ISBERLT.
A long sigh flies past my mouth as I drop the serum on the desk; turning around in my seat to remove my glasses, a d gaze out the window to see that the world has already been covered by darkness; the illuminating light from the full moon, the only source of light which once again reminds me that I'm the only one left in the company—excluding the parading guards.
Staring at the moon, I'm somehow drawn to it, and find myself at my office window, arms crossed against my chest as memories that I find hard to keep down every day flow through my mind.
I remember how excited mother used to be during full moons, and the look that always cover dad's face anytime he watches his wife give praises to the feeling of excitement that comes with the full moon.
And I also remember the betrayed look on mother's face the last time I saw her—the last full moon that she saw.
My heart clenches at the memory, and I close my eyes, trying to shut it back down.
With another sigh leaving my lips, I turn back to the serum that sits at my desk; a frown covering my face when I realize my staying back at the lab turns out futile.
I have been very curious about the test subjects these sera are used on, and Doctor Shelley—one of the head researchers— have refused to let me into the other lab rooms where the test subjects are being kept, which is why I'm currently digging holes into the vial, instead of hiding myself under my duvet in my room with a bowl of popcorn in hand.
Shaking my head, I remove my Googles before proceeding to walk out of my office; heading to the bigger office to get the charts for the week.
Maybe it's the fact that I stupidly forgot to bring a source of light along, knowing fully damn well that no one is expected to still be in here at this time, but somehow, I manage to miss my way, and I find myself moving down an unfamiliar hallway, shivers running down my spine from the dead drop silence that occupies this area, also from the knowledge that I've never been to this part of the lab.
Researching has always been something I'm fond of— something I take great pleasure in doing— which is why when I made it past the outskirts of my old home; the first thing I did was work my ass off to get myself to learn more about it.
It's only been a few months since Doctor Zion admitted me to be one of his lab assistants, and of course, I love my job so far, but my curiosity about the new serum that's been passed down, and why the test subjects is a prohibited area for me gawks at my mind every night.
And trust me, I do not do well with being curious about anything.
I stop in my tracks when I come to a dead-end which doesn't seem like a dead-end, but a room that's locked away from the other parts of the company.
Taking slow strides towards it, my heart pace increases when my hyperactive sense of heart kicks in, and I listen to the low growls that come from the other end of the room.
There's someone in there. And I want to know who exactly it is.
Wrapping my hand around the cold doorknob, a feeling of guilt kicks in at the fact that I'm not allowed to be here in the first place.
I jolt back in shock when my phone vibrates in my lab coat, dropping a hand over my chest to calm down my racing heart.
Taking few steps away from the door, I bring my phone out of my coat to find Corey's name glaring at me from the screen.
What the hell is he still doing up at this moment?
Exact question I should be asking myself? Yes, I know.
Moving away from the door, I glue the phone to my ear, and breathe into it; voice extremely low.
"Corey, why the hell are you calling me?"
Corey is my lab mate, who also happens to be my roommate. Yeah, big coincidence.
"Drowning in misery without you here? Why aren't you back yet? I thought you were just going to check on the data, and leave. "
A sound of him munching on what I presume should be popcorn comes after his words, and I scrunch my nose.
Another big misery—Corey seems to know about the test subjects that are hidden from me for a very mysterious reason, and anytime I try to ask him about it; he just changes the topic.
It's as if everyone in the company knows about what's going on. Expect me. And somehow, they expect me to be alright with it.
Well, I guess I was until this new serum came in.
"I finished working on that but found something else to work on. I'm not sure how I landed here, but I'm at a complete side of the company, Corey. I guess my night might be useful after all. "
"What are you talking about? Isberlt, please don't tell me you went to the prohibited side of the office. "
Maybe it's the fact that I am distracted talking to Corey, or I'm high on adrenaline or the fact that I'm slowly losing my inner skills, and strengths after leaving the pack, and shutting down my wolf.
Whatever reason it is, I fail to sense the change in the atmosphere, or I did late as my body collides against the wall, the phone dropping from my grip, and a wince slipping through my lips.
Raising my gaze to meet the force that keeps my body pinned against the hard wall, my breath hitches in my throat when icy blue eyes glare back at me; the face covered in a scowl.
"Found. You. "
He growls, and I shake in fear in the realization of who this intruder is.
An Alpha.

