KIRA
The kiss was a week ago. But it doesn’t mean I haven’t thought about it constantly-seven days, twenty-four hours and six-hundred and four-thousand, eight-hundred seconds.
Yes, I had been counting.
Every girl has that crush in high school, the one that they gawked and fawned over, and though I didn’t go to high school, I felt all giddy on the inside when he kissed me. His lips felt so warm, soft, gentle and he was tender- not too aggressive. He was my first real and willful kiss and I would constantly replay it till it buried the harm that Austen inflicted on me.
But, the down-side of the crush was Dante was avoiding me.
He had to be avoiding me because how do you kiss a girl and then act like she doesn’t exist? It’s very confusing and it definitely made me question if Prince Dante felt the same way I did. He wouldn’t have kissed me if he didn’t, I think. Regardless, I had my
DANTE“What did you tell, Kira?” I asked accusatorily. The guards I stationed to watch over Kira informed me that she was talking to Ellemea. Then, I met L=Kira in the hallway and she looked upset. She refused to look me in the eye when I asked her what was wrong and slipped from my grasp to her room.Ellemea closed the front door of the throne room, calmly and cautiously, then took her seat on the L-shaped couch.“Well, Good morning to you too, Dante,” she answered sarcastically. “I’m fine, thank you so much for asking. It’s not like you summoned me here early in the morning when I could be, I don’t know, mixing potions.”I narrowed my eyes at her. Those where not answers to my question.“What did you tell her?” I pressed. If Kira was so upset, it must have been something serious. I moved from my throne to join her on the couch and dismissed Zander for a few hours. He deserved the r
KIRAIt had been a week since Ellmea told me the truth about my parents and how they summoned her. I was mad before bur not anymore. Being mad doesn’t change the past and it certainly wouldn’t bring my parents back to life. It was still puzzling why they would sacrifice their lives for me. Did they know I would become some powerful creature? Where they really witches to begin with? I had so many questions about my past and those questions could only be answered by the people who were six-feet under the ground. In other news, the castle is a bit on the edge.Something was happening in Castle Belfonte, or dare I say, North America in general. The stench of something extremely terrible was looming and I’m no prophetess of doom, but I could feel it and my instincts were never wrong. Another indicator of something terrible possibly happening was Prince Dante’s attitude. We still haven’t talked about that kiss yet and everytime our paths
DANTECatching Nick was fairly easy. He was not even trying to make himself scarce and I was hell-bent on exhausting every means necessary to find him. Of course, I also had the help of Ellemea.Getting Nick to tell me what the fuck was going on? That was an arduous task. He refused to breathe a word, no matter how much he was tortured. I never liked him to begin with so torturing him for two days was a great pleasure of mine. I knew what made werewolves tick and the whip laced in wolfsbane was their greatest enemy. My anger was burning bright and no matter how many times he screamed and thrashed through the chains at the bottom of the underground tunnel, he wasn’t going anywhere. That would teach him that touching what was mine would get you killed. How his pea brain thought he could break into my castle without me finding out was beyond me. When Ellemea first said his name, after identifying him via the CCTV footage, I couldn’t believe
DANTE“Why’d you do it Emily, and Satan help you that you don’t answer my questions right here and right now. Ambrose would not save you from my wrath, and neither would Andre, William, Luca, or Simeon. Don’t test me because I could replace those invisible chains with real ones.” I wasn’t going to torture her. I don’t do that to women, but she made me want to break my unspoken rule. When I heard from a guard that Emily was in Kira’s room, my innate sense to protect her from my own sister kicked in. I knew they talked, but Emily wasn’t the same as the one who had nursed Kira back to health. I feared for Kira’s life which is why I barged into her room like a rabid dog, unhinged. If she hurt Kira, if a single hair was plucked from her head, I had no idea what I would have done. But it wouldn’t have been pretty. What she and Nick did warranted death without trial by the Council. I would deal with the
KIRAEmily practicing black magic explained a lot.It explained why she looked the way she did and why her being smelt like death. However, it doesn’t explain the vision I had when I touched her. She was kissing a woman, whilst being with Nick and she gave the said woman something. It also doesn’t explain that she killed a man.My powers, I’ve come to the conclusion that I may have the gift of peering into people’s past, has never steered me wrong. I mean, it worked on Prince Dante so I’m convinced that there was more to my ‘vision’ than the naked eye could see. I hadn’t told anyone about it yet: my first choice was to go to Prince Dante because no doubt this information would be very crucial, but again, he was making himself scarce. I also heard, via gossips from the servants, that lately, he was in an extremely foul mood. I had heard him yell at a couple of guards for not doing their jobs corre
