CHELSEA

The sweet scent of fried eggs with pasta threatened to invade Chelsea’s nose if she didn’t get up any time soon.

She sighed in pleasure, enjoying the scent and hugged the pillow to herself, not wanting to get up.

But,

Wait!

Fried eggs!

Pasta!

Pillow?!

What was happening?! Wasn’t she supposed to be at work?

She sprang up immediately from the bed immediately those words registered in her brain and looked around frantically, wondering where she was.

Where was she?

She looked left and saw a door which linked probably to a closet or bathroom and looked right and saw another door. She was about getting up from the bed when she caught sight of a familiar figure in a huge portrait hanging on the wall. She stared intently, trying to recall where she knew him from and she did.

Aiden!

Aidenow did she get there?

Her mind flashed to when she was at the karaoke, singing and dancing to the distaste of the audience and her beating him up before the Blondie intervened.

Speaking of Maxwell and Blondie, where are they?

Trying to find the answers to her questions, she stood up from the bed but failed when she fell back again.

Geez!

‘Had she drank that much?’, she asked no one in particular and tried to get up again. This time, with the help of the bed.

She walked first to the door by her left and found the bathroom and was awed by the sight.

Everything screamed wealth and cleanliness. From the ever sparkling tiles on the wall and the shining that she could almost see her reflection. Even the golden bathtub wasn’t left out.

‘He’d probably be an heir or something’, she thought.

‘I wasn’t wrong after all’, she stared at herself in the mirror and immediately retracted her gaze in horror

Was that her?

The dried drools which had oozed from her mouth, creating a white mark on her face, her eyes had bags, severe one, like she didn’t sleep throughout the night and to crown it all, her hair. Her hair was scattered that strands stood out on each side, two in the left, two in right, on in the middle and maybe another one in the back.

She looked like a zombie!

There was no way she was allowing Valerian to see her that way, definitely no way.

Using the tap, she sprinkled the water and used it to wash her face until she looked better. She looked around and saw a stack of toothbrush in a cup on the sink and then, checked her breath which she immediately regretted.

Everything about her stank!

She was never going to drink again! Never!

How she humiliated herself!

She’d deal with that Blonde who brought up the idea of clubbing just to save his friend.

With that, she took a tooth brush and applied the paste before using. She spat the paste after and when she confirmed nothing was in her mouth again, she cleaned her mouth with the towel and stared at herself again in the mirror.

In the reflection, she caught sight of the shower and bathtub and the thought of having a bath crossed her mind but she opted to pass.

Taking your bath in a male’s house without his knowledge was just not ideal, so she cancelled the thought from her head and focused on arranging her messed up hair. She let her hands into the hair and straightened it, allowing it fall freely down her waist since she didn’t have an hair band with her.

She stared at her reflection in the mirror and was pleased with her look.

“Perfect.”, she flashed a smile and stroke a pose as if she was being shot for a magazine cover.

She left the bathroom and decided to tour the other door she saw there, what she thought to be the closet.

She was about to open the door when she heard her phone’s ringtone.

Thinking it was hers, she rushed to the bedside table and immediately clicked the ‘Answer’ icon without looking at the Caller ID.

“Aiden what happened? You refused to pick my calls throughout yesterday! I was dead worried about you!”, a female’s voice rang though the speaker.

Chelsea was about replying the person when her words entered her head.

Aiden?

She removed the phone from her ear and stared it, that was when she realized she was it wasn’t hers.

Hers was a silver pouch designed with bunny ears but this was plain black.

“Your father is worried about you even though he may not say it. The future of Xylem lies in your hand...”, the woman continued speaking.

She was about saying that it wasn’t Valerian with the phone to avoid her wasting her energy but the woman gave no room for interruption.

The future of Xylem? In Aiden’s hands? As what?

‘OK, This is getting interesting’, I thought and decided to listen to whatever the woman had to say.

“...You’re the heir to the throne! The Crowned Prince and if you must ascend to the throne, you need a bride!”

I was about to drop the phone and let her continue ranting when I heard her last sentence.

The phone nearly dropped from my hand.

Wait, what?

Heir to the throne?!

Crowned Prince?!

Xylem?!

Aiden? Aidem was... a prince?

Impossible!

I was still trying to digest what I just heard when Valerian walked into the room walked into the room with a big smile and a tray of what I thought to be the fried eggs and pasta which woke me up.

I just stared at him in shock.

‘He?’, was a Prince?

Or maybe… I was dreaming?

He sensed my uneasiness and was about to speak when the woman’s voice boomed through the speaker again.

I thought I cut the call already.

“Aiden? Aiden, are you there? Wait, you’re not Val are you?”

Great! Perfect timing.

Aiden heard the voice and immediately, he snatched the phone from my hand and stared at the caller.

