Chapter One

Ava's P.O.V

It's been raining cat and dog since midnight and it's past 8am now, I have a class by 9am, but I really don't feel up to it. I can hear the water running in the bathroom room, which can only mean that Summer, my roommate and Best friend is already awake.

I forced myself up and arranged the bed, Summer already made breakfast so I quickly started looking for what I'll wear to school before she's done using the bathroom.

As soon as I was done selecting my clothes, I heard the bathroom door open,

"Good morning Princess, It's a good thing you decided to join us in the land of the living today"Summer said smiling.

"You should have woken me up early Summy, you know I slept late" I told her

"Oh, I did try waking you up, severally,infact I recorded it, cos, I anticipated this moment"Summer replied

she brought out her phone and showed me a video of her trying to wake me up but I kept mumbling words that were incoherent.

We both laughed and I went to the bathroom to freshen up,when I came out, summer was not in the room, I got dressed quickly and joined her in the living room , we rushed through breakfast and dashed out the door , it's just drizzling now. Summer has a Toyota Camry so, she drove us to school.

Summer was a final year student studying Business and she will graduate in 2 months time, I still had 2 more years to go, before graduation

We arrived at the University by 8:56am, I quickly went for my class, luckily I made it in, just before Mr Adam our Neuroanatomy lecturer came in.

"So nice of you to join us,Mr Raymond" the Professor said, causing all heads to turn to the door and walking in was the most gorgeous man alive, Raymond Sphinx, just like me, every other girl in class was staring at this very very fine specimen of a man.

I knew what to expect next, Ray, was a walking Contradiction,he has the most handsome face you will ever see, and also the most disgusting personality to exist. He's being bullying me since high school, so color me surprised when I saw him in college again.

"If you are done staring, Ruby, please move so I can pass to my sit" Ray said, referring to the empty seat beside me, his voice was so loud that the whole class could hear him.

I have tried telling him to stop calling me Ruby since junior high, I gave up eventually, we are in our 4th year and everyone in class knows I'm the Ruby he's talking to.

I moved my legs, though Ray still found a way to brush it aside, I wasn't surprised, he would always sit close to me in every class just to Bully me.

Half way through the class, Ray, dropped a note on my desk.

"did you dream about me Ruby?, I hope you did,cos ,you were in mine" the note said.

I tossed the note aside, like I didn't know it existed.

After we were done with classes for the day, Summer and I drove back home.

"I don't know why you put up with Ray and his childish tactics,he's handsome, but he's not a god Ava, just tell him off already", summer said as we stepped into the house,clearly pissed off by the days event I told her about.

I smiled and looked at her, "we need to stock up on groceries,we are running out" I said as I opened the fridge, clearly trying to change the topic.

"we can do that tomorrow, I need to rest ,I'll be attending Chad's birthday Tonight, will you like to come too?"she said.

I shook my head,I don't like parties or any where Raymond can be found. as if reading my thoughts, she looked at me and said "Stop being a party pooper, Ava, Chad said Raymond won't be attending as his family would be in town today, so pleeeeasse, for me, I really don't want to go there alone."

Chad was Summer's boyfriend and he was also the only Friend Raymond had.

"Alright, Alright, enough with the puppy eyes already,I'll come, only, because I love you" I said smiling.

she gave a hug and went to the room. we share the room, but we sleep on different beds.

Summer came to the living room where I was studying, with a dress, it was a blue off shoulder dress with red flowery design on it, it was beautiful.

"This is for you my lady, we wouldn't want you wearing one of your baggie trousers and big t-shirts to the party now, would we?" she said with a mischievous grin.

I shook my head and took it from her, no point arguing, I've known Summer since Kindergarten and I know she always win.

I finished the Page I was reading and after taking turns in the bathroom,we got dressed and again summer drove us to the party.

It was a Mansion, not any Mansion, Raymond Sphinx's Mansion.

I turned to summer and gave her a "are you serious right now?" look.

"I know what you are thinking, Ray isn't here, his parents are in town so he will be at their penthouse this night, that's how Chad can use the place" she said.

I nodded,not comfortable with the idea but I went in anyway. I don't get the appeal for parties, indoor parties more, cos, why would anyone think it's fun to be in a place that smells like puke, alcohol, and sweat, with loud music trying to burst through your ear drum.

Summer was dancing with Chad, so, I went to the edge of the room, that seemed quiet and sat down. Summer came with drinks in her hands, I couldn't hear what she said, tho I drank from one of the cups she held, she gave me the second cup to hold and hurried off, I drank it too. She came back to empty cups, so she left to grab one for herself.

"The dress compliments your beautiful face Ruby" I looked up to see Ray staring at me.
