Kyle's POV...

I blinked, almost not understanding what he was asking; I should have known Barrin was quite good at playing along and must have agreed with Devon just to console him. I inhaled deeply and exhaled.

"What are you talking about?" I queried.

Barrin chuckled dryly, holding my gaze. "I know you must have said something to hurt her. What did you do?"

I searched my head for the perfect way to tell him about Aria's new arrangement. I tried to imagine his possible reaction in my head. I decided to say what he would love to hear exactly.

"She seems disinterested in my decision to spend a day or two with her during the week. To spend more time with her as regards the pregnancy." I said.

He hummed, "I guess she doesn't want your presence, just like you too. The feeling is mutual, after all."

If only Barrin knew, but there is no way he would find out about the long meeting. It's just pending the time Aria falls pregnant. I stoo

Aria's POV...I despise Kyle with every fibre in me; I wish to kick him in the face and have him spit out blood. That is the only thing that would keep me sane; he is so disrespectful and thinks he can trample over me just because of my current status. I am so going to get back at him. I fumed, kicking at the fight dummy hard, imagining it was Kyle's face and crotch. I would have loved to see him moan in pain."Do you mind taking pity on your leg and arm? Do you intend to incapacitate them?" Raven inquired, folding her hands against her chest, watching me."I just want to get this over with." I puffed."No, what you are doing is fighting the wrong person. Who exactly do you intend to beat with so much violence involved?" She asked.I turned to look at her, hanging my punch in the air. "How did you know I have a person in mind?""You have been letting out a long string of curses all morning, and to cap it all, your strength seems to have doub

Aria's POV...It felt like Ella dragged me to the entrance of the study; if I had my way, I would have run as fast as my legs could carry me far. As long as I don't get to face Kyle again and have to deal with his silliness or anything regarding the moonstone pack, my life will be fulfilled."You called me, Alpha," I mumbled tiredly as I entered, not bothering to knock."Did you hit your head on the way?" He questioned.I hummed in confusion, "what do you mean?"Kyle glared, "There's obviously something wrong with you for barging in here like an uncouth animal."I rolled my eyes, "Is that all you have to say? I take it that you are in a sour mood, so it's fine. Why am I here again?" I could see his eyes twitching; no doubt he was livid."If you don't watch that tongue of yours, I will have them cut off this minute!" He warned."That implies I wouldn't have to bear your heir or put up with you. Sounds like a good choice." I mutt

Aria's POV...Raven wasn't joking when she said her family wasn't all that; it felt like the home was devoid of people. No warmth or affection; everyone seems to have their nose up in the air. They didn't even pretend to be sweet towards each other in front of me, considering I was a guest. We had no choice but to head out of the house for some nice non-suffocating fresh air. My adoptive family weren't this bad; for the first time since I made friends with Raven, I noticed the sadness in her eyes."I have been a bad friend, I see," I muttered, playing with my ordered drink. We settled for an open restaurant ten minutes away from her home.Raven stopped halfway through her drink, "what do you mean?""Your family. I see why you enjoy being at the training ground so bad. And your brother looks a bit familiar."She scoffed, "That's because you must have seen him on the training ground most times.""How is it that you don't talk, and everyone kee

Author's POV...Devon tapped his feet on the hard ground with his hands behind his pocket; his heart thumped loudly when he heard Aria call out to him. Ever since they had a forced fallout, he had tried so hard to avoid her. The closer he gets to her, the more he can't seem to take his mind off her.His mother had acted unbothered when Devon confronted her for threatening Aria. On the other hand, maybe he dreamed too much of what would never happen. He has known Kyle all his life, and as friendly as he might appear, Kyle doesn't like to share whatever he thinks belongs to him. Devon had been observant enough to know Kyle wasn't happy about him and Aria. However, he had followed his heart nonetheless.Aria let out an awkward smile as she stood before him; scratching the back of her neck, she tried to keep her eyes glued to the ground.Devon chuckled, "I do have a day job, Aria. And I am sure your friend is eager for you to return."She sighed, "I'm

Aria's POV...As much as I appreciate Barrin's help in bringing me to the packhouse without getting drenched by the already pouring rain, I still don't like the ride. The rain started the moment I stepped foot in the packhouse. I thought Barrin would come in to see Kyle. Instead, he drove off as soon as I got down. My phone rang loudly in my purse; opening it, I brought out the cell phone. Raven's name popped up on the caller ID."I'm about to lose my mind right now. Where the hell did you keep your phone?" She blurted all at once.I huffed tiredly as I walked through the hallway, with the rain making its debut on the roof. "I am sorry, didn't realize the phone was ringing. I was preoccupied with getting home on time.""Are you home now?""Yes.""I feel so relieved to hear that. Talk to you later." Raven muttered in her sweet tone, hanging up.Smiling to myself, I opened my room door and almost sank into the wall. Ky