KIRADante saw what I had in my hand as I emerged from the bathroom and his eyes widened so much that I thought they were going to pop out of his sockets. “No, Kira.” His surprise turned to staunch disapproval. “I know what you want to do and the answer is no. I do not approve of it. Remember what happened last time.”That was then. This is now.In a flash , he was in front of me, trying to pry the knife from my fingers, but I wasn’t having it. “You need to feed.” He thought he was stubborn, but my name was Kira Song. “Drink from me.”He inched closer to me till our breaths were intertwined and breaths heavy. “No. I don’t want to hurt you. ““Let me decide that.” His grip on my right hand, the one with the knife, loosened, and I saw that as an opportunity to back away from him. He was temptation personified and if he were to kiss me, he would not feed and my mind wo
DANTE When I started seeing Kira as more than just a pet, I knew that things were not going to be the same. From the waves of her red hair, to her creamy skin, to her heart-shaped lips, she captured my attention in ways even Dahlia couldn’t. She was my kryptonite, the one I would go above beyond for. If my enemies knew that, knew who she was, then it was going to be a problem because they would try to use her against me. Thus far, that hasn’t happened, and for now, I’m cherishing the moment-our moment together with her wrapped up in my arms. She thought I didn’t want her; she thought I didn’t want to take her virginity. Fuck, she was tempting and I wanted all that. I wanted my baby to have her first everything with me-first laugh, first kiss, first dance, first sexual experience-I wanted us to have that together. Her assumptions where irking. But I wanted her-well us to have sex when she was ready. Now wasn’t the time and I could tell by the beating o
DANTEI felt like shit.It was a feeling that was commonplace when Kira related her harrowing experiences as a human living in a vampire-controlled world. If I could turn the back the hands of time, fuck if I had met her before, I would have saved her, rescued her and protected her from all this drama. I knew that vampires weren’t the nicest beings to humans but starving, drugging and pushing human girls to brink of suicide? That was a deal breaker, even for me. I was going to shut down that place.Fuck the Council. But first I needed names, names of those who laid a finger on my beloved. I wasn’t one for excessive violence, but if it was for Kira, I’d take down a thousand armies.“Names,” I kissed her lips. “I need names, baby.”She contemplated about talking for a few seconds, her eyes looking at me sceptically. “I know enough about you, Dante. What are you going to do?” she whispered s
POISON KIRA My mother always told me that I was destined for a greater purpose, something absolutely bigger than I was. Eight-year old me was too young to truly grasp the sense of her words, but now I do, I believe this was what she meant. I was to be the one to stop Drisellda using Endgame. The knife was firmly secured in my hands as I was transported to the fight. My nerves were trying to get the best of me, but I wouldn’t let them win. I had to do this to save Dante and probably the whole of North America because from what I’ve heard and seen, Drisellda is a loose cannon. I was just in time to see Drisellda trying to kick Dante in the face but he avoided it via his super speed before she could connect with his face. I hid the knife in my robe and Dante spotted me. His eyes widened and pursed in confusion. He was by my side in a flash. “Kira, what are you doing here? I thought I said you should stay with Zander?” he reprimanded. I ignored his reproof. “
KIRADante and Emily where locked in a brawl. From Zander and I’s vantage point, I could see that Dante was trying to overpower her, but was failing miserably. Everytime he would come closer, she would recite a spell or do something to counter his attack. It wa pure chaos. And it didn’t help that glass shattering and door rattling could be heard from even the most silent corners of the castle, making me wonder what the fuck was going on.“We have to do something.” I grabbed Zander’s arm. “For God’s sake, we can’t just stay out here and do nothing! Don’t you see,” I gestured to Emily grabbing Dante by the neck and lifting him up. “She’s going to kill him.” I really did believe she was going to kill him because Emily was infected by the poison of black magic.Tears were threatening to spill but I wouldn&r
DANTEThe smell of death permeated the air as soon as I walked into her cell. I didn’t need to take further steps to know that a mini massacre had happened here- there was blood splatter everywhere, dried blood on the walls and on the window.I looked down on the floor and noticed that there was a dead body beside me, a body of one of my guards. He was lying in the pool of his own blood, a knife in his hands.“For fucks sake,” I muttered. I grabbed the bloodied knife from his pale, limp hands and side-stepped him. I walked in further, looking for any sign of my sister but there was none. Zander was right, she really did break her chains. They were lying haphazardly on the floor.Even though I couldn’t see her, I could smell her essence. Her cell wasn’t large, but it was big enough to accommodate ten people at most.“Emily, I’m not playing
KIRAI love you.” I wanted him to know that. I inched closer and wrapped my hands around his neck, straddling him. I wanted him to see my genuineness in the moonlight. “I love you so much.”“I love you, Kira Song. I meant it then,” he moved closer to my lips. “And I mean it now.”He closed the gap between us and our lips fell into a warm, delicate embrace. It was just us in our own little world, a mangled mess of bodies and moans. Dante said he loved me.I had waited for him to say those words to me since I came to the castle. My love wasn’t one-sided after all.Life is funny that way. If you pinched me years ago and told me that I would fall in love with a supernatural creature- a Vampire Prince for that matter- I would have laughed in your face and told you take a one way trip to hell. But it happened.
