Chapter 66

ZIYAH

The portal closed behind us, and I nearly fell to my knees with relief. Thankfully, Dante caught me and pulled me into his arms where I felt safe.

After a couple of minutes, I pulled away because I would break down crying if I let myself feel the emotions within me right now. It was not the time nor the place. We had others to take care of first. Then I could fall apart later when I was alone.

Jarin came running up to me, wrapping his arms around me. I knelt down so that we were closer to the same height and hugged him tightly. He cried into my shoulder, and I felt waves of relief, sadness, and hope coming from him. It was necessary for him to be able to process everything right now, so I gave him all the time that he needed wrapped up in my arms right now.

There was no telling what types of hell he had been through that led him to that feeding room. It was a horror that I wished he had never had to experience, but I was thankful that we had been able to get him out of there.
