Maliyah
I was surprised when my mother invited me to be apart of the meeting with the dragon elders and council members. I haven’t been to one before so this is a first for me. I know they are going to want to discuss my new ability to shift into a wolf and it’s not like having another spirit with me. Leila has moved on, that I know for sure, but it’s like Terra now has the ability to shift into another creature. It’s apart of who we are now.
As I enter the conference room I see Aspen is already there and immediately looks right at me with a frown. I quickly avoid his gaze and take a seat between uncle Gabriel and dad. Every time I see him I feel like I am going to have a panic attack just at the mere thought of him hating me for what I now am. I know I am different and the first of a new species that will only grow.
Mom walks over to Aspen before taking her seat and that does
Aspen I am starting to get concerned with Maliyah avoiding me. I could see the worry and fear all over her face when her mother brought up her ability to shift into two creatures rather than one. After Maliyah shifts she flees the area after I see her mind link with her mother. I can tell Davina is worried about her daughter but she is leading this meeting. “I’ll go check on her,” I mind link Davina. “Thank you,” Davina responds. I follow Maliyah and find her by the lake. I stand back for a moment as I watch her play with the water using her powers. Sadness seems to be drowning her and the longer I watch her, the more sadness I see. I finally decide to approach her but I seem to have startled her as she takes a defensive stance and freezes the water into ice spears. The moment she realizes it’s me she relaxes. She continues to stand there nervously, fidgeting with her fingers. She
DavinaAkira has been restless these last few days. She keeps saying ‘it’s getting closer’, but hasn’t elaborated on what she means. I have given up trying to get her to answer me and do my best to ignore her; though I too feel like something is about to happen, I just don’t know what.“Akira still being ominous,” asks Derek as he wraps his arms around me from behind.“Yes and she won’t answer my questions.”Derek kisses the back of my shoulder as I lean my head against his. We gaze at the view from our window as the sun begins to set; creating an array of beautiful colors of pink, purple and light blue in the sky. Despite knowing we have an upcoming war, the dragon realm has been peaceful. I have enjoyed the down time we’ve had, giving us the family time we have been needing.
MaliyahI blink a few times to see my parents and Aspen staring at me. They must’ve known what was happening and appear to be waiting patiently for me to recover.“Are you okay,” asks dad.“I am more than okay,” I reply with a smile.“What did you see,” asks mom.“We need to start heading to the forbidden realm. He plans to attack tomorrow so I think we should throw him off his game and bring the battle to him before he tries to come here.”I can see why now the vision I had took place in the forbidden realm. I was meant to see their plans.“Why do you seem like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders,” asks Aspen.“In my vision, Alastor was talking to a witch and admitted the witch had forced the fake vision of dad and uncle Mark dying. It&rs
DavinaThe day is finally here. I can’t believe how much time has passed since I learned of this world and what I am. I was happy with my human life but I admit this life, this family I now have, brings me such great joy. I wouldn’t change a thing. Well, actually I would. I wish this road never led to the loss of Malayah and the unborn son I lost.Thankfully, upon arrival at the forbidden realm, we remained undetected. The leaders quickly worked together to establish a patrol and a rotation schedule. I am glad Aspen got Maliyah to agree to sleep; she’ll need the rest. I am hoping everyone will get a chance to rest. Based on Maliyah’s vision, the battle begins at dawn.“I have set up several hospital tents Luna. I have everything I can possibly think of for all types of injuries,” Dr. Ase reports.“Thank you Dr. Ase. Get some rest, you’ll need it,
DavinaI don’t know what came over me, but when Alastor spoke a switch flip. Anger coursed through me and I reacted before even I realized what I was doing. The fireball seems to have surprised Alastor and it hit him in his chest, sending him flying backgrounds. He shifts midair into his dragon and lets out a roar. The rogues push forwards, but he stands back. I scoff and shake my head as I charge forward with my warriors behind me. I can tell Alastor is confused since Maliyah is in her wolf form. He has no idea what she looks like.“Maliyah, stay in your wolf form for as long as you can. He doesn’t know you can shift into a wolf,” I mind link.“Okay mom.”“Aspen don’t make it too obvious by staying close to Maliyah. He’ll immediately know who she is if you are near.”&ldq
