*ASA TRINE*
If anger was a person, then I would say its name was Clay Arius.
Standing there, still by the door he looked menacingly at the two of us making Cain’s grip on me tighten. Cain had usually been the quiet type but even he didn’t seem to like the way Clay had been throwing us a disgusting look and a derisive chuckle reverberated out of his chest.
“I don’t see why you are so concerned with my mate’s health,” he said stressing on the word ‘my’ possessively as if to send him a message that would stop him from overstepping his boundaries more than he already had.
This caused the direction of Clay’s somber glare focus solely on his brother, the enmity rising more than before but without giving him a chance to retaliate Cain jabbed another condescending statement as he said, “Unless of course you are jealous of us? It seems that you finally came to your senses to see the treasure that you have lost.”
Like I said before, I had rarely ever had a single decent conversation with Cain previously, so to hear him praising me like he did just now I found my heart melting at his every word and the little touches that his roaming hands were burning through my skin in a pleasurable emotion.
The statement seemed to have snapped Clay out of whatever funk he was in because a fog cleared from his eyes almost instantly he stood up straighter and clicking his tongue he said, “Why would I be jealous when I have the most beautiful girl in the whole pack to be my mate?”
As he said this, he brought Sofia to stand in front of him in a similar position as mine but unlike the lovestruck look she was bestowing him he only had his eyes glaring holes at Cain’s arms around my waist.
“Keep my sister out of this, Clay, please,” Michael respectfully but strictly said as he moved to take his sister away but shifting away with her still in his hold, Clay glanced at him and stated, “You should better accept this fact Beta Michael, your sister will be my mate and the future Luna of this pack.”
The venom in his voice took Michael and Leia by surprise as they stared at the golden boy of the pack speaking to them in a tone uncharacteristic to him.
“What is wrong with you? I understand that you are worked up right now but this is not how you think and act, Clay,” Leia admonished him, unable to keep the surprise out of her voice making Cain scoff quietly behind me. It seemed like he had been well versed with a side of his brother that only he had known until now.
“Stop trying to tell me how I am and how I should behave Beta Leia,” Clay seethed casting my sister a cold look, the surprise of which shut her up. She might have thought of him like a jerk for rejecting me but she was only now coming to find out that Clay in all his totality was a big jerk and a two-faced scum in general, always.
“I am telling you Cain, as your twin who knows you the best, this girl will ruin your life. She has no redeeming qualities and will only drag you down,” the evil twin stated staring at his brother with a face that had now contorted into delicate features of care and worry. I didn’t know why he even bothered to act this way when only a few hours before he had been throwing punches at the brother he was ‘caring’ about now.
How much of a foolish hypocrite was he going to be?
“I don’t need to hear you blabber more shit, Clay. Get out of this room, this instant or else I will throw you out of here and you know that I mean every word that I say,” Cain tiredly sighed probably having enough bullshit of his brother’s fake affections.
What I failed to understand was that if Clay cared neither about me and nor about Cain then why was he acting so adamantly against the two of us?
Shouldn’t he be happy and congratulate the two thorns of his life on living together?
Thinking of his words and rejection still hurt a little and leaning against my mate’s chest tiredly as I found my legs turning weak from the pressure of standing for so long, I let him support my weight entirely.
This time Clay didn’t say anything or even wait to throw us a glare he simply turned around and banging the door shut after him, almost breaking it off its hinges, he stomped down the hallway towards the exit.
“Clay!” Sofia ran after him without a second’s pause and sighing at his sister’s foolishness Michael gave me an exhausted smile and said, “Take care of yourself Asa, I need to go and sort this mess.”
“I want to stay for a little longer but sorry bud I still have some urgent pack work to take care of,” Leia said coming in front of me. She then tried to take me from Cain’s arms but he again stepped back to keep me away from her hold as he acted to have not done it deliberately.
“I will chop off those fucking legs if you dared to move her away from me once more!” Leia shouted at my mate in frustration and suppressing a giggle at their banter I looked up at Cain’s unperturbed face as I patted his arms around my waist and said, “I’ll be alright.”
Our eyes met, his hesitation clearing on meeting the pleads pooling in my green orbs and sighing he reluctantly parted from me as Leia pulled me in a tight and warm hug.
‘Don’t scare me like that again, Asa and please use protection when you mate,’ she said making me gasp at her voice that rang in my mind. I was glad that she hadn’t said it out loud or I would have definitely died of shame right there in her arms.
‘Leia!’ I scolded her as I pulled away from her to stare into her mischievous eyes.
“What? You know it’s going to happen soon,” she said loudly this time as she helped me to sit down on the hospital bed. My cheeks had been a blazing red because of her words as I sneaked a look at my mate to find him already looking at me with a scorching gaze, his eyes trained on the redness spreading over my pale skin.
Hiding my face behind my hair I looked away at once and chuckling Leia smacked Cain’s back as she said, “I am trusting you with my sister, make sure you don’t do anything to hurt her in any way.”
