protect her

She glared at me but didn't protest when I shut the door.

I walked towards the house and turned the knob, I didn't even need the keys because the door was open

I set the things in the table and looked around. The rain pouring outside was blocking any noises that could give out the footsteps of the intruder. I stayed calm just standing in the living room.

“Nax..." My father said walking out of thin air.

I reached behind me instinctively for my dagger but it wasn't in its holster because I wasn't armed in any way.

His eyes followed my hand movements and he shook his head sadly.

“I deserve that."

“What are you doing here?." I spat.

“I came to apologize. I don't think you would want to forgive me—"

“I won't. I was happy before you showed up "

“Rainee said the same thing." He said almost as if he was saying it to himself

I felt my blood boil. He didn't go to her, no…anybody but Rainee.