DerekI let Nero loose and he is not in the mood to spare anyone. Honestly, I am not either. Too many have died at these rogues hands, these traitors. Just as the rogues begin retreating into the woods with me right at their heels, a herd of horses appears out of no where and begins trampling on the rogues to death. The rogues appear shocked at their appearance, but also seem aware of their existence.I stop chasing the rogues to prevent from getting trampled myself, but they seem to be purposely avoiding me. I weave my way through the herd and just when I think one is about to run into me, it stops. We stare at each other for what seems like an eternity and seems as if it’s trying to communicate with me. It lets out a snort and begins chasing after the rogues.I don’t have time to ask questions as another battalion of rogues appear, but this time there are the zombie creatures we had been waiting for. For now it seems the horses are on
DerekDavina’s strength never ceases to amaze me. I mind link everyone to stand back and do not come near the forest as a tornado begins to form with fire swirling in it. She quickly wipes out the creatures, setting the forest on fire. The fire spreads quickly but I realize it’s not heading towards the battlefield, putting everyone in danger.I notice the wind is being controlled to keep the embers heading the opposite direction. I hear a cry out in the sky and panic as I see Davina falling towards the ground. As she gets closer to the ground, Davina shifts and I rush to her to catch her.Alastor is charging at Davina as she falls and there is nothing I can do but catch her.“Kat!”Out of the corner of my eye I see Kat and Maliyah rushing towards Alastor, hitting him
DerekTears are streaming down Maliyah’s face as she stares at me and Mark.“What’s wrong Maliyah,” Davina asks. “What did you see?”“It’s not supposed to be real. It’s not suppose to come true,” Maliyah cries.“What Maliyah,” I ask.“You and uncle Mark die.”“Do you mind telling us what you are,” says the Alpha mare.“Who are you,” ask Maliyah.“Let’s head to our tent to finish this discussion. Everyone rest and prepare for another wave. They will be back,” I tell the warriors as I and the rest of the shifter counsel members head to the war tent.“Dad you don’t understand, I saw it again. You and uncle Mark are going to die at the hands of those enhanced zombies. There will be too many of them and they will over power you!
Maliyah“Maliyah, the guests are arriving!”“Coming mom!”I quickly finish doing my hair in a half up pony tail style and curl it before doing my make up. I can’t believe it’s been almost five years since the war ended and here we are, celebrating my sixteenth birthday. I stop by my nightstand with my sister’s picture and use my powers to make the flowers in the vase bloom again.“Happy birthday sis,” I whisper as I head for the door.I throw on my Ariat boots, hoping towards the door as I put on one at a time. I almost collide with my door trying to put on my last boot as I grab the handle to open the door only to end up running into Aspen. I nearly fall backwards onto the floor, but Aspen reaches out and catches my arm to steady me.
DavinaI wake with a start that it startles Derek. Sweat is dripping down my face as Derek gently cups my face.“What’s wrong love,” he says looking around the room for an intruder.“I got to say goodbye to Malayah,” I whisper. He looks at me confused.“Okay, but what has you so scared?”I turn to Derek, making sure he is listening carefully. Worry is evident on his face as I take deep breaths to calm my racing heart. I need someone else to know what she told me.“Malayah said, ‘Beware of the new comer, darkness will come for her’.”“What does that even mean?”“I don’t know. I don’t even know exactly who she was talking about, but I think it’s Maliyah. I think she was talking about Maliyah and whoever Maliyah saw in t
DavinaThe twins have fallen asleep, Thierry on Derek, Accalia on Calista and Aiden in my arms. Everyone begins going home and we had back into the pack house. We lay the kids down for bed as does Mark and Daniela. It’s nice to see the children together, safe and sound and back to what was once normal. Things may not go back to what they were but we can find a new normal for our family. The last thing I do is prepare a room for my mother with the help of Kat and Daniela. We put her next to Calista as they seem to have hit it off and have become fast friends. I am over the moon that I get to have this opportunity to get to know my mother and learn more about my family. There is so much I don’t know. With mom back in the picture, it seems to have changed things for Kat. Now that Kat has been spending time with our mother and her granddaughter
