*ASA TRINE* Alpha had been true in his words when he had said that he would send a troop of warriors that would be ready to help us but would stay hidden in the shadows until needed. That bit had scared me a little for their safety but on talking to them before I had left I realized that they didn’t really care whether anything happened to them as long they could somehow serve the pack and save it from the demon. They had been surprised and slightly unhinged at first but had taken an active support later on in doing anything to help their Alpha and pack loving and respecting them al equally. Such people were not many but a total of five. They were still reliable and the only source of any comfort to us then. “Are you sure we should take such a risk?” Cain asked frowning as he helped me set up our camp. We had come here a few hours early to the general preparations that Elder Morris had asked us to do so that the demon would get further weakened. This task was going to take some tim
*ASA TRINE* “Ready?” I asked looking at my mate and Devin who were standing close behind ready to help if I needed it. Giving me confirmation with a nod of each of their heads they all steeled themselves to see the demon that I had encountered before many a times. I just hoped that Ephialtes wouldn’t make them unconscious or worse get angry and harm them for their presence. I had briefed them of these risks but I still couldn’t be very sure about the demon’s mood and neither could they but even then they hadn’t once shown any sign of weakness or fright. If I do say so Cain for some scary reason looked quite excited to take down a demon. Although worried for my safety he was enthusiastic about having the prospective of helping in defeating demon. It being the first time he could ever do that. Looking up at the moonless sky I took a deep breath in and putting down the lamp that I had in my hand aside from the electric lamps that we had put around our tent to
*ASA TRINE* How did he know? Was he already aware of the weapon?‘He must have been, you can’t underestimate him,’ Xara muttered in my head, standing on alert ready to be of use whenever needed.Breaking through the surface of water the five again tried to swim to the shore but like every effort they had made before they were once again been sent into the depths of the water. At this rate they would soon get tired and then lose their strength to even try to come up automatically resulting in death. His knowledge of the dagger had shaken me a little and it had left me with no footing to base my next attack on him.“Ephialtes, this has always supposed to be a one on one fight,” I said staring at the mass of blackness that was gurgling and rising with the fear that the poor wolves emanated, “Let them go!”“You shouldn’t have brought them with you to begin with,” he said pausing a second to let them breathe as the huffed and coughed at the water that must have entered into their lungs.
*ASA TRINE* Letting out a sudden exasperated roar Ephialtes sent me flying back against the ground making my skin chafe against the harsh ground. I hadn’t been prepared for this as I quickly gathered myself up and watched him huff and immediately glide to where I was taking hold of me as he raised me up in the sky far away from his head but tight in his grasp. The dagger that was in my hand was jabbing in my skin because of the tightness of his hold and with a scream I had to let it go at last when I felt my hand spit open as blood dripped from my hand from where the blade had pierced into my skin.“You really think you can defeat me? You tiny werewolves? What do you consider yourselves?” he shouted in my face his eyes as close to me as it could be as he swishes me away from the dagger that glinted in the light.“Let go of her!” Cain shouted coming to help me but he stopped at once when Ephialtes suddenly raised me upside down and squeezing me tighter almost forcing me to
*ASA TRINE* What? But how could that be possible? If he was the strongest today then how could I possibly defeat him? “But that isn’t possible,” I whispered making him laugh more in a sinister way. The fear was only now starting to grip me as I looked on ahead in the darkness of his body that was only growing and growing. “She lied to you,” he said making my heart freeze. He was lying, why would the goddess lie to me? Why would she push me into the death’s mouth? Something must be wrong here! But I didn’t have time to find out this time for now I knew that getting out of here would be more useful to me at this moment. Looking around I spotted something that gave me some hope. It was the same white powder that I had spilt before. I had then thought of it to be an unfortunate event but this would be my only last resort. I felt him come close to me when suddenly I heard Cain’s voice in my head, 'Asa, we need to get out of here.’ ‘I know.’ Formulating a plan in my head I said, ‘L
*CAIN ARIUS*I hated this.I could see how troubled she was and the bond that had been tight inside me was turbulent from the pain that she feeling. Why did this have to happen to her?Letting Dion take control of my body I mind linked Asa as I said, ‘Asa, just a little more you can see that the temple is not far, we can reach there in time just try to push a little bit more.’‘I’ll be fine,’ came her reply but in such a weak and tired voice that she couldn’t hide the torment that her body was going through. She was lying to me and I could feel the life force inside her flickering with every jump that Xara took to lead her back to safety.“Not so soon! I will not let you get away!” Ephialtes shouted from behind us and I could feel Asa’s panic as a fleeting heart beat that was drumming against her wolf’s chest who was already struggling to lead them to safety with what little energy her body was left with.Turning around to stop his attack I howled for Asa to move forward without me bu
*CAIN ARIUS*I could barely feel myself as I looked down at the almost lifeless face of my mate. She had been unconscious for the last two hours and no matter how much I tried to shake her awake she just wouldn’t wake up. I have never once felt this helpless as I am doing now while I pray for her safety. That’s the only thing I can do.Outside the moonstone circle of protection that Asa has created for us I can see that the darkness and cold that has heavily blanketed the area has caused a fog to rise all around us. I can even see on some branches the dew drops that had been present there has been solidified to hard ice and I only wonder if the Moonstone had not been here to protect us then if not from Ephialtes then we both would have defiantly died from the cold that Ephialtes had gifted the whole area with.I couldn’t see whether it had been day yet r not but since everything was still darkened around me I can only guess that it hadn’t been morning yet or maybe it was but the trees
*CAIN ARIUS* More than two days had passed but Asa had still not gained consciousness yet.I had been awake a few hours after I received my first aid but Asa hadn’t been lucky enough as she lay still in a room in the pack house that was always kept lighted and warm. Mom and Dad had believed it to be wise to keep her around as many people as possible for her safety and to make sure that Ephialtes wouldn’t be able to live in the shadows and sneak in the whole room and the corridor or should I say the entire pack house had been kept lighted up at all times. What had happened and the reason why it had suddenly started freezing in the middle of the jungle in our pack couldn’t possibly be kept hidden any longer from the people of our pack and after they demanded to know the truth it had been unveiled to them after a talk of which I had decided not to be a part of.I only wanted to be with my mate and only my mate until and unless she opened her eyes and smiled at me.I am sorry, Asa.“Sh
