“Were you just about to leave?” I asked as I saw Asa standing outside her best friend Kate’s shop with her and her mate. When there gaze fell on me I noticed that they didn’t seem as phased bye like the others usually were and I liked it. Giving them a nod with a smile I received the same from them back.
“What are you doing here?” Asa asked looking surprised and I watched that her movements caused the shopping bags in her arm to shake and I was moving too take it from her when she shook her head and told me that she would be fine.
Insisting on carrying the bags I took it from her arms when I heard whispers rise from around us.
‘Look its Cain and Asa, I heard that they are madly in love with each other seems like the rumors were right.’
‘Yeah and now that eh sis in love he doesn’t even seem that scary, don’t you think?’
‘Oh! If I have to be honest then
*CAIN ARIUS*If it weren’t for the fact that Asa had come to meet Elder Morris I would have closed my door and then banged her night against it for looking so fucking adorable in her cream floral printed dress. Her hair was also tied in a girlish side braid as she had applied slight makeup to her cheeks making them seem fuller and rosy each time she smiled. Her lips matched the light blush that her cheeks were adorned with, the lightest shade of pink almost close to her original lip color. All in all, even in her modest, full sleeves, knee-length dress she looked out of this world. It was true it seems that clothes can change the atmosphere of a place. With Asa dressed like this if I hadn’t known better I would have thought her to be a blushing virgin.“You look fucking delectable today,” I hissed adjusting the crotch of my pant behind my table as I watched Asa come and sit in front of me in my office. Her eyes were quick to catch the movement of my hand behind my table and though I h
*ASA TRINE* As soon as I felt Clay standing next to me I wanted to move away from him but despite everything in me, I couldn’t. This place just felt so right, by his side, that is, that my body seemed to realize it and didn’t shift on its own accord. There was some form of conversation that was taking place in the room between Grandpa and Clay but even as I looked at the others to try and understand the situation I found my eyes shifting back to him. He was just too beautiful to not notice. I watched as his lips curled into a snarl and he shouted something the sound of which only seemed to cause goosebumps on my body and before I was aware of what was happening, I felt his touch on my skin causing the sensation to increase, making me gasp. I looked around while I felt my body being tugged towards the door and as I was passing my eyes met with that of golden angry orbs. Something in my heart thudded at the familiarity in them and I felt a voice in me telling me to break free fro
*ASA TRINE*I was pleasantly surprised when I got a mind link from Leia early morning the next day to come to her house. I had made plans with Clay to visit a bakery today but since it was Leia who was calling me I decided to cancel my plans and Clay understood about it as well.He was really such a great mate!‘No, he isn’t!’The voice in my head spoke making me feel annoyed at it as I tried to suppress it back inside.I had to temporarily live with Clay’s twin brother because of some problems that I didn’t quite understand but since Clay says it's fine for now, I didn’t try to question it much. Even then I felt awkward around him. I can’t properly pinpoint what the emotions are that I feel when in his vicinity but I sometimes feel like running away from him and on the other hand, at times when his golden eyes look at me with love or hurt I feel like wrapping him in between my arms and hug him so tightly that he would never be able to get away from me again. He confused me.I was the
*CAIN ARIUS*Another fucking dawn away from my mate’s warmth! The sun was barely in the sky but it had already started shifting colors to a sad light blue. The birds were chirping as they flew around doing their business as I walked across the dew-covered grass. However this morning there was a unique stillness in the air, no soft breeze blew past me to gently wake me up and I had to keep on rubbing my eyes to get rid of the sleep.I really hadn’t wanted to come here today to Elder Morris when I found Asa stuck to my side in a fetal position holding onto my shirt between her thumb and index finger as she slept like a baby. She had stayed with Leia the whole of yesterday only coming back home around midnight to tiredly retire and fall asleep in a swift second.I missed her.For some reason, I felt as though even if she was there with me and by my side every day she was slowly and steadily drifting away. It made me scared to imagine any other possibilities that might have caused this to
*ASA TRINE* He is leaving…I need to tell him something, I need to find him and tell him something! But what was it that I wanted to tell him?I couldn’t recall but I was hoping that he would be able to solve the problems that I was facing in my mind and would hopefully help me get rid of them.I had woken up as soon as Cain had left this morning and when I had prodded at him to know about his whereabouts, to know when he would be coming back, he informed me about all that had transpired in the morning. It was because of that reason that I was running towards the border trying to reach it before Elder Morris exited it and left our pack. I need to tell Grandpa something very important. The small voice in my head repeatedly encouraged me and the anxiously twisting heart only found solace in the thought that I would be able to find peace once I would tell him everything.I hated how I had to run with my human legs and cover the distance to the border but the problem was that for some re
