KIRA
Prince Dante was back from his trip.
How did I know?
The servants where all running round the castle, getting things tidied up, putting more food on the breakfast table, clearing the imaginary dusts off the couches and shining the portraits that hung on the wall. Not that they didn’t do these acts on a regular basis, but today, it was done with more precision and vigour. As I put a piece of toast in my mouth, I listened in on a conversation between the two female servants who were carrying fruit bowls to the other end of the table. It confirmed what I had already known.
Usually, the servants ignored me and never recognized my presence, hence they never knew that I listened to many of their gossips. It was not my business and I’m not a busy-body, but that’s the most interesting thing about breakfast. If I wasn’t as observant and nosy as I was, how would I have known that the head cook, Shirley, was secretly dating once of Dante
KIRANathaniel was being abused by his foster parents and didn’t have the courage to speak out about it. That was why he was so shy and closed off. How did the school find out he was abused? There were visible marks on his pale skin, belt marks, and they were discovered by our teacher.I don’t know where Nathaniel is today but I never forgot about him. It was when I realized that people were cruel and heartless.“There seems to be a story there.” Intuitive. “Care to share?”I shook my head. “I once had a friend who had a bad adoption experience.”“I see. Well, Ambrose was not by any means perfect. He had his many flaws and we argued almost to the point of killing each other.” There was no smile as he said that. “But he raised all six of us by himself and loved us each in his own unique way.”“Tell me more about your family, Master.” He knew about mine, so it
DANTEI did it.I kissed her, and fuck, it was worth the wait. Many nights I had dreamed of her lips of mine; I wondered how it would taste, how it would feel, how she would react to being kissed by a vampire.I didn’t have to worry about the last part because she was very receptive. I leaned in, her little heartbeat skipped with anticipation and went for the kill. Her soft lips parted, granting me to access to the sweet nectar of her mouth. My goal was to be as soft and tender as possible because I didn’t want to be a caveman and ravish her before she was ready. Her hands found mine in our warm embrace and she slid her warm fingers in between my cold ones.My fangs were elongating, begging to be brought out to have a taste of her blood. One bite to the lips, that was all there was to taste the delectable rarity that is her blood, but I wouldn’t let myself do it. After I had almost killed her, I vowed that I wouldn’t drink from her
DANTEThe only time Ambrose came to Castle Belfonte was when there was an emergency or there was a Council Meeting. Judging by the look on his face and the message via mind link, it was the former. A Council Meeting was not scheduled yet, to the best of my knowledge.“The sapphire ring is gone. It was stolen from the safe in my home.”What?“You seem awfully calm about that.” Ambrose sat across from me on the L-shaped couch, sipping the refrigerated blood with a calm demeanour. Ambrose and I are a lot alike in that respect; Luca used to say that we were scarily similar for people who were not related-always maintaining a clear head even in the face of clear danger.“Oh, I’m pissed,” he said. “But, I won’t let it show.”“When was it stolen?”“Today.”“My castle was raided yesterday while I was away on a courtesy visit.”A
DANTE“I don’t know who killed Seb, father. Orville stated it wasn’t him.”“Orville was Seb’s Beta. They were close. I did recall he mentioned his name numerous of times. Apparently they grew up together.”“Did Seb ever mention anything that was out of ordinary as regards Orville?”He thought about my question and shook his head. “No, nothing out of the ordinary. He only mentioned that Orville was nothing but a good friend.”Of course he did. Seb was practically a saint. He could never say anything bad about anyone, no matter how evil-intentioned they were. He could paint the devil white if he could.“We didn’t see Aila.” The cup in his hands stilled and that caught my attention. “Did he mention anything about Aila, father?” I knew Ambrose. There was something he was not saying, but I was relentless blood hound when I wanted answers. I was determi
DANTERon and Sage’s funeral was peaceful. I had paid my respects; I had visited the families of the deceased and reassured them that the blood of their beloved would not go unpunished and I intend to keep my word. The funeral was held at the ‘Tomb of Ours’, a special gravesite I had created outside the castle walls for my fallen guards during the Meritean War. The site was a large expanse of land, surrounded by tall grass and shrubs. I had chosen this location because it was the same spot my guards had died in in the Meritian war, thousands of them fallen right before my eyes and there was little I could do about it at the time. The funeral was tearful; they had families, they both had mates and Zander and I had heavy hearts. As I stared at their names engraved in stone, I vowed to find the ones responsible for their deaths. I owed it to their families because they, in a way, entrusted me with a soul and I had failed to protect i
