SIX HUNDRED YEARS AGO
Gwendolyn
“My lady!” I ran faster as my personal maid Maria chased after me.
“My lady, where are you going you are not allowed to leave the house alone,” she kept screaming at me as I ran faster trying my best to lose her, the tight corset making it difficult for me to breath. Once I reached the entrance to the forest, I tore my dress to free my legs so that I could run faster.
I was running through the forest as I followed the most intoxicating scent I have ever smelt. It was a mixture of mint chocolate and vanilla. I ran as I stepped on twigs and branches, the green grass below my feet wetting my shoes as the morning dew stuck to them. I kept running until I found what I was looking for..
Alexander was standing in the meadow, our secret meeting place. My parents were very strict, I was not allowed to see him alone until we were officially mated. But we were so in love it was hard to stay away from each other. I was not
Damien’s horse gave a loud neigh as he urged it to stop a few steps away from me. “Lady Gwendolyn,” he bowed slightly. “I am sorry, we have come with sad news.” My heart began to race rapidly as I looked up at him. “What sad news? Where’s.. where’s Alexander?” I stuttered trying my best to hold back the tears that threatened to fall. Damien didn’t say anything but moved side ways to give way to the carriage that was approaching. It stopped in front of me and I looked at Damien confused. “The Alpha king has been cursed with an illness. He only has 5 days to live.” He dropped a bomb that exploded all the way to my soul, scattering my heart to pieces. 'Die? 5 days? My Alexander? No I can’t believe this.' I rushed to open the door of the carriage and saw the love of my life lying peacefully in a coma. But the slight frown on his face and the black veins that covered his body showed that he was in pain. I got into the carriage and la
Gwendolyn “Alexander, Alexander….. No!” I screamed as I opened my eyes. My heart racing painfully, tears streaming down my cheeks. I felt terrible and empty. I tried to move and bumped into someone. To say I was relieved would be an understatement, I just had a nightmare of Alexander disappearing, it felt so real I almost had a heart attack. I turned to look at his face and pecked his forehead. 'Damien should be back by now, I need to see him and talk to the witch.' After cleaning up Alexander and myself, I was rushing to meet the witch when I bumped into Maria arguing with some guards in the hallway. “Move out of my way, my duty is to serve lady Gwendolyn!” I heard her shout frustratingly but the guards wouldn’t budge. “What’s with the fuss Maria? I'm right here,” I said while the guards gave way for me to pass. “My lady! You got me into so much trouble, why did you disappear without a word? Your parents are very worri
“So you are saying in this life and the next, I can never be Alexander’s mate?” I asked the wicked witch as I looked at her. I felt like I was making a deal with the devil. It was just some moments ago that she dropped the bomb but I still couldn't believe it. “Yes, I took away your happiness as a payment for my dark magic. The moment any of you decides to pursue the other, the curse will be evoked. It can only be reversed if he marks you, you will be able to live but he will disappear as per the initial plan. Marking you would mean you are getting back your payment, like a refund. So everything would go back to the way it was supposed to be.” She smiled smugly, I clenched my fists ignoring her taunts, I was on the verge of smacking the smug look away from her face. After listening to her words my chest suddenly became heavy. 'My love, we will become ill-fated for each other,' I thought. A tear escaped my eyes as I clutched my chest. But I quickly made a decision wit
There is just something about the dark that is so scary. I might be a werewolf but those ghost stories do scare the hell out of me. I kept imagining seeing things as we walked through the forest. A tree that looked like a giant person, a short person with a big head and no eyes. ‘Ahhhhh, what in the world is wrong with you? You are supposed to be the strongest, bravest she-wolf but here you are being afraid of ghosts,' my wolf said and I chuckled. I did that to wake her up, she had been too quiet for my liking. After following the witch around the forest for what felt like eternity, we had finally got to a clearing in the middle of the forest. Looks like she had already made the preparations from the voo doo decorations I saw and if I was a little bit scared while we walked through the forest, I was now terrified. There was a ring of fire, and in the middle of the ring was another circle drawn with white paint, with a symbol of a star at its center. I watched as the
Gwendolyn continued I had a dream. I dreamt that I had forgotten something very important, my heart started racing as I tried to recall what I had forgotten. ‘You wanted to wait for our mate to wake up,' my eyes flew open at the reminder from my wolf as she rolled her eyes. I tried to get up but I bumped into something and dropped back on the bed. When I looked down I saw a strong arm wrapped tightly around my waist, I turned my head sideways and was met with the most intense blue eyes I had ever seen and they were glowing. Yes glowing, and I knew what that meant, his wolf was surfacing and trying to come out at our close proximity. It was excited to be close to me. It took me a moment to realize that Alexander was looking at me, he was awake. Tears streamed down my face as I jumped on top of him, my legs clang to his waist as I straddled him. “You’re awake,” I croaked in a hoarse voice. “You’re really awake I thought I lost you,” I hugged him tighter and I s
Gwendolyn “Ah…Alexander, wait,” I moaned in pain as I glared at the man who’s supposed to be the love of my life but now causing me so much pain. “Shush my love, stay still,” he said in a low voice. “I’ll be gentle,” he added. "Hmph! Gentle my foot! There's nothing gentle about how you are doing it. Can't you do it slowly?" I asked as my eyes brimmed with tears. "If I do it slowly, the pain will be ten times more than if I do it fast in one go, just close your eyes and I will be done before you know it, hmmm?" He coaxed in a low voice. “Mmmmm, ahhh it hurts so much, wait don’t do it yet,” I cried as I tried to wriggle myself away from him, but he held me in place. “Gwen, I need to do this,” he said seriously as he looked me in the eyes. “I have already started the process and I can’t leave you hanging like this. The pain will be gone as fast as it came.” “No! It hurts! This is all your fault, you did this,” I yelled. “If
Gwendolyn If you were given the privilege to know when you will die, what would you do? I know it’s quite easy to set up a bucket list of the things you want to do before you die but being able to actually tick off the things listed down to fulfil your last dying wish is where the problem comes in. Things don’t just go as planned, that is the irony of life. So after all that talk about how I would like to make memories and do everything that I wanted to do with Alexander in one day, here I was, in the conference room, listening to a boring meeting about trading with other kingdoms and setting up alliances with a scowl on my face. We had freshened up and had gone to the dining area to have breakfast when a warrior, whose name I don’t quite remember came rushing in to call Alexander for an emergency meeting called by the elders of the werewolf council. The council is made up of high ranked wolves from different packs. They make rules and help the ki
Alexander might not show it but he’s actually a very powerful immortal god with many abilities. He could command the forest and it’s inhabitants too, he could mask his scent, he could also control someone’s mind, you wouldn’t want to go to war with him as he could compel over thousands of people at once and they would end up killing each other. Some of his abilities were locked away because his mother said it wouldn’t be fair for him to have everything. He doesn’t talk about his parents much, all he says is his father left to stay by his mother’s side. I don’t know what that meant though, he promised to tell me about his parents after the mating ceremony. But now that we were in this kind of situation, I guess I will never know. “I had this set up earlier but the meeting got in the way of my plans,” he said interrupting my thoughts. “I know it’s something simple, but I wanted us to spend some alone time together,” he added and I shook my head. “It’s perfect Alexander
