Clementine's POVLilith is looking much better. There is colour in her cheeks, and her eyes have changed to the colour I have seen in my visions. She no longer has the devil in her eyes, and that's reassuring, but for how long?Lilith is the future, and her path has been challenging, yet without it, she wouldn't be the woman she is today.I knew Theseus would be here today. I had seen his path change. The decision to help Lilith. At Damian's dinner, he was there using his ability to be invisible, but that didn't work in front of me.I'm not sure why, but other people's powers haven't affected me until Lilith. Her future is limited when I touch her, snippets of different versions of the future flitting like a wild goose chase.Carlise thinks it might be to do with the fact that her future is uncertain, and I cannot deny his opinion may hold some truth, but then again, is her future so insecure?Despite the fact that she had been held hostage for most of her life, she still found her mat
Lilith's POVClementine questions the little boy as if he holds a great deal of information that is key for her transition of taking the children.I suppose he does. His name is Tobias, and apparently, he is able to manipulate the mind. But most importantly, he's claimed Khai is his brother.Khai has always dreamt of a family with a brother, a large house... and a simpler life for as long as I can remember.Theseus had suggested as much that the boy was essential, but he never went so far into detail as she has in the matter of a few minutes. The boy seems on edge, anxious not to leave, affecting me and my emotions. I feel sorry for him, having been taken away from his family to come here where he has no one.He seems to like Khai and has latched onto him more than necessarily acceptable for a small child that knows no one here.Khai's adamant he needs to go, to find new parents and a family to bring him up and get him an education. I'm afraid I have to disagree. Something is tellin
Theo’s POVThe coming days are quiet and filled with contented home life.Lilith trains with Theseus daily, and Khai stays around the pack house instead of sitting in the trees on the no man’s land between Damian’s pack and mine.I tend to do business and then get the best of both worlds, returning to spending time with Lilith and Khai. And then we have Tobias. He’s a sweet little boy.He is helpful and enthusiastic but also so talented that when he decides to play tricks on you, you can’t help but fall for them.Last night, at the dinner table, Arlo dared him to steal my sight and replace it with the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. Now I thought, for a young boy, that would be something to do with his family, but what he bestowed upon me was more magnificent than even his parents. My sight was stolen from the same dinner table in the kitchen to the top of a mountainside. The grass was green, and the wind swept past me.There was a river trickling down between two faces of the
Celeste's POV "Where is Theseus?" Zeus asks me as I walk to stand before him. He doesn't even begin with the usual niceties that one has become used to during greeting. I can tell he's upset, and I can probably guess as to why but Theseus's movements are not my own, and I hope he remembers that. "Theseus is down on earth..." "Why?" "To help Lilith," I don't lie. Obviously, he already knows where Theseus is, and no doubt he's figured out that it's because Theseus cannot leave fate alone. That his paternal instincts have overtaken his moral ones. "I warned the pair of you about the parental instincts, and you both assured me nothing like this would happen and that I could trust your judgements to let fate take its course. You promised." "And I'm here, keeping to that promise Zeus. I haven't left the god realm; I haven't gone to the child's aide." "You may not have, but he has. He took her from Hati's and brought her up here where the three of you fought like animals, destroy
Lilith's POVKhai has finally warmed to Tobias. They are standing out back playing ball with Theo, and I'm staring through the kitchen window in awe at the tram my boys have become to make Tobias feel at home here within our pack. The boy is... talented but also disturbed.I found him standing in the middle of the stairway, halfway up to our bedroom this morning. He just stood there, staring at our bedroom door with the most awful aura about him. There's something dark living within him, something he manages to hide, I presume, but nevertheless, it's there, and I felt a small slither of it as I stood on top of the stairs staring down at him.Funnily enough, once he blinked back into reality. When his eyes sought mine, and we greeted each other, his innocence came back, and it was as if he had changed before my very eyes.I had invited him down for breakfast, and without a thought, he followed along until we were in the kitchen. He asked what help I wanted, and we made breakfast togeth
Theseus's POVCeleste paid me a visit this morning, forcefully dragging me out of my sleep through mind-scope. It is an ability that she was bestowed with years ago by Apollo, the god of wolves before her. He gave down his ability to use his mind to fool others to her when he stepped away from being the god of wolves. Celeste had taken his place, reigning over wolves and shape-shifters alike. And I say shape-shifters because it isn't only wolves that a human is linked to. There are cats, bears, birds, lizards and many more shape-shifting beings out there that my Celeste guides through life.Basically, it is as if she is there, right before my eyes, when in fact, it is all in my mind. A mental projection of sorts that she projects. She had stopped by to ask me to come home. Told me I needed to, that I needed to prevent the fallout with Zeus, but I could not do as she requested. I'm needed here. Lilith needs me. Even if she's pushing me away more than relying on me. At least she'
Celeste's POVIt has been a long while since I have walked amongst the green grass of American soil. This was where I was born and bred. I lived my young life through to my twenties until I was summoned into the god realm to become the goddess I am today.I forgot how the pine smelled so real or the grass was soft beneath my feet until I found debris such as twigs and stones. The rain has just fallen, leaving the sweetest earthy smell behind, like some sort of mother natures fragrance that I hadn't smelt in so long. This is the real world, the natural world, unlike home.Home is fake, created by us gods and goddesses to have someplace to call home when in fact, we all miss the places we were born from.Mine is here, not far from the very place I am visiting today.Hati's pack still resides on the same land, much small in size but nevertheless ok the same ground.I pass the borders long before my people come to seek out the trespasser.I think, other than Lilith, this is the first human
Celeste’s POVTime stands still around us as we stare at one another in angst. There lies the man I chose for Hati in this lifetime. The son of his last host.He looks well, muscular built, yet his eyes lack something that his other hosts held.He doesn’t look crazed and angry. Instead, he seems sad and anguished. The look does not suit him, yet that is his look, and it somehow sits perfectly on his face.“Celeste…” Hati speaks through his host. His voice is low and menacing, precisely as I remember his voice to be.“Hati, must you keep me standing here in the cold? Aren’t you going to invite me in…”“What do you want?” He asks.“To talk. It’s been an awfully long while, my friend.”“It has; the cycles have passed by in a blur… you best come in then. I’ll have someone make some tea if that is still palatable for you.”“I’m not thirsty,” I announce, walking up the steps into the house. Pushing past Hati’s host, his warm skin snapped the life out of me in the briefest of touches. The th
