Chapter twenty-three

The officer raised an eyebrow as he said, “Let me get this straight, she’s actually missing?” His eyes darted back and forth from the picture of Sunny to her best friend Judy.

“Yes,” Judy said, her fingers intertwined together as she played with them. With her nerves taking control, she anxiously gnawed on her bottom lip, letting out a sigh and desperately wishing for a feasible solution.

“We can’t call this a missing person’s case,” the officer said, watching as the nervous look on Judy’s face turned to a frown

“Why not?” With a tilt of her head, Judy recalled the warnings she received from multiple people to hurry to the station before the missing case escalated to a murder case. However, he now insists that it cannot be classified as a missing person’s case.

The officer pushed the picture back to Judy and explained, “Because she’s an adult, she has the freedom to stay away for as long as she desires.” She stared at him like he was speaking gibberish