*CAIN ARIUS*Sighing I entered Dad’s office tiredly as I slumped down on the vacant chair in front of his desk and informed him, “I, myself placed the moonstone in the water carefully in the temple so you can rest assured that it will be safe. Besides that, I have also stationed a guard to guard the Moonstone twenty-four seven in a rotation. They are all the best and most loyal guards but even then neither of them is aware of the Moonstone being placed inside the bowl or the purpose of it, all they know is that they have to guard it well.”Listening to my rant I noticed Dad look slightly more relaxed than before as he stopped his pacing movements from in front of the window and came to a halt behind his desk. Leaning his hands over it he tapped his fingers and asked, “Are you sure that everything was perfect?”I had never seen him this stressed before. There were winkles visible on his clear skin and his eyes had sunken in. Today my father looked especially weak and helpless. Not used
*CAIN ARIUS*She was struggling in my hold as I refused to let her down from my arms.I was scared.I was scared that if I let her down then she would run back to Clay and I wouldn’t be able to do anything about it.It was only when we had entered our room did I let go of her and almost instantly she ran away from me to the other corner.“Do you know how humiliating it was to have you carry me all the way here!” she shouted pointing an accusing finger at me.Her attitude pissed me off, I couldn’t understand her reasoning behind those words and I am sure my incredulity didn’t hide from my face.“And you didn’t find it humiliating to walk hand in hand with another man that was not your mate?” I asked my voice matching hers and I could see her guard fall for a second. Still unlike before it didn’t phase her and scowling at me she repeated her excuse of only getting help from him to walk.“Then if he helped you then what is wrong with my helping my own mate? Why would it be embarrassing t
*CAIN ARIUS*“Come on in. Why are you both so late?” Mom asked as soon as she opened the door for us. She had a wide smile on her face which contradicted my state of mind. “Are they here?” I heard Clay’s voice from behind her ask and turning around to give an affirmative answer she left the door open for us to cater to ourselves as she went back in. I am sure if she had paid close attention then she would have noticed the awkward tension that Asa and I had between us and though partly it made me sad I was also happy to evade any sad questions on this night of celebration. We stood silently together for a few seconds listening to the laughter inside and then sighing as if annoyed at me she walked in first without a single glance towards me.“How dare you be late for your sister’s celebration?” I heard Leia shout on Asa’s arrival and when I walked in I saw her pulling Asa in a headlock making her take a seat beside her at the dinner table while the younger sister shouted out strings o
*ASA TRINE* “Come on, hurry up Devin, you can’t be this slow!” Leia scolded him and the sound of it came all the way up the stairs making me stifle a laugh. “You look beautiful, miss,” Ross said gaining my attention as he helped me with my skirt that had wrinkled below. “Oh no, Ross please don’t do that I don’t want you hurting your waist,” I said as I tried to stop him, but it was no use the old man had been so used to taking care that even after giving him retirement from all his work he would still find something to do. “Michael! That’s not right! The cake should be here!” she shouted again as I heard Michael shuffling around and again I tried to stop my laughter from filtering through at my sister's frustrated antics. “Its time to go down, Miss,” Ross said as he smiled at me and hooking my arm around his I took his help to carefully step down the steps as I saw Cain standing there at the end of it with little Kiara in his hands. She looked adorable in her frock that she had b
*ASA TRINE* “You called us, dad?” I asked peeping in. Nodding his head at me he motioned for us to sit down and filtering in I noticed that Luna had also been there looking through some books as she smiled at our presence. “I am sorry that I am late,” Clay’s voice filtered in but he stopped soon after when he saw the two of us already seated there, “I swear I haven’t done anything this time.” “We know that you haven’t done anything Clay, we are not here to complain about you,” Cain said huffing at his brother but a smile slipped on his face and I wondered if it would be right to separate these two brothers when their relations had only just started improving. “Well then what is this family reunion for?” he asked as he sat down on a chair beside Cain looking at his dad with a questioning look making Cain and I fix him with that same gaze. “Can’t I just miss my children?” Alpha asked as he looked at us and when we remained adamant in our gazes he laughed and said, “Fine you caught
*ASA TRINE* “No, wait, did you bring the bag of chips that I had kept on the table?” I asked stopping Cain as he looked at me and shaking his head in negative, he said, “Just give me a minute, I’ll be right back!” It had been two days since we had gotten back and thankfully the crowd had started straying away from us a slight bit for us to decide on going on a picnic today. Another thing that had been something really good was Cain’s carefreeness. He had been smiling more and he didn’t look like he had to be on his toes every moment of his life. I think a huge credit goes to Clay and I rejecting each other. This weird phenomenon had also seemingly improved his outlook of his brother as he didn’t seem to be worried about his presence around us anymore though it didn’t mean that he became any less possessive. Looking back at our home I waited for him to come back but it was taking him longer than I had thought, and I wondered if I had actually brought the chips with me. Looking
