Chapter Five - Surprise

After our deep and meaningful talk, Ethan decided to invite me to their basketball practice. I almost forgot that I am part of the organizers of the main event for this school year tournament.

I am still worried because a lot of things have changed between us three, especially because it has been a long time since we spent time with one another, they have been busy with Alpha duties ever since they came of age. 

Still, I can’t believe they kept the fact that I was mates with them a secret. Is it because of my relationship with Paul? I bit my lower lip, I feel like I would have difficulties handling them now that we are mates.

Our parents were really close back then, so whenever we visited the mansion, those twins have always been my company. I stayed away with everyone when I lost my parents, but they and my friends never let me feel that I was alone.

Ethan also mentioned that they came back as soon as possible because of the ball games. This is important for the twins, as they always participate in these games. 

We are the defending champions at the private high school division after all and it’s their last tournament, so it would be critical for them. I also have to make sure that the event is perfect even though I am pissed off with Eli.

After arriving at the gymnasium, what I witnessed there on the inside melted my heart. There were gold and white balloons and huge banners with words written in calligraphy: ‘Happy Birthday Our Moon’

Some of the players were there whistling upon noticing our arrival. I almost teared up after seeing my friends there, they said they were going home!

They were holding this special cake with candles already lit up. I glanced at Ethan and he chuckled at my surprised expression.

“What? We wouldn’t want this day to skip without you truly celebrating it.” He playfully winked, “Big bro planned everything with me, but he chose the colors and all.”

I was surprised with what he said, “Eli planned this with you?” I looked around but he wasn’t there.

Gold and white was my favorite color. Eli still remembers it and my wolf was pleased. I think I lost the main reason why I was mad at him.

Paul wasn’t present there, I am sure he would skip this. Eon, their beta approached me with my friends.

“Alright everyone, sing loudly!” Ethan beamed and they all started singing me a happy birthday. It was echoing in my ears as I stared at the candles on my birthday cake. I feel so happy right now.

After they were done, I closed my eyes and wished myself a happy life together with the people I deeply care about.

I heard cheers once I was done blowing the cake, “Happy birthday Sarina!” Alison and Oliver greeted happily.

“Thank you guys—wah!” I was cut off when Ethan suddenly raised me and twirled me in the air, making me laugh and nervous at the same time.

I flinched when he put me down and kissed me on my lips, “Happy birthday baby! I hope you are happy!”

What he said made my cheeks warm as I hugged him, “Thank you, Ethan, I am happy thanks to all of you.”

His body became stiff as he gently pushed me away, “Shall we skip the party and do something even more fun?”

Ethan wiggled his eyebrows, which forced me to roll my eyes before lightly punching his elbows, making him chuckle.

It would be nice if Eli would be here to celebrate it with me. I sighed deeply and enjoyed the rest of the small party they had all prepared for me.

The next day came by. As I wrapped up my classes, I started packing my stuff inside my dorm. I hope I can get there before dinner, I am starving from using my brain and body just for school.

“So is this all your stuff there?” Eon asked while carrying a huge brown box. I only nodded as I watched him exit my dorm.

I am moving to the white mountain, where the Stephenson mansion is. Ethan insisted yesterday so I had no other choice or else he’ll destroy this dormitory building. We almost quarreled because of his stubbornness.

Alison and Oliver left after the party early yesterday because they were loaded with projects and tasks to do. Aside from that, they are my assistant at the Lynx Cup. I am grateful that my helping hands are people I know personally or it would be too difficult.

We might be busy starting next week. That also means I have to be present in the practice of numerous teams, especially basketball training.

I will see Paul there too. I am sure it will be awkward and strange again, but at least, the twins will be there too. I shook my head because he was still bugging my mind, probably because of the trauma he inflicted on me.

As I looked around and saw my dorm room all packed up, I decided it was time to bid farewell and handed my key to the friendly community advisor.

The journey to the white mountain was long, and I found myself dozing off. It was only when I felt a tender kiss on my lips that I realized we had arrived.

Gently, I opened my eyes and the handsome face of Ethan greeted me, “You’re finally here baby! I have been waiting!”

Right, I was only with Eon a while ago, their beta. I got out of the car before stretching my joints. I need a run soon. My back is hurting.

“Sorry, there were a lot of things to pack.” I yawned, but he shook his head before approaching me.

Ethan wrapped his arms around me before snuggling on my neck, my senses heightened and my wolf was whimpering. He feels too comfortably warm outside in this cold area.

“No worries baby, I missed you, come inside!” Ethan happily mumbled before dragging me inside the house.

“I think brother will be home soon, we’ll just wait for him and have dinner.” He added but stopped after we both smelled him in the lobby.

“I thought you said—” My heart almost shattered after seeing that Eli was with Tina Bailey, who had this smug look plastered on her face.

My gaze locked onto their intertwined hands as if they had just descended the grand stairs.  So Ethan didn’t realize these two arrived here a while ago or got here before him?

I couldn't understand why, but a surge of anger coursed through my veins, and my appetite vanished. Eli is so freaking confusing. How could he kiss me, and plan a sweet birthday party but be so cruel and distant at the same time?

“Oh hi! We didn’t know you two were here!” Tina greeted with her high-pitched voice. Annoying. She approached me before hugging me tight.