DANTE“They are rogue vampires.”As we approached my throne room, he hands me a stamped file.“Coral and Zane Flynn, siblings, are rogue vampires and part of some sort of elite vampire cartel here in North America.”I loosened the tie around my neck and sat down on the couch, skimming through the contents of the file. I always had a feeling that they were rogue vampires, but I wanted to be sure before I made a decision. Rogues are a bloody nuisance, one which you could not get rid of, no matter how hard you tried. They were everywhere and they do cause disruptions from time to time. Ever since the war, their activities have been at an all time low, but they were still around and when they decide to show their faces, they made sure to leave a mess.Like the mess they left in the human territory, killing my girl’s family.Technically, Kira isn&r
KIRAThe kiss was a week ago. But it doesn’t mean I haven’t thought about it constantly-seven days, twenty-four hours and six-hundred and four-thousand, eight-hundred seconds.Yes, I had been counting.Every girl has that crush in high school, the one that they gawked and fawned over, and though I didn’t go to high school, I felt all giddy on the inside when he kissed me. His lips felt so warm, soft, gentle and he was tender- not too aggressive. He was my first real and willful kiss and I would constantly replay it till it buried the harm that Austen inflicted on me.But, the down-side of the crush was Dante was avoiding me.He had to be avoiding me because how do you kiss a girl and then act like she doesn’t exist? It’s very confusing and it definitely made me question if Prince Dante felt the same way I did. He wouldn’t have kissed me if he didn’t, I think. Regardless, I had my
DANTE“What did you tell, Kira?” I asked accusatorily. The guards I stationed to watch over Kira informed me that she was talking to Ellemea. Then, I met L=Kira in the hallway and she looked upset. She refused to look me in the eye when I asked her what was wrong and slipped from my grasp to her room.Ellemea closed the front door of the throne room, calmly and cautiously, then took her seat on the L-shaped couch.“Well, Good morning to you too, Dante,” she answered sarcastically. “I’m fine, thank you so much for asking. It’s not like you summoned me here early in the morning when I could be, I don’t know, mixing potions.”I narrowed my eyes at her. Those where not answers to my question.“What did you tell her?” I pressed. If Kira was so upset, it must have been something serious. I moved from my throne to join her on the couch and dismissed Zander for a few hours. He deserved the r
POISON KIRA My mother always told me that I was destined for a greater purpose, something absolutely bigger than I was. Eight-year old me was too young to truly grasp the sense of her words, but now I do, I believe this was what she meant. I was to be the one to stop Drisellda using Endgame. The knife was firmly secured in my hands as I was transported to the fight. My nerves were trying to get the best of me, but I wouldn’t let them win. I had to do this to save Dante and probably the whole of North America because from what I’ve heard and seen, Drisellda is a loose cannon. I was just in time to see Drisellda trying to kick Dante in the face but he avoided it via his super speed before she could connect with his face. I hid the knife in my robe and Dante spotted me. His eyes widened and pursed in confusion. He was by my side in a flash. “Kira, what are you doing here? I thought I said you should stay with Zander?” he reprimanded. I ignored his reproof. “
KIRADante and Emily where locked in a brawl. From Zander and I’s vantage point, I could see that Dante was trying to overpower her, but was failing miserably. Everytime he would come closer, she would recite a spell or do something to counter his attack. It wa pure chaos. And it didn’t help that glass shattering and door rattling could be heard from even the most silent corners of the castle, making me wonder what the fuck was going on.“We have to do something.” I grabbed Zander’s arm. “For God’s sake, we can’t just stay out here and do nothing! Don’t you see,” I gestured to Emily grabbing Dante by the neck and lifting him up. “She’s going to kill him.” I really did believe she was going to kill him because Emily was infected by the poison of black magic.Tears were threatening to spill but I wouldn&r
DANTEThe smell of death permeated the air as soon as I walked into her cell. I didn’t need to take further steps to know that a mini massacre had happened here- there was blood splatter everywhere, dried blood on the walls and on the window.I looked down on the floor and noticed that there was a dead body beside me, a body of one of my guards. He was lying in the pool of his own blood, a knife in his hands.“For fucks sake,” I muttered. I grabbed the bloodied knife from his pale, limp hands and side-stepped him. I walked in further, looking for any sign of my sister but there was none. Zander was right, she really did break her chains. They were lying haphazardly on the floor.Even though I couldn’t see her, I could smell her essence. Her cell wasn’t large, but it was big enough to accommodate ten people at most.“Emily, I’m not playing
KIRAI love you.” I wanted him to know that. I inched closer and wrapped my hands around his neck, straddling him. I wanted him to see my genuineness in the moonlight. “I love you so much.”“I love you, Kira Song. I meant it then,” he moved closer to my lips. “And I mean it now.”He closed the gap between us and our lips fell into a warm, delicate embrace. It was just us in our own little world, a mangled mess of bodies and moans. Dante said he loved me.I had waited for him to say those words to me since I came to the castle. My love wasn’t one-sided after all.Life is funny that way. If you pinched me years ago and told me that I would fall in love with a supernatural creature- a Vampire Prince for that matter- I would have laughed in your face and told you take a one way trip to hell. But it happened.
