Author's POV...Uncapping the bottle cover, Barrin drank almost half of the water in it. He had really overworked himself during training. He was so engrossed in filling himself up that he didn't notice Raven's presence behind him."Boo!" She bellowed, hoping he would be startled. He turned to her, unblinking, "What are you trying to do?"Raven gasped in shock, "Why didn't you flinch?"Barrin smirked, "do I look like a weakling to you?"She scoffed, making a face at him, "It's all bluff.""You want to check?" He winked.Laughing her head off, Raven held his hand. "What would you like to do today? I have someone I would like you to meet.""Who might that be?" He inquired with an amused look on his face."If I tell you, won't that ruin the joy of meeting a stranger?"Pocketing both of his
Aria's POVI kept pacing my room back and forth, trying to get the hang of my thoughts. There has to be a way I can go about this discreetly without getting Kyle worried. Just when I was thinking about how to leave the pack for a few days, the opportunity fell into my hands unexpectedly. Kyle would be travelling away from the pack for about three days. That is good enough for me to go and return.Curiosity about who I really am and where I belong eats deep into my conscience. I would have loved to tell Kyle about my intention if he wasn't insistent on me staying back at the packhouse to be safe. He wouldn't understand why I seek to go so bad. Noel has also been restless; I guess I am not the only one who wants to know about their root. Since I have fully recovered, there is nothing to worry about anymore.Stopping abruptly in the middle of the room, I think it would be best for me to discuss with Devon. Kyle leaves tomorrow, so I would also get to sneak out tomorrow.
Aria's POV"Are you sure Devon would be here?" I asked Raven for the umpteenth time. She huffed in frustration, "Can you just trust me? This is the military base; I know you are unaware because you hardly leave the packhouse. He would be at the institute building where they hold educating programs for the soldiers.""How would you know?""If he isn't at the packhouse or at home. This is where he spends his time. You could have asked Ella if you were going to be so doubtful." She snorts.I chuckled dryly, "Sorry, I just want to be sure we don't miss him.""Then stop talking and follow me." She ordered.I kept my mouth shut and followed her. After our discussion in the morning, Raven asked me who I thought might be in the best position to help me. I couldn't think of anyone else but Devon; moreover, he is the only one I can discuss the decision with. Barrin would gladly tell Kyle, and the latter would lock me up until I returned to my senses.Ju
Kyle's POV..."Do you like the food?" Aria asked, bending her head a bit to look me in the face.I chuckled, swallowing the food in my mouth, "It tastes very nice, baby. Thank you for going all out.""You welcome, baby. I'm glad you like it."For the first time in a long while, I get to sit at the dining table to eat with a loved one. Aria had decided to prepare dinner herself with the help of the kitchen staff. It feels like a send-off party. It's funny because I would only be gone for a few days, but then I understand that we have never really been apart for days. A small laugh escaped my lips, calling her attention.Aria raised a brow, "what's up with the laugh?"I shrugged, "I have never seen you act this mushy. You are going to miss me a whole lot, right?" I teased. She blushed shyly, "Oh, please. Don't get too ahead of yourself; I am only looking out for you on behalf of the pack members. Everyone would want their Alpha to be in good health.""What about you then? How do you wan
Aria's POV...My heart paced rapidly as I watched Kyle get ready to leave. I'm trying my hardest to not give my thought away as my palm greased the spot he had marked me. There is still little burning sensation from it. I have to be more careful with my thoughts until he leaves to avoid him getting a whiff of my intention. His mark has brought us closer, and our minds are more linked now than ever. I can only hope I don't get into trouble until we both return to the pack."Someone looks unhappy to see me leave." He teased, cupping my face in his palm.Without a word, I leaned into his chest, placing my ear on his beating heart. It feels almost the same as mine. I guess we will both miss each other a bit too much."Don't take too long before you return," I warned.Kyle chuckled; the sound tickled my ear. "yes, ma'am. I promise to be back as soon as it's all over. But you have to promise me you would take care and not wander around." He said, holding me forw
Author's POV...Devon shifted uncomfortably in the chair; he kept heaving every passing second. He still hasn't heard from Aria, he had tried her line, but she wasn't picking. That is, if her phone hasn't been seized. It had been thirty minutes since the truck she was in left, and from his calculations, she should have arrived at the Prowler's pack border.Barrin couldn't help but notice the change in Devon's mood, he kept mumbling to himself, and since he returned from checking quickly on his mother, he hadn't been himself. Since he hates being nosy, Barrin thinks it's best if people tell their feelings on their own accord. Even though his friend's reaction to every passing second was distracting him, he didn't say anything.Checking his wristwatch for the umpteenth time, Devon cursed under his breath. "I can't do this!" He let out."What?" Barrin inquired tiredly, dropping the pen in his hand. "Why are you acting nuts?"Shutting his eyes tightly, his lip
Aria's POV...I wrapped my arms around myself, suddenly feeling cold. My eyes lingered on the entrance of the Prowler's pack border; it did look horrifying, but I was determined to make my way in without a doubt. I stood by a big oak tree, watching the pack soldiers walk back and forth with their eyes keenly watching the environment like a hawk. This is my chance to introduce myself and go in.I hid by the corner of the road leading directly to the pack to wait for Barrin. He sounded really worried on the phone. It's obvious not even Devon can hold himself back from exposing me. I checked my wristwatch. If I wait here any longer, the time planned for my return to the Moonstone pack will be stalled. I can't have Kyle knowing about my move before I get the chance to tell him myself. When his call came in, I was still cramped up in the truck that brought me here. Until I found a good hiding spot to make the call, I didn't answer it. Stretching my neck a bit again, the border came in sigh
Aria's POV..."I think she has regained consciousness," I heard a voice say over me.I blinked slowly, trying to adjust my eyes to the beaming light. I felt the spot I was lying in; it was a bed. Squinting my eyes slowly, it appears to be my room. I tried to remember how I got here, and then a flash of Barrin bleeding and me trying to help him back rushed through my head. Like someone being pricked by a nail, I jumped off the bed."Hey! What are you doing?" Devon's sturdy hands gripped both of my arms. "You can't just get up like that."It took me a moment to get myself together; I shook my head hurriedly. "What is going on? How did I get here? Where is Barrin?"Devon looked towards the other man in the room and gestured for him to leave us. "You will need to sit down, Aria." He implored."No, I need to know where Barrin is. Why won't you take me to him?" Tears welled up in my eyes again."I don't know how to say this to you, Aria. I just need you to know that it isn't your fault...."