  • Fated To The Wrong Mate    Chapter 50

Kyle's POV...I watched as she jabbed and punched at the moulded fighting partner with all her strength. Aria seems to be pulling me in every now and then. It's been two weeks since we started getting more intimate, and I must admit, they are the best times I have had in a long while. I don't even feel so much guilt towards Barrin like before. Not because I don't love him anymore, but because I keep telling myself it's just sex to birth an heir. Even though there is no total ounce of truth in it.Still, there is no way I am letting go of Aria soon. Having her wrap her legs around me, trusting me enough to go deep into her, makes my heart race and my wolf filled with excitement. It feels extremely different with Barrin. I don't know why I keep comparing both; I just can't seem to help it.Not telling Barrin about the arrangement was a good idea; he appears uncomfortable with the supposed two days meet per week. And he has become more needy and clingy, all because

Aria's POV...I couldn't resist the grateful expression on my face. Kyle looked utmostly pleased after he orgasmed; his cheekbones brightened in a usual way."Why do I feel like you are beginning to enjoy this." I teased. He sniffed, turning away from me to pull up his trousers. "This is just a way to get you to conceive on time. It's not like we can be sure of when it would happen.""Hmm, I see," I muttered, not letting go of the taunt in my voice. "Anyways, I feel really sticky. I should head back to my room.""Just like that?" He queried.I stared at him in confusion, "what do you mean?""Your heart doesn't flutter, or your legs weak, considering what just happened now?"I tried to be sure of what he was trying to achieve by observing his face close enough; it was obvious he expected me to give off some sort of reaction to please his ego. Even though I must admit, sex with Kyle feels like the best in the world. I am not abou

  • Fated To The Wrong Mate    Chapter 52

Kyle's POV...Grinning to myself at how silly Aria was, denying how much I make her feel to my face, I tried to act oblivious to the fact that she enjoys my company as much as I do; she did awful at faking her feelings. To avoid tramping on her ego, I made it seem like her denial got to me. Instead, it only made me feel more attached to her. My dick still jolts in excitement at the thought of meeting with her again tonight.I chuckled to myself, wondering what had gotten over me. I am beginning to act lovesick. I can't seem to resist having her in my arms every night. Our meetings might get extended to every day of the week. My thoughts faded with the wind when the door opened abruptly, and a dead-faced-looking Barrin walked in.His face only looks blank like that when he is pissed at me; I sat up, holding his gaze. "What's wrong, babe? Why are you looking so livid?"He exhaled, throwing his head to the back. Whatever was bothering him, Barrin was trying

  • Fated To The Wrong Mate    Epilogue

Author's POV...Three Months LaterAria laughed loudly as she chewed on the cutout apple she picked from the plate in front of her. Ella had chosen to be the clown in place of Raven as she gave them a detailed report on how her wedding night had been."He acted like he had never seen me before. I had the best of moments." She sighed dreamily.Raven scoffed, resting on her elbows. "You act like you won't be returning home to him.""You are just jealous." Ella let out a tongue at her.Shaking her head, Aria sat up, adjusting the pillow attached to the chair to help ease her back. Things have been blissful since she and Kyle chose to resolve their issues by letting the past go and focusing on their future, including their unborn child. Her hand rubbed on her growing bump; she had never felt this much happiness in her lifetime. Barrin's death had taken a toll on them, but they have been able to get through it together. She has finally settled into her duty as the Luna, especially now that

  • Fated To The Wrong Mate    Chapter 110

Kyle's POV...My ears kept ringing consistently as the words of the doctor resonated. Aria is pregnant; she is carrying my child. I couldn't let my emotions get in the way of my plans for the Prowler's pack. All through the march towards the doomed pack with our armour and war trucks, even when we met with the hundreds of soldiers from other packs, I didn't know how I was supposed to feel. Either elated or deflated. The moment we got to the border of the Prowler's pack, grenades were thrown in to keep them off guard. Thousands of soldiers charged into the pack like we were at a real war. I had almost doubted the other packs would keep to their promise, but they showed up, proving they were wolves of honour. Some soldiers shifted and went into the woods to catch anyone who might try to escape from there. Some of my soldiers and a few others from the various pack had entered from the east side to attack the packhouse. I had instructed the men to wait for me to get rid of the Alpha befor

  • Fated To The Wrong Mate    Chapter 109

Kyle's POVMy heart pounded as I made my way to the large meeting room. Ever since Barrin got buried, I have been working hard and gathering my soldiers to launch an attack on the Prowler's pack. I do not care about what would become of me after the fight. One thing I know for sure is they would burn to ashes, and my revenge will be taken. I haven't been able to sleep or eat well for days; my treacherous heart and wolf keep yearning for Aria. I am supposed to hate her; it's because of her Barrin is dead. Most importantly, she is one of the enemies. I shouldn't forget that.I stood in front of the door; the guards had their eyes on me, expecting me to give the go-ahead for the door to be opened. I exhaled sharply, nodding for them to open the large door. I gasped softly at the fullness of the room. All of the Alphas I met with at the conference a few days back, except, of course, Anthony of the Prowler's pack and Wade of the Night Walker's pack, were all seated. Their eyes keenly watch