When he saw the caller, his entire body tensed and he immediately cut the call and shot me a pleading gaze but I was hearing none of it.

“Your… your… you’re a prince?”

AIDEN

After his father’s call, Aiden arranged the guest room by himself, since he lived alone, always loving the private and peaceful atmosphere.

He chuckled as he placed the bedspreads in the guest room. That was meant to be the room for Chelsea, being the guest but as it stands, he was the guest, staying in the guest room.

After arranging the bed and having a cold bath, he got on his bed, with his face to the ceiling but he couldn't sleep as Damon’s suggestion kept on playing in his head.

He sighed.

If he were to tell her, what was he going to tell her?

That he was a Prince?

Was he going to set up a contract or...?

Gosh!

It felt frustrating!

He reached for his phone on the bed table to check the time but surprisingly, it was empty.

Where was it?

That was when he remembered that he had left in his room when he took a last look at Chelsea.

‘Forget it, I’ll just get it the next day.’

His stomach grumbled loudly and that was when I remembered that he hadn’t had anything apart from the drinks he had with Maxwell and Damon.

He was forced to get up and found his way to the sitting room which was still lit up. He got to kitchen and checked the cupboards first, of which all was empty, then the fridge which was properly stocked with edible materials ranging from fruits; apples, grapes, berries, to foods; lasagne, pasta, to snacks; pancakes, bread and all kinds of juice; fruit juice.

He smiled. Nana was getting a bonus for the month.

He opted for pasta with an orange juice.

After the meal, he decided to check on Chelsea since he couldn’t sleep and he didn’t want to return to those disturbing thoughts.

There she was, sleeping peacefully with a warm smile on hee face while he was there, thinking of how to make her become his.

He smiled, getting infected by her smile and stared at her and the thoughts of what she had done to he ever since they mat crossed his mind and a chuckle escaped his lips.

Did she think he was a weakling?

He, a disciple of the King of Martial arts world?

He didn’t even know why he allowed her to beat him severally, maybe because he knew she was trained. She didn’t hit any of his vital parts during the hit. That was Maxwell’s work.

But that wasn’t the time to think, he shook the thoughts from his head and walked into her room, trying to be as silent as he could.

He crept towards her and then as if an unknown force bewitched him, he leaned towards her and was able to get a good look at her elegant face.

He’d just stare at her and leave, he thought. But the force laughed, having other intentions.

He leaned closer and closer until there was no space left between them, close that he could not only hear her faint breathing, but he could also feel her hot breath against his warm skin.

That was enough to awaken the force in him completely. He took in her full lips and sucked them severely, as if his life depended on them and to his horror, she reciprocated, also taking also taking him in and that was it, they engaged into a fierce battle of dominance, with no one backing down. His hands found their way to her body and was about to move to her face when she suddenly moved and opened her eyes abruptly, shocking Valerian.

Her hazel eyes gazed deeply into his, as if searching for something and then, she smiled at him.

“Gotcha’! Perv,” she muttered and closed her eyes to sleep as if nothing happened.

Aiden’s whole body tensed.

What just happened?

He wanted to leave but he had to make sure she was fast asleep.

As if heavens heard his prayers, her faint breaths were heard. He heaved a sigh of relief before getting up and slowly and walked out, closing the door behind him.

He hoped she wouldn’t recall anything the next day. Heading to his room, he threw himself on the bed and was immediately transported into the land of unconsciousness.

**THAT MORNING**

Aiden was up before 7AM and got to the bathroom to have his daily morning rituals done before going to Chelsea’s room. She was still asleep but she was no longer snoring like last night, the alcohol already washing off.

He proceeded to the kitchen and set out to work, first making chicken pepper soup, knowing she would have an hangover when she was awake and then, he got to the main dish; pasta with fried eggs.

Yeah, he was also a chef. As the future king, he had been given aristocratic training and since he realized he didn’t like anyone preparing his dish apart from Nana, he was ever glad to cook.

AN HOUR LATER

AIDEN

I finished the cooking and set everything on the tray before heading to her room, planning to wake her if she was still asleep. But to my surprise, I found her on a phone call and her expression wasn’t good.

Was that Max?

When she saw me, her gaze changed completely to that of shock.

What’s wrong? Is she having a batch of mood swings now? Or had she… ?

My breath hitched at the thought that she remembered what happened last night and I got ready to explain when I heard a familiar voice from the phone speaker.

“Aiden? Aiden, are you there? Wait, you’re not Val are you?”

Wait, MOM?!

I immediately grabbed the phone from her hand and checked the caller.

No way! Mother!

She must have blurted out something and made Chelsea realize who he was.

And he was right,

“You…your…you’re a prince?”

Now, what am I going to tell her?