“She is my mate, I will never hurt her,” Cain stated and then coughing he lightly added, “Unlike you.”
“That was not my mistake right now! You heard the doctor, right?” Leia shouted gasping at Cain’s constant accusation and then glaring at him and giving me a smile, she stalked out of the room mumbling along that it was useless fighting with a birdbrain.
“You shouldn’t have angered her like that,” I said looking at the now closed door that had been banged one too many times today as the people dramatically entered or left this room.
“You shouldn’t worry about her, you should worry about yourself first, my sweet Asa,” he said making me confused but before I could voice out my confusion, I felt him lift my chin and turn it towards him making me stare into his amber eyes.
The emotions swirling inside them was clear to me and I didn’t need to ask him the reason behind his words but a whispery “Why?” left my mouth as I felt him pull my chin farther up towards him.
“You made some dangerous claims just now, didn’t you? It seems that I misjudged my mate to be a quiet and innocent girl when in reality, you seem to crave me just as much as I do,” he said bringing his lips dangerously close to mine. The hot breath that tickled the sensitive skin there, made a goosebump run across my arms and the strain in my neck that had me in his hold and at his mercy was only enticing these feelings to double up.
Rubbing my lips gently with his he moved me further back on the bed and then gently laid my head on the pillow while making sure to maintain the featherlike distance between our mingling breaths.
“You want me, Precious?” he asked brushing his lips slightly against my lower lip, making me yearn and lean forward to feel his touch closer. The tingles sparked from that small teasing touch and made an itch deep in my core become more and more prominent as my heart thudded against my chest.
“Tell me Asa, say that you want me,” Cain softly demanded, his voice rising a little and I could hear the strain in them. He had been struggling to keep his control as well.
Deciding to end both of our suffering, I closed my eyes as I whispered the words we both had been waiting for, “I want you.”
A low and appreciating growl followed the descend of his soft lips capturing my mouth into a sweet kiss. The electricity that ran through me made me hold onto the sheets tightly as my toes curled in at the divine kiss that had numbed my brain and sent my body into a sensory overload.
Gasping for breath I broke apart our kiss as I instinctively opened my eyes to stare at the handsome face of my mate. His hands that had been caging my head on either side and his legs that had trapped my body in between his made me feel as if I was still bound in a warm embrace and smiling at him, I stared happily into his golden eyes.
“Was that your first kiss?” he asked and though his voice had been coming out in soft pants I could sense the dangerous glint in his eyes.
I knew he wanted only one answer and chuckling at the jealousy that was ready to raise its head I said, “Yes, it was my first kiss.”
A handsome smile broke onto his face and leaning down to kiss my lips again he pulled away as he confessed, “Mine too.”
That took me by surprise but before I could even let it show on my face, he swooped down to kiss me again as he happily mumbled against my lips, “You only belong to me, Asa Trine and I will only ever belong to you.”
It was a moment of bliss for me but a chill ran through me when I heard a voice echo in my head.
"You are not worthy of being my mate and neither are you ever going to be mated to him. I will never let you be happy Asa Trine and that's a promise from your future Alpha Clay Arius."
*ASA TRINE* There was a roar of whispers following us. “Who is that girl with Cain?” “Is he kidnapping her?” “By the way, she isn’t struggling against him could it be that he has done something to her?” Cain had a reputation in this pack. The reputation of a killer and a dangerous man. He was the most skilled fighter in the entire pack and wasn’t a person who liked entertaining anyone. Therefore, though famous, people usually misjudged him. I would rather say he was infamous, to be honest and I felt a tinge of guilt prick me when I realized that if not for today and if not for the fact that he was my mate, I would have likely followed the petty folly and continued to believe rumors about this genuinely good man. And all because he didn’t mind or bother to correct them. My face had been turned towards his chest in such a manner that only the back of my hair was visible and every time when I tried to face the crowd to let my identity be known he would swiftly press me back again
*ASA TRINE* “This dinner is going to be so special!” Leia chimed from beside me as we stood in front of the Alpha and Luna’s personal house. Usually, the couple lived in the pack house as it was closer to work but they did have their own home and getting invited there was considered to be a lucky and golden opportunity. Glancing at her I gave her an awkward smile trying not to let my discomfort show on my face. What did Clay mean by his words before? Was he going to kill me or get me banished from the pack? Maybe I should have told Cain about it… ‘Then why didn’t you?’ my unsettled wolf prattled the thought that she had been meaning to ask me for a while. Sighing I looked at the pleasant white house that had lights brightly shining through the windows as a buzz of excitement could be heard in the murmurs brought by the lightly blowing wind. ‘I didn’t want to cause more of a wedge between the two brothers,’ I replied back as I now knew the truth about their strained relation.
