Elysia's POV

"Breathe Elysia. Breathe" I whispered to myself as I stood in front of the majestic door that led to the altar clutching my bouquet tightly with tears threatening to break out.

I felt a tug on my wedding dress as Sarah my trusted maid and friend helped me adjust it

"Smile my Luna and don't forget to breathe" she said in-between giggles " I put in all my efforts to make sure your makeup is breathtaking, don't ruin it with tears"

Luna. Yes, I was about to be the wife of Alpha Tyler.

Who would have ever imagined that the little frightened wolfless girl who had been rejected by her people would now be the Luna of Ravens Pack.

"You may go in now" The guard's deep voice brought me back to reality

The moment the doors were pushed open, my eyes landed on My Alpha, our eyes locked and the world around us melted away, leaving only the two of us.

The pack members didn’t voice their doubts, but I could sense it in their glares the disbelief, the shock, the quiet judgment at how someone as low as I could rule them.

Self-doubt crept in, they were right I was just an omega born without a wolf, and in less than five years I had risen to the point of being their Luna? Unheard of. But then I saw Tyler smile.

My favorite smile it was soft warm, loving and that was all the assurance I needed to push myself towards him.

As I took my place in front of him, he pulled me close, his lips brushing against mine in a tender kiss.

A soft clearing of someone's throat broke our spell, followed by ripples of forced laughter from the crowd.

“Just a few more minutes Alpha, and she'll be officially yours,” the elder whispered and Tyler replied with an even cuter smile.

And the priest continued “On this fateful day, we are gathered to wed our Alpha and his chosen …”

A distant shout cut through the elder’s words.

“Stop!”

The air rapidly grew tense and for a second, I thought I was imagining things but then the voice echoed again

"Tyler.. Stop"

The alarm in that voice and timing made my heart pound, causing me to instinctively reach for Tyler’s hand

But I couldn't feel him.

He wasn't there.

A figure came running into view almost immediately making the crowd murmur amongst themselves

“Tyler, stop, please I beg of you! You can’t do this!” she screamed once again, and I watched in shock as my Alpha hurriedly walked towards her as she fell in front of us

“You can’t marry another when I bear your first child!” she screamed out in pain.

Silence.

A cold, suffocating silence rang in my head as I stared at the beautiful blond lady now wrapped in my Alpha.. My soon to be husband's hands.

I stood frozen and rooted to the ground, as my bouquet slipped from my grasp while I watched my perfect day fall into chaos.

The whispers around me grew louder.

“I knew it,” I heard someone speak. “He’d never marry a wolfless woman with no origin, more or less an omega.”

Their low and mocking laughter pricked my heart like tiny thorns

My breaths came in short, ragged gasps. I wanted to move, to scream, but I couldn't

I tried to say something, to say anything but nothing left my mouth.

My knees buckled and chest tightened the whispers grew distant as my vision blurred, and I felt myself being dragged into a void as the world became blurry and then followed by darkness

“My Luna! Please... please wake up!”

The distressed voice felt distant as it repeatedly echoed in my head making my eyelids flutter open

My voice barely above a whisper, I stared at Sarah and asked, “Where is he?”

Sarah didn’t answer but the look on her face told me everything I had needed to know.

It wasn't a dream.

Tyler had indeed cheated on me and his mistress had ruined my wedding.

A choked sob escaped my lips as my new harsh reality hit me like a ton of bricks and my world began to crumble around me again.

So many thoughts and questions filled my head so much that Sarah's calming words were almost inaudible to me.

Why?

What did I do to deserve this? He was the one who had told me over and over again that he didn’t need a child to ascend the throne!

He didn’t even want me pregnant until I was officially his Luna, but he was comfortable seeing another woman pregnant for him

He had saved me, made me fall in love with him, only to break my heart on OUR WEDDING DAY.

“You just woke up, please stop crying My Luna.” Sarah’s voice cut through my thoughts. “You need to eat something, or you’ll....”

Luna?

I let out a bitter laugh, stopping her, “You know I am not your Luna, Sarah.”

The door suddenly creaked open, and my heart clenched as his scent wrapped around me as he walked into the room.

“Elysia... Please we need to talk.”

His voice was calm. But I couldn't bear to look at him.

I felt Sarah hesitate and I nodded for her to leave, much to her dismay.

Silence stretched between us before he finally broke it, “Say something…”

For a moment, I was silent. Just staring at him.

“like?” The word barely left my lips before anger surged through me, overshadowing my urge to break down crying in front of him as he stepped closer to me “DON’T YOU DARE, COME ANYWHERE CLOSE TO ME YOU DECEITFUL DOG!”

He flinched.

“Answer me! What did I do to deserve this, Tyler?” My gaze dropped to my wedding dress, which was now nothing but a cruel joke.

His throat bobbed as though he were struggling to find the words. “It was a mistake, Elysia. I was drunk. I didn’t mean it.” It sounded like he was sniffing, but I was no fool to fall for those words.

A hollow, broken sound escaped my throat almost like a cry for help as I continued laughing

This was supposed to be our wedding night, but here I was still, husband less

“You’ve never touched me... Not even when you're drunk, Tyler. Why her?” I hissed, “Why? What's so special about her.... why did she have to get pregnant for you?”

In the blink of an eye he covered the space between us and I felt his arms wrap around me.

I pushed hard against his chest, my fists pounding against his chest weakly.

"Why? Why?.. you said you loved me... Why? Tell me? It's because I'm wolfless right..."

It felt like I was drowning in my own grief but he said nothing instead his grip on my body tightened

As my cries subsided, I managed to push Tyler away, my eyes red and puffy. I couldn't bear to look at him, but I had to know this.

“How long?” I whispered. “How long have you been lying to me?”

He had no answer.

And that hurt me more than anything.

I added sniffing, “Even if you won’t tell me the truth, answer this... was I ever going to be enough for you, were you ever going to accept me for me?”

Tyler took a slow step forward, his eyes desperate—pleading.

“Elysia, I made a mistake and I wish I could go back in time to correct it,” he started.

“I really don't know how else I can assure you that you are enough, always have and...” The door suddenly burst open, cutting him short.

A maid stood there, breathless. “Alpha! Your Luna just fainted!”

Your Luna.

Tyler stiffened. I saw the hesitation flicker in his eyes. His body swayed slightly toward me as if he wanted to finish what he was about to say, but it lasted only a second.

Then he moved not towards me….

But toward her.

“Tyler....”

He stopped and turned his face pale, eyes pleading, “I’m sorry, Elysia... I never meant for any of this to happen. I swear on my mother's grave I love you,” He exhaled sharply, running a hand through his disheveled hair. “I have to go.”

He had a choice and he made it… he left.

My fists clenched at my sides.

His Luna?

His pregnant Luna?

Five years. Five years of loyalty, of sacrifice, of standing by his side and yet... when it mattered...

He chose her.
