"Dad, you slapped me," Emily said,with her voice trembling, her eyes welling up with tears.

She couldn't believe her father had raised a hand to her. It was the first time, and it hurt more than just physically.

Mr. Riggs felt a pang of pain seeing his daughter's tears, but he knew he had no other choice. He needed to take drastic measures to save himself and Emily from Kent's wrath. He took a deep breath and tried to compose himself.

" Emily, but you left me no choice," he said firmly. "Your behavior is unacceptable, and you need to learn that there are consequences to your actions. He said coldly, trying to be a tough man.

Emily's face crumpled, and she sobbed uncontrollably.

Mr. Riggs knew he had to be strong, for both their sakes. He turned to Kent, with his eyes pleading for understanding.

"Please Sir, give me a chance to fix this. I'll make sure Emily learns from her mistakes and becomes a valuable member of the team." He said and begged, even though he did not mean it.
