was known for its cold climate and plethora of evergreen forests. Although everyone was banned from speaking of the Blackwolf packs, most of the elders of my pack often joked about sending extremely stubborn children to the Blackwolf territory and telling them they were going to freeze to death and the ghosts of the Blackwolf pack were going to haunt them. It worked because most of them changed for the better. Now that I am in Blackwolf territory, I can confirm it’s a really cold place to be, therefore all of its buildings were built solely from intricately carved wood and fur. Swirling beams crisscrossed the steepled ceiling, enormous stained glass windows filtered through speckled orange sunlight, towering fires raged in grated hearths along the walls, and at the far end of the hall there was a painting of a man and a woman.