*ASA TRINE* “That’s enough Leia, please!” I begged as I tried to escape her aggressive hits that she had been raining down on me. After seeing me she had almost ran up to me and the first thing that she had done was to hit me with all the force and energy that she had in store. “Hey, that’s enough, please if not anything then think about the baby,” Michael tried to intervene and taking the opportunity I hid behind him feeling my head almost about to burst from the built up stress. I loved my sister and I knew that she wasn’t the cause of this but I was moments away from shouting at her. “She hadn’t been feeling well too Leia, please go easy on her,” Devin pleaded my case making Cain sit up straight as he looked at me and asked, “What? What happened to you?” I had wanted to speak to him the first thing when I saw him return but he had come back with the rest of the family and I couldn’t find a moment to take him away from them as the Luna showered him with love and Alpha pra
*ASA TRINE* Clay had disappeared away as mysteriously he had come and right now my brain had been combusting at the possibility of what was happening. Why did I feel those things that I would have only with a mate? What did it mean? “Asa? Are you alright?” Devin came in soon after Clay had dropped me off at the entrance of the pack house only to hide back into the crowds of people. Looking around for him I tried to see those same blue eyes that had once been the reason of my tears and later the cause of my determination to solve this mystery. I wonder what he must be thinking right now and whether he had been okay. ‘What is wrong with us Asa? I can feel a connection to Clay just as much as I can feel a connection to Cain but I feel as if my body is being torn apart in both directions,’ Xara panted in my head making me aware of my own body’s condition. Now that she said I had been feeling a slight pain in my chest since i got off the car and this must be the reason behind it. ‘Th
*ASA TRINE* “Are you excited to go home?” Cain asked looking at me from where I had been sitting in the passenger seat of the car while Devin now occupied the back seat. “Did you even need to ask me that, of course I am!” I said looking at him to find that his eyes had been looking deeply relaxed as they flitted over my face. There seemed to still be some anxiety within him but he was assured now that he wasn’t going to lose me. But he wouldn’t let me away from his eyesight for more than two minutes. So maybe he wasn’t completely healed yet but at least he was on that path. “I am so glad that everything turned out as it did and that nothing happened to you,” Devin sighed from where he was sprawled on the back seat looking as if the life had been drained out of him. Right now he looked older than what he was and I gave him an apologetic smile. “Sorry that you had to manage and meet all the people who had wanted to meet me,” I said remembering the hordes of people who had been
*ASA TRINE*“No...”I said for the first time in a while as I felt my voice return to me. I knew that I wasn’t conscious and that part scared me more for if I wasn’t consciousness then I must be dead for the goddess to visit me.She didn’t look anything extraordinary as I stared at the bright mass of light that had been blinding to me before. This light unlike Ephialtes had taken a much proper shape like that of a human and had long wispy hair of light floating all round her being. Her yes had been white as well but again unlike Ephialtes they didn’t look soulless they looked full of life.I felt blessed to have seen her but just the thought of what would it mean to be to see her meant made tears spill out of my eyes as I fell to my knees in front of her. None of my wounds hurting anymore and I wished for them to pain and hurt me again, anything that would tell me that I had been alive.“Please Goddess, let me live, please id don’t want to die just yet,” I pleaded pathetically the fac
*ASA TRINE*And as I said this I went towards Ephialtes who dodged me at my first try using all his effort to move away from me.“No! Don’t do this to me!” he shouted but as the sun’s rays started pouring over his body more and more he started disappearing and growing lighter in color as would happen to a shadow.“I need to do this Ephialtes, you have tortured many innocent people and I only hope that next time you wouldn’t walk on the wrong path,” I said this as I started slashing at whatever black misty body part I got making his body disappear and grow smaller and smaller. It was surreal to watch Ephialtes have nowhere to go as he started circling around me trying to continue to build himself up but the sunlight was making it impossible for him. His white pale eyes that usually stood out in its ghastliness didn’t seem as scary as they depicted his fright.“No, I remember now, this- this is how I was put to sleep all those years ago and now again,” he let out a groan as Cain and Dev
*ASA TRINE* His raspy voice almost instantly made all the hair in my body stand up and looking at his soulless eyes I wondered if he could see through my façade. The air had significantly dropped down around me and if Ephialtes had not been present here I would have been much intrigued to observe such a sudden change in my surroundings “Why? Aren’t you going to say something to me this time?” he asked swishing slightly to the left and the right making me flit my eyes to make sure that he hadn’t been able to sneak up an attack on me. “I don’t want to waste my time talking to you, let’s get on with the fighting,” I said hoping that reverse psychology would work on him as well as I noticed him pause and stare at me while I forced my face to stay impassive. “I don’t like that look in your eyes,” he gnawed out his words narrowing his pathetic pearls to look at me as he continued, “I quite like it more when they had been shut closed scared to even face me.” I wanted to look up at the