DavinaWhen we all heard Derek and Maliyah playing I immediately mind link the whole pack to meet at the memorial. Our family gathered at it’s entrance, tears forming in our eyes. I haven’t heard her play in a long time. As pack members began arriving I open the back doors so they can hear too and started passing out candles and lighting them. Once everyone has a candle, I teleport Maliyah and Derek next to the memorial and they don’t miss a note. Families begin stepping up to the memorial and placing beautiful flower arrangements at the base.Dimitri utters a spell under his breath and tells me the flowers will never die, they will remain frozen in time. Celestia and Calista help pass out the Chinese sky lanterns and pens so everyone can write a message or just the name of a loved one that has been lost. I make one for my uncle Gabriel and parents that raised me as they now have no one le
MaliyahI can’t believe what I woke up to. Dr. Smith has been examining me and taking MRI’s of my brain. I am still in shock at everything I am being told. Mom and dad tell me everything I appear to be forgetting. We take several breaks as I am constantly crying over things I have forgotten.I remember some of the information they are telling me but not all of it. After a while I did start to remember the day my sister died but it still doesn’t feel real. I don’t remember being in a coma before and waking up to having another little brother. Uncle Kale died as well as uncle Gabriel and I haven’t been able to accept that yet.Uncle Gabriel has been around all my life, even before I learned what I was. I never imagined I would have to live my life without him.“Ma
DavinaWe’ve been in the dragon realm for the past week; going back and forth to the forbidden realm to explore it more. We want to ensure we had all he details, which Dimitri has written down so we won’t ever forget this day we now call The Day of Retaliation. It’ll always be a day we will mourn as many loved ones were lost that day, but we fought back against my brother and won. I wish there would’ve been another way, but my brother was too far gone. Once we were sure we didn’t miss anything, Dimitri and his coven sealed the realm away forever. The shifter counsel all agreed that it will be against our laws to step foot into that realm so it was best to seal it away to stop temptation. The horse shifters have been learning about the human world as it has changed a lot than from what their ancestors had told them. Technology is a new thing for them and they will remain on bear
DavinaIt’s finally over. It’s been six years since Derek came into my life and my world was turned upside down. Six years after finding out I was not at all human. My heart mourns for those that I have lost in all that time. The parents that raised me, my uncle Gabriel, Thierry who was like a second uncle to me and my biological parents though I didn’t even know it yet.My heart hurts for my sister. She has been an empty shell since we killed Alastor. She remains at Kale’s side though his soul is no longer attached to his body. He’s gone and there is nothing I can really do to comfort her.“Mom, let’s get you something to eat and drink. Please,” begs River but Kat doesn’t respond. She continues to stare at his body and grasp his hand. I think
Davina The minute Maliyah became unconscious her swirl of power dissipated. I drop the sphere of wind and see the zombie creatures are dropping one by one. I rush to Maliyah’s side in a panic with Kat right at my heals. “Maliyah!” Her head is bleeding badly and she is not responding at all. I quickly teleport her to Dr. Smith. “What happened,” asks Dr. Smith. “She hit her head on a rock and I am afraid she used more power than she can handle.” Kat pulls me away from Maliyah to give Dr. Smith room to work and I reluctantly back away. “Davina!” I look up and see Mark and Derek running into the tent. I can feel he is just as scared as I am right now. “Thank Ryuu you are okay. What happened to Maliyah?”
Davina “Maliyah we need you,” I yell through the mind link. Kat and I are trying to finish this once and for all but we both know we won’t win without Maliyah. Alastor creates a sphere of wind around him, pushing Kat and I off of him. I quickly search the field for Maliyah and instantly see what she is doing. Her vision of Derek and Mark dying, it’s happening. “We need Maliyah,” says Kat through the link. “She is needed else where right now. We need to keep him distracted long enough for her to accomplish what is needed and return to us,” I reply. Kat doesn’t question what I mean. We trust each other completely and I know we can hold him off until Maliyah comes back. “You two are a thorn in my side. It’s time for me to be an only child,” growls out Alastor. I know we a
