Chapter Four Hundred and Twenty Three

Lilith’s POV

Things become hazy, blackness shrouding me as I Sri in a state of unknown whilst Abyss hums as if looking for something.

And though I know I can’t, I pace.

My mind flips back and forth over and over as I try to make sense of all the things I have seen. Of the warnings and expectations Abyss has given me.

And as the time passes slowly the pain seeps back, my chest pulling and tugging as our souls detach and the pain reminds me that I’m losing her.

Why must I lose her?

Celeste has called me home, you no longer need me, Abyss mutters as we morph through an invisible shield.

You do not know about this gift yet, she mumbles.

I stand, yes stand… before Damian’s pack house. The images before my eyes deceiving me. The air cool and thick with the pungent smell of children, fear and dirt.

The floor below my bare feet is harsh and cold, Abyss’s fur beside me is soft and glowing.

Am I awake now? I ask her.
