[Ciaran’s POV]

I stare at the woman leaning against the wall, clutching her ribs while her whole body shakes. She’s clearly weak and useless, but even now in this place with two monsters so close to her, she’s staring fiercely like a lioness ready to attack at any second.

Smirking, I continue to watch her while the delicious scent I smelt earlier on wraps around me.

So it was you. I think inwardly, understanding what this meant and hating that such a weak fucking human was the one the goddess intended for me.

“Please,” she repeats now, taking my silence as disagreement. “I’ve promised to give you what you want, so please…”

“Shut up!” Jeffrey growls, lashing out at the woman again only to be stopped by me. “What the hell are you doing?” He roars, turning on me. “You dare touch me when you’re…”

“I’m what?” I ask, testing his arm until I can feel the bones beginning to break. “What am I?”

Of course, I already knew what he was going to say. I was his lackey. I was hired to help him deal with the very woman I was now helping. But frankly, I didn’t come here for any of this. I only came because I was bored and needed some light amusement to entertain me for the time being.

That was always the reason I came along for these ridiculous missions: because I was so fucking bored that I didn’t mind bloodying my hands a bit so that I could forget the boredom that I was feeling.

“You’re…” Jeffrey continues, losing some of his gusto. “You’re…”

“Pathetic,” I spit, giving a strong twist so his arm snaps completely. “Hiring me to help you deal with one woman. Are you that fucking weak that you can’t even do that?”

“You,” he growls, ignoring my question entirely. “Are you really defying me?”

“How can I defy you when you were never my boss?” I counter.

“You son of a…” He snarls, surging forward and swinging, only for me to grab his head and then drop to the ground so that I can slam it against the cold linoleum.

“You really shouldn’t have hit me.” I chuckle, enjoying the fear that was beginning to form in his eyes. “Maybe then I would have spared you.”

Finished speaking, I grab his hair and pull, then slam his head on the ground again and again until the pathetic fucker stops moving.

“Weak,” I grumble, dissatisfied with how quickly he died from such a simple beating. “Not even worthy of considering yourself my equal.”

Tsking, I stand up and look down at the blood that covers my hand before remembering the woman who is now sitting on the ground with wide eyes.

“What?” I ask, noting how pale she looks as she looks from Jeffrey to me. “Weren’t you the one that asked me to help you?”

“I…” she whispers, clearly too stunned to properly speak. “I did, but you…”

“I what?” I ask, moving forward and then crouching so I can stare into her gray eyes that are churning beautifully, just like a hurricane that lazily moves across the sea. “Say it, sweetheart. Use your words.”

I had to admit, up close, she was quite breathtaking with those dark eyes that complimented her raven black hair and pale skin perfectly. She was almost like a doll, with a well-toned body and perfect curves that enticed me while she grinded against that fucking pole earlier.

“You killed him.” She finishes, her eyes widening. “You killed him and…”

“And you’re now an accomplice to the crime.” I chuckle, standing and offering a hand. “Now, get off your fat ass and come with me. You’ve got a promise to uphold, and I’m not a patient man.”

For a moment, the woman doesn’t speak as she continues to stare at me blankly, but after another pause, she seems to snap out of it, and a look of anger flashes in those stormy eyes that were threatening to drag me into their depths.

“Did you,” she hisses, her gaze narrowing. “Did you just call me fat?”

Seeming to snap out of her daze, she stands up and glares at me.

“Cute,” I chuckle, feeling like a kitten was trying to intimidate me. “And I didn’t call you fat; I called your ass fat.”

"That's still calling me fat," she counters, flaring up. "You should apologize."

"Would you prefer me to have called your ass perky?"

"I would prefer you not talk about my ass at all." She huffs.

"Too bad," I smirk. "It's a nice ass. Your tits are pretty fucking nice too."

Instantly, she starts to sputter in disbelief, but when her gaze shifts to Jeffrey, I see the fear from earlier begin to return.

“Don’t worry about him,” I announce, reaching out and grabbing her hand so I can pull her against my body. “My men will come and deal with his body before your boss discovers his body.”

“Your people,” she repeats. “You’re sounding like you’re part of some secret society.”

“And if I am?” I challenge, trying to ignore her scent as it entices me. “Is that an issue?”

“N-no,” she squeaks. “I mean, as long as that society isn’t going to attempt to kill me.”

At her words, a bark of laughter escapes me as I wonder if she knows how fucking ridiculous she sounds saying such a thing. Like the underworld would give two shits about a single human woman. Honestly, I don’t even know why Jeffrey hired me to try to help him deal with her, but she was so insignificant that I didn’t intend on bothering with her in the future.

“Trust me,” I manage after the laughter ceases. “They wouldn’t give two shits about you, and you’d be wise to not concern yourself with them either.”

“Why?” She asks, seeming to regain some of her vibrato. “What would happen if I did?”

“You’d end up dead before you could even blink. Now, come on, or do you intend to take the blame for your deceased buddy?”

“No!” She gasps, clinging to me. “Let’s go. I don’t care where; just get me the hell away from him.”

"Remember your words later, sweetheart." I warn, feeling my dick throb from having her hanging on me like this. "Because I intend to take you somewhere so you can fulfill your end of our deal."

Finished speaking, I give her a suggestive look, making sure that she is aware of what I mean, although I'm certain she knows.

"I understand," she murmurs, though her cheeks flush a delicious pink and her bottom lip juts into her mouth so her teeth can worriedly chew it, only further enticing me.

"Keep that up," I husk, grabbing her chin. "And I'll claim my reward right here and now with your dead buddy watching the whole fucking thing."