“Clay you should stop joking around,” I sternly said hoping to turn the situation over and throw him off with my confidence. It was difficult to fake a hard demeanor though because there was madness reflecting in his blue eyes. “Shut up, you stupid bitch!” he spat his hands fisting his shirt and ripping it open all the way off his body. Balling it in his hands, he threw it aside and glaring at me he said, “I don’t want to hear you whine about anything.” Nonetheless garnering some more strength I scoffed as I said, “You know that others can hear you threaten me, right?” Grinning at me he cocked an eyebrow and laughed as he said, “Then shout and try calling them. Do you think I am a fool to be doing this here if I would get caught so easily?” That would make sense and it was normal for werewolves to have their rooms soundproofed given that we were creatures with sensitive ears and no one wanted to hear a couple’s private conversations at night. ‘Cain, Clay has gotten hold of me in a
*CAIN ARIUS* ‘I want mate back in our arms,’ my wolf, Dion, whined in my head as images of her from before came resurfacing in my mind. Groaning I tried to push it back as I scolded him, ‘Don’t, I cannot afford to take another cold shower right now.’ He grumbled at that but giving in he trudged back into the back of my mind, silently searching for Asa with our eyes. Patting my hands down my shirt to smooth it over I finally entered the dining room where I noticed Mom and Leia setting the table while talking together and a quick peak in the kitchen tells me that Dad and Michael were bring the dishes in while discussing some recent pack issues. It was Mom who noticed my presence first and smiling she tried to look behind me as she asked, “Where is Asa?” My brows knitted in confusion at this and taking a sniff I asked, “She was supposed to be here around twenty minutes ago.” “No, she hasn’t returned back since she went with you, I thought she was still with you,” Leia said
*ASA TRINE* A gentle feeing, warm and slightly annoying made me blink my eyes for a few seconds before I opened it. The rays of the sun were falling right on my face and trying to sit up to avoid having it tickle my skin anymore I find that I am unable to move my body. Realizing that a hand was gripping onto me I looked to my side to see Leia still sleeping as she had snuggled closer to me. Why was she in my b- Before I could even complete that thought the whole scenario of yesterday’s night came rushing to my head and tears instantly pricked my eyes. Why? Why did Clay had to go this far to fulfill his sick hatred and motives? “Asa? Asa!” Leia hurriedly got up as she pulled my face to look at her and then grabbing it between both palms, she said, “Breathe, okay? Try and breathe. You are safe, I am here for you.” It was only after she pointed out did, I realize that my chest had been clogged up with unfiltered air that had been finding it difficult to leave my body as I hyperv
*ASA TRINE* A gasp resonated out of my lips as soon as I opened the room to the cabin where Clay had been admitted in. His body had been covered by a blanket but the part which had been left uncovered was painted in white. He had been covered in bandages completely except for the expanse of his face that had been giving color to the white canvas of his body. It had purple and bluish bruises with red gauzes and stich lines creating it into a gruesome masterpiece but the main attraction was the stamp of a black burned cross on his forehead. “Can you not look this happy?” Clay disgruntled as his eyes glowered at me. They had been opened in mere slits by the swelling that surrounded them. Realizing that a smile had been gracing my face I tried suppressing it but hearing my mate scoff from behind me as he placed a hand on my waist, I again felt a bigger smile take over my features. I had been scared for nothing. The monster, just the thought of whom made my frightful heart beat wildly
*ASA TRINE* “Where is Cain?” Luna Catherine asked once she saw me entering her library alone. Her soft voice startled me and looking at her with a disgruntled expression I waited for her to repeat her words. At my lack of an answer, she furrowed her brows and the smile left her face as she asked, “Please don’t tell me that what happened yesterday has hampered your relationship with Cain! I promise you, Asa, that Clay has received his punishment so please don’t blame my one son for the mistake of the other.” In this moment for the first time in my life Luna didn’t seem to be like a leader talking to her subordinate but like a mother worrying about her children. It was weird and shaking my head to rid her off her worries I lied, “No, it is nothing like that, Cain just got caught up with some work.” She seemed unconvinced but sighing she patted the seat next to her on the cozy looking sofa that she had been seated on. I hesitated for a second but lowering myself on the spot directed b
*ASA TRINE* As soon as I heard his words, I became aware of my condition and I felt my body burn as blood rushed to the pit of my stomach. Why did I have to have my heat now of all times! Another surge of heat stronger than the one before made my knees buckle from a force unknown to anything that I had ever felt before. It automatically made me lean further into his body and the warmth of his lean muscles provided me with a sense of calm instead of heating me up more. I didn’t want to stay in his arms but this was the only place that I wanted to be in. “Asa,” Cain panted his grip tightening and his eyes flitting from between deep dark black to his bright worried golden. Moving me away an arm’s length he helped me stay up and then pleaded, “I need you, Asa. I won’t be able to control myself for very long.” Inside me I felt Xara growl at me as well, as she pushed me to tear apart Cain’s clothes and take him as his. But how could I give my body to a person who supposedly betrayed me