ISBERLT.I groan slightly, hand moving to my head as I take in the sight of my environment—darkness covering the area, with large leaves from trees blowing wind across the area, and I feel myself being moved at an inhumane pace—my big lab coat being the only thing protecting me from the harsh wind.It takes me a few minutes to realize that I'm dangling off something with my body placed in a vertical position upside down, then a long minute to realize I'm on the shoulder of a man; my face right in his backside. It doesn't take long for my memories to move back to places, and I realize this man is the Alpha, and he's taking me to God knows where.Raising my head to stare ahead, I take note of the fact that we are no longer in the city, but now deep in the forest—into the life I managed to escape years ago.He must have noticed that I'm conscious, and he tries to gaze back at me. "Don't do anything stupid. "
ISBERLT."Strip down. "He looks me dead in the eye as he mutters those words, and I bite down on my lips; feeling the outrage soaring in me.This damn motherfucker."You heard the Alpha King, " The man that stands beside him says with a gruff voice, and I raise my brows at him."I heard him, I just didn't find any good significance in his words. "I tell him, teeth-gritting against each other in annoyance, and low gasps and angry howls erupt in the crowd—reminding me that there are still very sure other wolves in the room."You nasty little bitch!"The man that stands beside him snarls, making a move towards me, with eyes blaring enough to almost have me back down, but it doesn't."Say that to the girls that open their legs wide open for you each night to satisfy your desires. Who the fuck do you think you all are?"I snap, trying to raise, but the chain restrains me and
ISBERLT."Get up, Slave!"He hollers, and echoes of laughter, and satisfied howls fill the room in my state of humiliation.Biting down on my lower lip, I scowl at the wolf that stands before me— the string of cusses at the tip of my tongue, just lingering for me to release them.Shaking the thought of cussing at this man off my head, I get up, brushing my butt as I begin to walk away; only to be yanked back by the same man again."Where the fuck do you think you're going, whore? I'm not done with you!"He tugs me back hard, and I jerk my hand away from his grip, glaring at him with shimmering eyes."You will not touch me, do you understand me?"I tell him as calmly as I can, and the room quiets down— everyone concentrated on the drama that's managed to come up once again. This is the drill. It's been five long excruciating days since I've been here, and just l
ISBERLT.My head snaps up to the hand that halts his, and Rio is glaring at the wolf; his face covered with an expression I'm yet to decipher."What the hell do you think you're doing, Peter?"He asks him, eyebrows draw in concentration, and lips pressed into a thin line. The wolf, whose name turns out to be Peter looks down at me, back to Rio, down to me again, then back to Rio before withdrawing his hand, and straightening his stand."She disobeyed me, Beta. That much you should know. "Rio glances back at me, jaw tightened, and I avoid his gaze before finally finding my feet; my hand clutched to my stomach from the pain that shoots through my entire body."You do not unleash your powers on a wolf that can't defend himself, Peter. She might be a slave to the wolf pack, but she's still one to the Alpha King, and he did not give an order to have her mistreated...""She's just a fucking Slave, Beta.
