Lucas's POV. The moment I got back into town, I knew something was wrong; everything felt off, the air was different, and there was a feeling of unease I couldn't shake off that something had gone terribly wrong, but I couldn't figure it out. I had been away on a business trip for two weeks, so coming back felt a bit weird, and I tried to assure myself that it was nothing more than that, but somehow I could not. So I got all the reports, and I went through every plan and proposal I had implemented over the past few months checking to see if there were any loopholes or any unfriendly things that arose in my absence but there were none. I had mark check on all the deals we were yet to close, and even the ones we had closed if an ally somehow turned into a foe, but everything was clean; there was nothing to relate the feeling to but I was still restless. I banged my hands against my desk, it stung, but I couldn't process the pain because I was restless. Since the moment she walked
Days turned into nights, and as I drifted in and out of consciousness, Lucas remained a constant presence, tirelessly caring for me. He nourished my body with small, comforting meals, easing the hunger that had gnawed at my weakened frame. He spoke soothing words, unraveling the layers of confusion and fear that had settled within my mind. I couldn't tell if it was due to the drugs in my system or the fact that I had become completely dependent on Lucas. I felt as though I couldn't do anything with him, but somehow we started to get closer. In moments of vulnerability, I began to share fragments of my own story, my hopes and dreams, and the reasons I had unwittingly become entangled in a web of secrets. Lucas listened intently, his eyes shinning with on empathy and understanding as I spoke. I sensed there was much more he wanted to reveal, but he held back, waiting for the right time yet listening to all I had to say with full and unwavering attention, even though sometimes all I di
" Have you shifted before?" Lucas asked as he walked out of the kitchen with two plates of food firmly placed on his hands. I watched in awe as he walked briskly over to where I was. Of all the things that fascinated me about him, the fact that here with me he was just Lucas was the top of the list. He did everything for me here; he cooked for me and took care of me, his default tone of authority and commanding aura had completely been deemed here, and the fact that only I got to see this side of him made me feel so excited and giddy like a child. I wasn't able to have any thoughts outside him because he surprised me with his actions every single time. "Fiona," He called. "Hmm?" I answered absentmindedly, a wistful smile coloring my lips. "I asked if you have shifted before." I shook my head, still lost somewhere in the wistful imagination I had entered and without any plans to free myself from the naughty thoughts in my head. "What are you thinking?" He asked, with his eyes s
My entire face up in flames as the realization of the awkward position we were in dawned on me but Lucas was not fazed at all. If anything, he looked amused and unfazed. While I on the other hand wanted to bury myself because I was drowning in sheer mortification. I tried to stand from his legs but his strong hand secured me. "You're only going to make matters worse" He teased, with a small smile coloring his face as I buried my face in my palms. Refusing to listen, I shifted to stand again and a small groan escaped his lips. I froze. His left hand tightened around my waist and his grip on my thighs was deathly. There was no hint of teasing in his voice now. "Fiona, Do you know what you're doing right now?""Let me go""You're only going to make this worse" His voice was huskier and thicker. The tension in the room suddenly became very thick as it hung heavy in the silence between us. His hard and laboured breaths poured out like a diffuser, making my cheeks as red as a tomato an
"I know what you heard" Lucas whispered breaths away from my face. "I know everything "My eyes widened in shock. "You do?""Yes, I do. It was a trap too" A gasp escaped my lips. I flung my head away from his tender touch. My eyes watering instantly as the realization of everything dawned on me. "All this while....""Yes, I knew. I just wished you didn't break my heart that way, I wished you trusted me enough to believe my intentions were true""I'm sorry" I sobbed "I know" "Will you punish me?" I asked through tears "What?" He sounded incredulous. "No Fiona, I won't " His large arms cupped my face and he wiped the tears streaming down gently " Shhh It's all in the past" I flung myself into his arms once more."Wait, how many people were in on this plan?" I asked on his hard Rock chest. "Just Mark and I" Lucas replied, then thinking of the question he turned to me with a raised eyebrow "Why?" "The people who captured me, they wanted to know what I knew about you. it's almost li
"Fiona!" I felt large hands on my back rubbing soothing circles. I opened my eyes and the burning sensation vanished at once. I breathed in deeply and placed my hands against the bark of the tree nearby to catch my breath. "What happened?" Lucas asked, searching my entire face with worry evident in his blue eyes."It was burning, everywhere was burning. It felt like I was on fire" Lucas nodded and wiped my face. "It can feel like that sometimes, but you have to remember that you're the one in control, you're in charge. You and your wolf are one. You can control the fire and make it all go away." "H- How?" The sensation was coming back in little waves and I closed my eyes instantly, trying to concentrate and push it further down"Just focus and connect with her, she's waiting to meet you"I closed my eyes and tried my hardest to reach into that warm and fuzzy feeling. At first it burned so hot that I almost flung myself onto a tree, but then I willed it to stop, and somehow it did.
I didn't see Lucas when I turned, neither did I see a fleck of that white mane but after a few minutes I felt large paws propel me forward and my legs began to run as though they had a mind of their own.Breeze fanned my hairy face as I dashed across the forest, I felt like laughing. the feeling was so exhilarating. Now that I was in sprint I could hear Lucas running side by side as I jumped through the trees and leaped across large expense of land. The feeling was inhumane, so exciting for a moment I thought I was flying then I decided to climb trees and see how high I could go. I jumped from branch to branch filled with the euphoria of a starving child who had just been given a meal, if I had my voice I would have screamed till the sun came down. Who knew being a wolf was this good, who knew it felt this good. Lucas was always somewhere behind me observing as I explored my new identity with euphoria like never before. I didn't stop to question or listen to him as I dashed around
The next morning I woke up feeling a lot better and more refreshed. Lucas and I trained nonstop, and I got more and more acquainted with my mate, but sadly the next day, we had to leave.I had missed too much schoolwork, and Lucas had an empire to run. Even though I was unsure whether or not I was ready to face the outside world and all that it brought along, Lucas assured me that Charles would not be far from me and he would protect me this time, and I trusted him. But it didn't make things any easier. I had been traumatized, and I couldn't help the knowledge that one of the first things he would do as soon as he got home was to make the people responsible for my pain pay dearly for it. It pleased me more than I was willing to admit. The end of our stay was gradually approaching, and finally, the day was here when Lucas was convinced that I was completely ready. "Are you sure you're okay?" Lucas asked for the fifth time that hour, One arm was holding onto the steering wheel, and th