  • Fated To The Wrong Mate    Chapter 108

    Aria's POV...It's been three days since I got locked up in the dungeon. I got to know because of the dim light coming from the tiny window that even a bird wouldn't fit through. Whenever the day shines, I get to see it from there. I had already lost every will to fight. Barrin must have been buried by now, died gallantly and deserves every respect given to him. The dry tears pricked at the back of my eyes. I haven't been able to shed any tears for a day now; it feels like I am dehydrated. No food or water has been passed onto me.Kyle really wants to teach me a good lesson. Maybe I should have surrendered to Wade the second time he had me. I shouldn't have strived to live. If only I had a glimpse of what would become my future, I definitely wouldn't have returned here. Kyle and Barrin would have lived happily ever after with me gone.Ella is the only one who got to sneak in to see me; she said Raven isn't in the right state of mind to face me at the moment. I don't blame her either;

  • Fated To The Wrong Mate    Chapter 107

Kyle's POV...My heart felt cold, and I could say that I didn't feel any kind of emotion. But I know it's not true; I am only this way because I let the tequila taunt me. The memory of Barrin's cold body and the holes caused by the bullets on his corpse made me want to pull an attack on anyone involved in his death. It's more heartbreaking to learn that my Aria was involved in it. We were fine; why did she have to be a part of my misery?I will never forgive myself for Barrin's death; he wouldn't have ended up with this kind of fate if I didn't choose to love Aria. We would be living in perfect harmony and have nothing to do with the Prowler's pack. I have avoided them for years and steered clear of that doomed pack, but I don't think I can let this slide any longer.I felt a sudden burst of anger inside me when I remembered Aria's confession about being a biological member of the devil pack. As much as I love her, I do not intend to return on my promise to end any soul relating to th

  • Fated To The Wrong Mate    Chapter 106

Aria's POV..."I think she has regained consciousness," I heard a voice say over me.I blinked slowly, trying to adjust my eyes to the beaming light. I felt the spot I was lying in; it was a bed. Squinting my eyes slowly, it appears to be my room. I tried to remember how I got here, and then a flash of Barrin bleeding and me trying to help him back rushed through my head. Like someone being pricked by a nail, I jumped off the bed."Hey! What are you doing?" Devon's sturdy hands gripped both of my arms. "You can't just get up like that."It took me a moment to get myself together; I shook my head hurriedly. "What is going on? How did I get here? Where is Barrin?"Devon looked towards the other man in the room and gestured for him to leave us. "You will need to sit down, Aria." He implored."No, I need to know where Barrin is. Why won't you take me to him?" Tears welled up in my eyes again."I don't know how to say this to you, Aria. I just need you to know that it isn't your fault...."

  • Fated To The Wrong Mate    Chapter 105

Aria's POV...I wrapped my arms around myself, suddenly feeling cold. My eyes lingered on the entrance of the Prowler's pack border; it did look horrifying, but I was determined to make my way in without a doubt. I stood by a big oak tree, watching the pack soldiers walk back and forth with their eyes keenly watching the environment like a hawk. This is my chance to introduce myself and go in.I hid by the corner of the road leading directly to the pack to wait for Barrin. He sounded really worried on the phone. It's obvious not even Devon can hold himself back from exposing me. I checked my wristwatch. If I wait here any longer, the time planned for my return to the Moonstone pack will be stalled. I can't have Kyle knowing about my move before I get the chance to tell him myself. When his call came in, I was still cramped up in the truck that brought me here. Until I found a good hiding spot to make the call, I didn't answer it. Stretching my neck a bit again, the border came in sigh

  • Fated To The Wrong Mate    Chapter 104

Author's POV...Devon shifted uncomfortably in the chair; he kept heaving every passing second. He still hasn't heard from Aria, he had tried her line, but she wasn't picking. That is, if her phone hasn't been seized. It had been thirty minutes since the truck she was in left, and from his calculations, she should have arrived at the Prowler's pack border.Barrin couldn't help but notice the change in Devon's mood, he kept mumbling to himself, and since he returned from checking quickly on his mother, he hadn't been himself. Since he hates being nosy, Barrin thinks it's best if people tell their feelings on their own accord. Even though his friend's reaction to every passing second was distracting him, he didn't say anything.Checking his wristwatch for the umpteenth time, Devon cursed under his breath. "I can't do this!" He let out."What?" Barrin inquired tiredly, dropping the pen in his hand. "Why are you acting nuts?"Shutting his eyes tightly, his lip

  • Fated To The Wrong Mate    Chapter 103

Aria's POV...My heart paced rapidly as I watched Kyle get ready to leave. I'm trying my hardest to not give my thought away as my palm greased the spot he had marked me. There is still little burning sensation from it. I have to be more careful with my thoughts until he leaves to avoid him getting a whiff of my intention. His mark has brought us closer, and our minds are more linked now than ever. I can only hope I don't get into trouble until we both return to the pack."Someone looks unhappy to see me leave." He teased, cupping my face in his palm.Without a word, I leaned into his chest, placing my ear on his beating heart. It feels almost the same as mine. I guess we will both miss each other a bit too much."Don't take too long before you return," I warned.Kyle chuckled; the sound tickled my ear. "yes, ma'am. I promise to be back as soon as it's all over. But you have to promise me you would take care and not wander around." He said, holding me forw