ISBERLT.My eyes go wide as I stare down at my ripped gown, then back into the eyes of the feral alpha that stands before me."Kneel!"He growls, his eyes turning a darker hue, and without having to be told twice; I go down on my knees before him, my eyes trapped on the smooth tiles that rest beneath the skin of my knees, and my hands on my bent lap; clenching my torn dress to my body so I'm not flashing my naked body to him."Raise your head, wolf. "He speaks again, and I immediately lift my gaze to meet his; my heart racing a bit faster than normal against my chest, and my grip on my lap tightens— fingers digging into the skin, probably bruising it— as he steps closer to me, closing the small distance between us, and his hand wraps around my chin, raising it higher. The silence in the air grows more suffocating as he trails his finger down the skin of my jaw, tracing the dollar that rests against my nec
THE HUMAN WORLD.SCIENTIFIC WORLD. THE LAB.COREY."What do you mean you have no idea what happened to her? Is she not your roommate?"Doctor Philips snaps, jabbing his palms on the desk, and I glare up at him, shaking my head. "How the fuck am I supposed to know where she is when she just vanished out of the blue? I'm just her roommate like you said. I'm not a fucking watchdog that have to watch over her every single damn time!"His scowl softens, seeming taken aback by my words, but it doesn't take long for that to decompose from his expression to be covered by a frown."You will repeat those same words to doctor Zion once he's here. You were given one responsibility! Just one simple mission! To look after the wrenched werewolf till we have every knowledge, and observation we want from her but you failed at it. And now thanks to you, our test experiments, and the wolf girl is gone!"I say nothing, but stare d
ISBERLT.His smirks grow broader as he crouches towards my ear, his grasp on my narrows nearly repressing me, and depriving a whimper out of me. "Let's see who will save you from me this time, you fucking whore!" He snarls, his sharpened claws shovelling into my neck, and almost drawing blood."Let me go, you bastard!" I fight to release his grip on me, but of course, my strength comes nowhere near his.His hold on me releases, and I cough as I struggle to get on my feet and calm down my breathing. Closing my eyes to steady my racing heart, I raise my gaze to meet his with blaring eyes, only for me to be met by a strike across the face; stinging my skin so badly that I'm sure it's red.I gasp as I hold onto the assaulted side of my face, before turning to meet his evil smirk again, and he lifts his brows at me; challenging me to speak up— which is exactly what I did."Did you just raise your hand on me?" I questi
ISBERLT.I dab my palm against my cheek harshly; anger streaming through my veins as I look up to meet the stupefied face of Heather— The old woman— and the frantic face of Peter at the thought that he's been caught."What's happening here? Isberlt?"Heather gazes over Peter's shoulder to glance at me, and I rise on my feet, clutching the dress to my chest as I wait for the bastard to say something."Nothing happened here. You saw nothing; do you understand?" I watch in skepticism as heather gazes at me, then back to Peter, a despicable look crossing her face as she gazes at me again than a frightened one covering it up as she gazes back at Peter. You must be fucking kidding me! Don't tell me she's going to fucking agree to this? This motherfucker almost raped me! He fucking assaulted me!"Do you understand me, Heather? For Evelyn's sake?"He smiles at her— a warning smile— and Hea
ISBERLT.He's staring at me. His sharp gaze is pointed at me, and he's barring his fangs at me.The world seems to be still for a damn second, and I suddenly forget how to breathe, move, or so any damn thing as my gaze rests on the huge wolf before me.He takes one step forward, and the echoes of my heart drumming fast against my chest is loud in my ears as dear courses through my veins."Isberlt, " the sound of Rio's voice pulls me out of my daze, and I move my gaze across the room; finding his at the far side of the room. He shakes his head, and holds a finger over his lips. What the fuck is that supposed to mean?"Do not move, " he says, looking scared himself, and I have no idea what the hell he's talking about.I suddenly remember that we are not the only ones in the room, and my eyes move to the other Alpha's who looks equa
ISBERLT.I stand before eyes that once judged me, and I believe are still doing, with hands that have been raised against me, and mouths that have uttered words is disgust to me with my heart pounding against my chest.Moving my gaze across the room; I easily find Rio next to one of the scary-looking Alpha, and he raises his thumbs at me with a smile—encouraging me.Returning his smile, my gaze moves to the Alpha King standing beside him, and I nod at him to signify that I'm ready. He responds with a nod before raising from his seat, and walking towards the rest of the Alphas."Isberlt. Are you ready to provide us with everything we need about the Sera?" He questions, and I nod, before saying, "I'm ready to enlighten you on the research I've made. I never knew of the creation, so I don't know the entirety of its process, but so far, what I've g
ERIC.Sauntering away from Katniss, understanding she's in pain, took everything in me.I know she brought this upon herself by imperilling the life, and endeavouring to take a life of an innocent, but I can't help but feel this is all my fault.I've known Katniss since she was a kid, and she was never like this. That little girl was nothing like the bitter woman that settles within the walls of that penitentiary right now. That little girl was who saved me, and I failed to do the same to her.I knew the moment she was no longer herself. The moment she sacrificed herself just to be with the man she's in love with; even if it means in the wrong way.Katniss has been in love with Theodore since she grew to know what that word means, and she did everything to capture his interest. She ruined herself for him, and sometimes, I want to blame Theodore for i
