Chapter 42

Kristine was taking her fifth tour round the house. The place seemed bigger with each tour, quite unusual such that she began to doubt her own sanity. She had a lot on her mind and she was trying out some distraction mechanisms. She tried seeing a movie but got bored, tried reading a book but couldn’t get the words past her eyes, the laundry was a no go area as she was put off by just the sight of the clothes. Nothing seemed to click for her and so she settled for touring her home.

Thoughts of Alexander weighed her down. ‘Maybe if I had taken Camille’s advice and reported myself before the hit, things would have been different' she thought. Now the person she cherished didn’t want anything to do with her.

Another thought came to Kristine’s mind, telling Alexander about the pregnancy. But there were doubts as well. She imagined how he would react since she wasted time in letting him in on it. That could be another problem and she was definitely not ready for more.