KIRAI cherished nights like this. The castle has had little or no action, but I could still feel that there was a little bit of tension. Call it a half-breed’s intuition.Dante was busy, I had watched him leave his room, Zander in tow as he was shooting rapid fire instructions at him. Being the ruler of a whole Kingdom was bound to be stressful and a lot of people relied on him. I understood that before me, he had a family, responsibilities and a duty to his people. We may be a ‘couple’ but I’ve never asked for more than he was willing to give me. It was more than enough.Despite his busy schedule, he always made out the time to see me in the comfort of the night. I think it was the one time where he truly felt free. He was just Dante and not Prince Dante. There was no title that shouldered and carried a weight of problems. Our relationship felt sacrilegious, almost tabo
DANTE“That aside, have you heard from Emily? She hasn’t talked to me nor has she visited and I am getting worried.” Ambrose said. Oh right, he didn’t know what was going on. “Do you know if she’s okay?”How do I tell Ambrose that his only daughter has gone mad due to black magic and she was currently in my dungeon chained like a wild animal?“You’re not saying anything? Did something happen to Emily?’A lot of things happened to Emily.“You might want to have another sip of blood before you hear this.” He may probably need a whole wine cellar. “Emily is alive.” He heaved a sigh of relief and I grimaced. “That’s good, but I feel something is off. You’re not telling me something. I know my children better than anyone.”I struggled to find the words. “Emily is alive, but barely.”“What?” he bellowed, his ey
DANTEEllemea excused herself to go see Emily after I told her Ambrose was here. I told Zander to let my father in. Ambrose walked in and he did not look pleased. I could feel his reprimand coming: the way the lines on his forehead would crease, his eyebrows would knot together like they were bound by an invisible string and his lips would form into a tight frown. When I was a young vampire, I used to dread making him angry. I didn’t want to disappoint the one man that treated me more like a son than my own flesh and blood. Now? I have more autonomy.“Really, Dante?” He was mad. The smoke on top of his head was burning with coal embers.“Good evening to you too, Ambrose,” I offered him my drink with a smirk. “What brings you to my humble abode?”“Dante Rosetti,” he used my government name. “Explain to me why I’m getting a frightened phone call from Master Rindall claiming that you visited t
“You’re late.”“I was busy.”I handed my jacket to Zander, and instructed him that we not be disturbed.“Doing?” she asked. I joined her on the couch in my throne room and raised a brow. Since when was she this nosy? “Nothing of particular concern for now.”“You smell like blood,” she observed. “Vampire blood, mixed with…drugs?.” Ellemea leaned in closer to observe me with suspicion. “What have you really been up to?”“Again, nothing that should concern you for now.” She may be persistent, but I was stubborn as hell.Thankfully, she dropped it and I dived right into the reason I called for her audience. “I know who killed Sebastian.”That caught her attention immediately and she widened her eyes. “Who did it?”“Emily.”“That’s impossible.”Was it r
DANTE“I’m looking for two people.”He raised a brow. “Oh?”“They are members of La Casa Blanche actually.”That made him slam the glass on the table rather loudly, drawing even more than the usual attention. “Why do you want to see them?”“You’re getting agitated,” I noted. “I haven’t even said their names.”I was walking on very thin ice, this I needed to thread carefully. One small slip-up and everything would go to shit.“Do engage me, Prince Dante, who are the members you’re looking for?”“Coral and Zane Flynn.”The bastards that murdered Kira’s family. He threw another drink back and was silent for a while, looking at everywhere but me, before his eyes regained their focus.