KIRAI cherished nights like this. The castle has had little or no action, but I could still feel that there was a little bit of tension. Call it a half-breed’s intuition.Dante was busy, I had watched him leave his room, Zander in tow as he was shooting rapid fire instructions at him. Being the ruler of a whole Kingdom was bound to be stressful and a lot of people relied on him. I understood that before me, he had a family, responsibilities and a duty to his people. We may be a ‘couple’ but I’ve never asked for more than he was willing to give me. It was more than enough.Despite his busy schedule, he always made out the time to see me in the comfort of the night. I think it was the one time where he truly felt free. He was just Dante and not Prince Dante. There was no title that shouldered and carried a weight of problems. Our relationship felt sacrilegious, almost tabo
DANTE“That aside, have you heard from Emily? She hasn’t talked to me nor has she visited and I am getting worried.” Ambrose said. Oh right, he didn’t know what was going on. “Do you know if she’s okay?”How do I tell Ambrose that his only daughter has gone mad due to black magic and she was currently in my dungeon chained like a wild animal?“You’re not saying anything? Did something happen to Emily?’A lot of things happened to Emily.“You might want to have another sip of blood before you hear this.” He may probably need a whole wine cellar. “Emily is alive.” He heaved a sigh of relief and I grimaced. “That’s good, but I feel something is off. You’re not telling me something. I know my children better than anyone.”I struggled to find the words. “Emily is alive, but barely.”“What?” he bellowed, his ey
DANTEEllemea excused herself to go see Emily after I told her Ambrose was here. I told Zander to let my father in. Ambrose walked in and he did not look pleased. I could feel his reprimand coming: the way the lines on his forehead would crease, his eyebrows would knot together like they were bound by an invisible string and his lips would form into a tight frown. When I was a young vampire, I used to dread making him angry. I didn’t want to disappoint the one man that treated me more like a son than my own flesh and blood. Now? I have more autonomy.“Really, Dante?” He was mad. The smoke on top of his head was burning with coal embers.“Good evening to you too, Ambrose,” I offered him my drink with a smirk. “What brings you to my humble abode?”“Dante Rosetti,” he used my government name. “Explain to me why I’m getting a frightened phone call from Master Rindall claiming that you visited t
“You’re late.”“I was busy.”I handed my jacket to Zander, and instructed him that we not be disturbed.“Doing?” she asked. I joined her on the couch in my throne room and raised a brow. Since when was she this nosy? “Nothing of particular concern for now.”“You smell like blood,” she observed. “Vampire blood, mixed with…drugs?.” Ellemea leaned in closer to observe me with suspicion. “What have you really been up to?”“Again, nothing that should concern you for now.” She may be persistent, but I was stubborn as hell.Thankfully, she dropped it and I dived right into the reason I called for her audience. “I know who killed Sebastian.”That caught her attention immediately and she widened her eyes. “Who did it?”“Emily.”“That’s impossible.”Was it r
DANTE“I’m looking for two people.”He raised a brow. “Oh?”“They are members of La Casa Blanche actually.”That made him slam the glass on the table rather loudly, drawing even more than the usual attention. “Why do you want to see them?”“You’re getting agitated,” I noted. “I haven’t even said their names.”I was walking on very thin ice, this I needed to thread carefully. One small slip-up and everything would go to shit.“Do engage me, Prince Dante, who are the members you’re looking for?”“Coral and Zane Flynn.”The bastards that murdered Kira’s family. He threw another drink back and was silent for a while, looking at everywhere but me, before his eyes regained their focus.
