"Our protection spells are down!" One of the hooded witches exclaimed as they all finally broke their interlocked hands.

I gasped heavily, trying to catch my breath from the effects of the spell they'd been casting on me right before the explosions.

"Umbra? Umbra are you there?" I called out to my wolf but got no response. Desperate, I also reached out to my other wolf. "Luna? Luna, come on, girl, we have to find a way out of here."

Still no response. My stomach tightened as I feared the worst.

The best-case scenario is that the ritual had probably severed my link with my wolves... Temporarily. The worst-case scenario was, that the witches might've already taken–
