I watched Alpha Viktor force a smile, as his gaze lingered between Lucille and Kieran.

"I hope you enjoyed yourselves at the ceremony yesterday." He mused.

There was this odd feeling I got from him. It was like he knew something was up. But I don't know, maybe I was just being paranoid.

Before Lucille could blurt out more fake trash, Kieran spoke up. "We'll be late for school, dad."

His gaze went to my mother and it was then that I realized that the douchebag was trying hard to avoid looking at me. Maybe he was struggling too. Maybe he felt the pressure from the mate bond too.

But would the stubborn Kieran ever be the bigger person and discuss it with me? Hmph, I'll first grow an extra head before he ever did that. And I didn't want him to anyway.

Without saying anything else, Kieran pulled Lucille along with him and hurried out of the dining room. When he walked past me, our eyes met for a few seconds and once again, just like the first time, it felt like time had stopped.