Eric gapes at the woman that sits before him with a sigh skidding through his parted lips— the metal bars being the only thing that separates them. Taking a seat on the concrete floor with his hands on his knees, the man tilts his head; studying a sobbing Katniss who has her head bowed. "It shouldn't have had to be like this, Katniss, " he speaks with a depressing tone, his eyes on the woman that's stolen his heart. The woman he's fallen so deeply for without even realising it. The woman he will do anything for, but rejects his affection every single time. The woman he wants, but who unfortunately wants his friend. "What are you talking about?" Katniss finally speaks, raising her head; her hand swiping over her skin harshly to wipe the tears away. "You shouldn't have to be here, Katniss. You could be with me... In peace. " Eric says, and Katniss scoffs; crossing her ar
ISBERLT.I push the tray aside, focusing my gaze on an Alpha that's feet away from me; his gaze on the screen that sits on the desk, and his fingers typing away. What's he always doing on that laptop, I wonder. Perhaps some Alpha work?Gazing down at the big t-shirt that's on me; his scent swirling around my body, and engulfing me, I can't help but wonder what the hell happened. What the hell happened to that Alpha that hated me more than anything? Though I doubt that hatred for me has changed, there's something else. It's in the way he speaks in a much softer tone, and the way he doesn't look at me like the very existence of me disgusts him, like he always does.He saved me from those wolves, and nursed me— though he hate being so close to me, and he made that clear. This is why I can't help but
RIO. I glance back at Eric as the Alpha King carries Isberlt towards the packhouse, still very much in his wolf form. He's refused to let anyone else grab hold of her, and the sudden possessiveness intrigues me. Glaring at the wolves that scream in agony at our feet, I shake my head as bitterness fill me. I can't believe Katniss set this up. I know that woman is up to no good, but doing this to her? For what exactly? Because she's in a lower position than her, and can barely defend herself? "Do you think we should take them away?" I ask Eric who finally turn his attention back to me. Taking a look at the wolves, he shakes his head, and say, "No, we shouldn't. They had no right to attack a defenceless wolf. They might be my family, but this... We will never tolerate it. They will suffer for what they have done; along with their Queen that set up this evil scheme. " Nodding, I glance at him with my brows lifted an
THEODORE. "So I think we should..." Eric's voice trails off as my wolf growls within me, and it's an unusual kind as I can feel his anger deep within my bones, spreading through my body like a bowl of fucking hot fire. "Alpha King, are you okay?" Eric's voice is nothing but an echo in my ears as I clench onto the verges of my desk, feeling my knuckles go white from how tight I'm holding onto the rigid furniture. "Fuck!" I growl, nudging the desk away, and rising to my feet. Opening my senses to my surroundings, Eric is gazing at me with a curious expression covering his look, and Rio doesn't look so good either. They are hurting her! Hurting her! Aztec growls within me, cracking my nerves once again, and I can feel the outrage simmering through me; flooding through my bones, and awakening the demon that I set to rest. "Isberlt..." I call out, surprising both men who give each other
ISBERLT. The echoes of my heart pounding against my chest is loud in my ear as I turn around in my stand, my eyes going over the wolves that bar their fangs at me; looking ready to devour me. Who the fuck are they? And where are they from? Anger oozes in me at the realization that Katniss lied! She fucking lied, and set me up! There's no Alpha King, or Rio, or Eric around here. She brought me here to be killed, and I can't believe I fell into it. She knows what she was doing; she planned everything well, and made me believe she was truly ordered to summon me though I had my doubts. Katniss is one of the most dangerous women I've ever met, Isberlt. You shouldn't attract her attention because that will only get you into trouble. I know you always have the urge to retaliate, but you shouldn't in this case. Keep to yourself if you don't want to get into trouble, Isberlt. This will be my first, an
ISBERLT. I look back at Heather who shrugs, telling me she doesn't know what's happening either, and I know she finds this situation just as weird as I find it. Why will the Alpha King send his mistress to come to take me? Why not Rio? Or any of his pack members? Why her? A strange feeling settles at the back of my mind, but I shake my head as I drop the tray, standing up. Heather grabs hold of my hand, and shakes her head at me, "What if it's dangerous, Isberlt?" She whispers, jerking her head towards an angry Katniss that stands by the door, and I smile at her, before grabbing her hand in mine. "It's not. I'm sure she wouldn't dare to do anything to me. " "You do not know Katniss, Isberlt. She's one of the most dangerous women I've ever encountered. She may seem like she's all innocent, and quiet now, but she's like a green snake under a green snake, and her attacks are always unexpected, and poisonous. "