I felt relieved when it was a short one, my wolf wanted to beat the shit out of her for being with our mate. Didn’t she hear I am mates with them? Why is she doing this?

“We’re just about to have some dinner, want to join us?” Tina asked, but Ethaniel possesively pulled me towards him.

“The dinner prepared on the dining table is only for my mate, if you two want to eat, go out and buy some because I didn’t prepare anything for both of you.” Ethan coldly stated before pulling me towards the dining area.

“Don’t be rude, E, you can share it with us,” Eli spoke gently with his brother. This made him stop before looking back to him.

“No, go out. I don’t want my baby to feel uncomfortable.” Ethan squeezed my hands, forcing me to look at him.

My heart melted after seeing that he winked before glaring at his brother, “Go out, we don’t need you here.”

Ethan pulled me towards the dining area and started serving me some food. He looked like he was pissed off.

“I am so sorry about this baby.” I heard him whisper as he sat right next to me, “He is hurting you,”

I bit my lower lip because Ethan is so sweet. He wasn’t like this back then and to think, he is only like this to me, I truly feel like a princess that found her prince.

“I can’t believe he can bear to see you that upset. Of all women, why her? I seriously don’t understand him, didn’t you meet up with him?” He curiously asked while we were munching dinner.

I only shrugged and moaned at the taste of these delightful meals, “Wow, these all taste amazing!”

“Really? I’m glad! I cooked these all for you!” He looked so happy that his eyes glinted with joy.

I stopped and almost lost grip on the fork I was holding, “You did?! Wow! You were so bad at cooking before!”

“Oh come now, that’s all in the past.” He pouted, making me giggle because he looked extremely adorable.

We both stopped when we realized that Eli and Tina entered the dining area. It was hard not to look at them because of the faint smell of their saliva to one another.

“Bastard.” Ethan slammed his fists on the table, “Get the hell out of here, Tina. You are not welcome here.”

Eli glared at him, “Shut up E, father didn’t teach us to be disrespectful.” He deeply said, his jaw tightening.

Ethan scoffed, “And you have the guts to call me disrespectful when you brought a slut here to hurt our mate?”

What happened next surprised me when Eli lunged to punch his brother, Ethan punched him back and they started a fight that I knew would be hard to stop.

“Ethan! Eli! S-Stop please!” I furiously screamed, and both their fists stopped mid-air before looking at me intently.

“Shit baby, sorry.” Ethan immediately consoled me when he realized that I was tearing up. I am always like this when they fight. How can they hurt each other’s identical faces?!

“Look at what you did Ethan! You hurt Elijah!” Tina rushed towards Eli who had a slight cut on his face, “How can you bear to make them fight for you?”

My wolf growled when she caressed that scratch on his face while glaring at me. How dare she? She knows these two are my mates. Is she doing this on purpose?

“What did you just say?” I raised my tone before sniffing, “Where was your head when the fight happened? On your butt?”

“Hazel/Sarina.” Both the twins called out my name as if they didn’t want me to raise my tone like that.

“I don’t have to explain myself to you 'cause we all know that is not what happened.” I clenched my fists tightly. My goodness, how can one person get on my nerves like this?

“Oh, but it is! You didn’t stop Ethan from saying those words! So this what you called women empowerment huh?” She scoffed as if she was disappointed.

A whirlwind of frustration and disbelief swirled within me. How could she dare to talk about empowerment after what she did and said? I wanted to say a lot of mean things to her but deep down, I know that venting my anger to nonchalant people wouldn't improve things.

My eyes shifted toward Eli, and I shot him a withering glare. As he recoiled in response to my intense gaze, a strange sense of solace washed over me. Still, I decided not to dwell on it and simply said, “Leave and take her with you.”

“What makes you think I will follow you?” He raised his tone before standing up, he is using his Alpha tone to me.

“Fine, if you don’t leave here with her, I will go out tonight with my friends and sleep at Oliver’s club.”

Ethan grabbed my wrists, “You are not allowed to go there.” He was warning me. Even though his voice was calm, I could feel it.

“I'd rather stay with a smelly she-wolf and wolves driven by sex than stay here with wolves driven by madness.” I raised my voice and walked out.

I gasped when both of the twins grabbed my wrists, “You are not going anywhere tonight!” They exclaimed in unison.

“No! I don’t listen to anyone! I will go as I please—Ah!” I screamed when Eli suddenly lifted me and sprinted upstairs.

“What are you doing?! Let me go!” I furiously screamed and hit his hard-tone chest. I managed to get away from his hold but I realized I was already inside my room.

“You are not going anywhere.” Eli breathed, but I was stubborn enough to lift my head and glare at him.

“You are not the boss of me, I will do whatever I want!” I gritted my teeth. I flinched when he slammed the door before me.

I heard him harshly running downstairs as if there was a stampede. I gasped when he came back, locking the door behind him as his silver eyes filled with anger and desire.

“You’re staying here no matter what, if that also means I have to stay here until you fall asleep, I will do it.” He stated firmly. I know that look, his decision was final no matter what I say.

We stared at each other for a long time in silence. I am sure he is well aware of my stubbornness, I bet he is thinking how unlucky he is to be mates with me.
