KELIEGH

"I'm pregnant Jake…" i said, on the verge of tears. "I'm pregnant with our baby."

My intention was to delay the good news for as long as possible, then surprise him at the right time. But I couldn't stop myself from spilling the tea the second i saw the love of my life. Even though i didn't get the "delay" part right, from the look on his flawless face, the Alpha of the Moonlight pack was beyond surprised.

Jake and I had been secretly dating for well over two years now, and even though he wasn't my fated mate, i was head over heels for my blue eyed king. Our packs weren't exactly on the best of, and my father had always been against our 'relationship', but that's exactly why the news of my baby made me buzz inside… literallt. I would finally be able to—

"Are you sure it's mine?" He said, puncturing my tyre of happiness almost immediately. The joyous look on my face sunk, and I took another glance at the demeanor Jake had on. His eyebrows were relaxed, and his lips assumed an almost neutral position. His expression wasn't one of surprise at all. It… it was one of indifference.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I got up from my bed and didn't even bother slipping my feet into my slippers when i looked at him. "We've been dating for two years now. Who's kid would it be?" I bit back, audibly upset. Jake, however, wasn't moved in the slightest. As a matter of fact, he didn't even look moved by my discontent. "Hello? I'm talking to—"

"How're you sure you're really even pregnant?" He flung the test results at me like it were any other sheet of paper. Besides, even if you're pregnant, the daughter of my enemy could never bear my child" he tilted his head to the side and pointed at me. "That's not my kid."

Even though my heart wanted to assume that it was Jake being "Jake" again, his words flushed me of all possible hope. Jake was fond of being a little harsh sometimes, but i overlooked it on many occasions. I presumed that the animosity he had towards my father often spilled over on me, so i often turned a blind eye to it. This, however, far surpassed anything he'd done before

"Tch" i hissed, forcing myself not to cry while i squeezed my gown. "This is some sort of sick joke right?" I lifted my head back up and looked at him. "You didn't remember we were sworm enemies when you slept with me!" I barked, overtaken by anger in a millisecond.

"Lower your voice, or you're gonna get yourself in trouble" he still didn't act moved by the news. "Does your dad know about this?"

"Why the hell are you asking me such a stupid question?" I replied, even louder. "I called you here to share the news, and this is how you react?" I was starting to lose control of my breathing. My heart was already beating out of my chest.

"I'm guessing that's a no" he walked closer. "For your sake, get rid of that thing before it complicates what's already—"

I didn't hesitate. Not for a single second, when i slapped the words straight out of his mouth before he could get it out.

"How dare you?" I muttered, already tearing up. "How dare you—"

He returned my slap with a nasty backhand of his own, and struck me so hard across the face, i went numb for a second. "You dare lay your hands on me!" He thundered, and let off his aura almost instinctively. "You worthless insect" i saw him raise his hand once more. "You're lucky i didn't kill you the first time we—"

"Get off my daughter!" The door to my locked room broke of its hinges, and in flew my father. I wasn't sure whether he'd been hearing what had been going on, but from the look on his face, he probably didn't care one bit. He pounced on Jake without a second thought, and went on "kill mode" almost instincively. "You spinless rat. Did you really think I wouldn't catch your scent from a mile away? I'm gonna kill you!" Just before he could swat a fist full of dagger-like nails in Jake's direction, the 6'2 dodged the attack and wriggled underneath my dad, then got back up to his feet.

My father wasn't planning on stopping anytime soon though.

"Know you limits old— hey, get off me" Jake was suddenly swarmed by almost an army of gammas and omegas from my pack, all under my Father's command. "Get off me. I said, let go!"

A powerful right straight landed straight on Jake's gut, and pummelled a couple balls of blood right out of his mouth. "You made a mistake by coming here" my dad lifted his Jake's head up by his neck-long Brown hair. "I'm gonna finish what your father started!"

He was about to land yet another powerful attack when I screamed at the top of my lungs. "I'm pregnant!"

I'd closed my eyes and covered my ears with my palms when i hurled it. The entire room seemed to stand still when i said, and the moment i lifted my eyelids, my father had turned to look at me. Now that… was a look of surprise.

"I'm pregnant with his baby, dad" i said, this time engulfed in tears.

"What?" My father muttered, walking over to me… shellshocked. "That… that's not possible" he shook his head. "It's simply not true. Tell me you're lying. Tell me you're lying Keliegh!"

"I'm not" i broke down and fell to the floor. "I'm in love with him dad. I know i shouldn't be. I was hoping the news of my pregnancy would sort this all out. But it's already blown up in my face. Please stop. Please just… just stop" i said, already a mess.

My mind was all the over the place, and i had no idea what to do. My legs were shaking, my hands were weak, and my face was already bruised with tears. It'd been a while since i felt like this, but the feeling never did disappear, did it?

Keliegh Storm… the weak link.

The room lit up once more, this time with murmurs, and my heart raced even faster. My tears were already dimming my vision, but the moment i wiped them off, steadying myself as i prepared for my dad to unleash his wrath, i saw his hands stretch out to me.

"Dad?" I muttered, raising my head up to look him in the eyes.

"It's alright, Keliegh" he forced up a smile, and i was shaken to my bones.

"W… what? Y… you don't hate me?" I whispered, taking his hand, and lifting me up to my feet.

"Hate you?" He chuckled. "You're my daughter, my only child. Why would I hate you?" He said, and i wanted to break down even more. "Do i detest that pig?" He turned back to look at Jake, seething in anger but still pinned down. "Blatant yes! But I love you. I'll accept you, even if you're the mother of—"

I didn't wait for him to finish before forcing a warm embrace. "I'm sorry dad. I'm so sorry" i cried, but he only patted my back in response.

"You'll be fine, sweetheart. You'll be fin—"

"Oh, give me a break, Raphael" Jake addressed my father by his first name, breaking us out of our hug. "Do you think this is Hollywood or something? Get this sob story out of my face before I puke" he hurled in disgust.

"You seem to have forgotten that you're on my pack grounds!" My father thundered. "I can kill you by simply swatting a fist."

To his threat, Jake let out a deep chuckle. It was so out of order, even the guards that had pinned him down were shocked. "Well, you might be right about the pack grounds. This is still your pack… for now" he said with a rye smile. "But if there's anyone that's been holding back the reigns of murder… it's me!" Jake's eyes glimmered, and a distinct scent flooded the air.

It smelled like wild flowers and moist earth. That… that was Jake's scent. But it wasn't coming from him. It was… it was coming from being him!

No…

…don't tell me he…

"Now!" Jake hurled, and pushed passed the guards that held him, blazing straight for my father.

The guards went straight for him, but before they could lay a single finger, wolves from Jake's pack burst through the door and windows, overhauling us in the blink of an eye.

"Get back, Keliegh" my father shoved me out of the way to protect me, but i stumbled on my slippers and the back of my head smacked against my wooden headboard, knocking me out on impact.

My system shut down and my vision blurred up.

But it didn't stop me from seeing Jake spear right through my father without a care. Had he planned this from the very start? Had he used me… as a distraction?

We… we were being ambushed!
