"Wait up, June. You're forgetting your mask" Anita called out as she saw her friend rush out of the dressing room headed to the bar. It was a Friday night and Friday nights were the busiest for everyone that worked at the club. "Thanks, Ann" June Skylar called out as she rushed back to the vanity to pick up and put on the mask she had worn ever since she started working at Emmys Club. "Just relax, Okay? Take a deep breath" Anita offered and continued after June had taken one and then another, "Everything will be alright. Okay?" She stood on tiptoes and gave her friend a brief hug and she went back to struggling to put her hose on. Just like every stripper at Emmys on Friday nights, Anita and June were performing too and the manager was going to have both of their heads on a platter if they weren't out in five minutes. "Yeah, it has to be" June nodded, dragged another deep breath and tried to regain the composure she had momentarily lost. Everything was going to be alright.
June was finding it hard to focus on entertaining the eager customers after the news she had received not quite long ago. Cancer had depreciated her mum's health and if June wasn't successful in raising over a hundred dollars to settle the hospital bills, it would finally finish her off completely. The stranger's eyes followed her as she made her movements round and round the pole with as much grace and talent as she could muster up. His eyes were glued to her and June felt oddly exposed. Two years of watching men watch her was enough to give her insights on the typical male behavior and their intentions as they looked at her but for the first time since June became a stripper, she was having issues reading the strange man. What did that stare mean? "You did so well tonight, Amber" Stephen said as he passed the envelope that contained her pay to her after she had closed for the night. "Do more performances like that and you'd be very rich in no time" he advised. June gave a br
"What did the man want?" Anita's voice brought June back to the present. "He wanted to compliment me" June sighed as she started arranging her stuff to fit into her tote bag she used for work. "Compliment?" Anita wasn't exactly convinced but June wasn't in the mood to indulge Anita's curiosity. "Yeah, compliment. I have to go" she gave her friend a quick hug as she headed for the door, it was way past visiting hours and something urgent had come up anyways at the hospital and her attention was needed urgently which made her more anxious than she had felt in months. What was wrong this time around? She couldn't wrap her mind around what could have gone wrong but she was getting agitated as the minutes went by. It had been a long day and an even longer night and June was beyond exhausted. Two shifts at the coffee shop, one at the convenience store and then the intense pole dancing session, June wanted to curl up with a Michael Myers movie and sleep afterwards but fi
June's 5am alarm rang and she woke up with a jolt. She was laying in bed, in an unknown place and with a....man? It took her a few minutes for her brain to catch on with her environment and she started remembering. A man had approached her after her performance and made an offer she couldn't refuse which had landed her in the room she was in at the moment. Morals weren't exactly a driving force when the arrangement ended up with way more than she could have earned working all three jobs for a year. The plan was to wake up earlier than the stranger and leave before he woke up but somehow she had over slept. June was grateful the alarm had woken her up and not the man, she wasn't sure she wanted him to see her face. If he didn't know her identity, it was going to make it easier for her to shove the whole encounter into a far side of her mind and focus on other important things. Along with June's clothes, her mask was laying on the floor next to the bed and she was surprised to see
It didn't matter if the sun crashed on the earth or if the moon decided to replace the sun during the day, Michael Stahom was never late to work until that morning. He drove into the parking lot of the huge building where he was CEO and owner, Empire, in a haste to attend the meeting he had called for and was already 45 minutes late for. Typical Michael would have put whoever came five minutes late on probation but it was his turn to be on the receiving end. It didn't matter though, no one was going to punish him anyways, He owned the place. "Good morning Mr Stahom" the receptionist smiled in greeting as he hurried into the building. "Good morning, Emma" it was hard to keep track of his employees names but Michael made sure he knew the important people. "They're all waiting for you" Bridget, Michael's assistant, called out to him as he walked into his office. The elevator ride up to the floor where his office was situated was enough to inform him on the status of the office.
"Juneee!!!" June's sister, Layla screamed as she ran to hug her as her big sister, as she appeared in the hallway where their mum's room was situated in the hospital. It had been over a week since the last time June had paid a visit to the hospital and seen her little sister. Their mum had been sick for quite awhile but June couldn't afford to just sit with them at the hospital, the bills weren't going to pay themselves. "I need to speak to Doctor Rachel first, okay?" Layla nodded and June gave her a kiss on her forehead and told her to go back to their mum. The doctor was glad to see June in good condition but her face told June there wasn't much good news to share. With Layla satisfied and her mum finally asleep after crying, June kissed them both goodbye, promised to come see them more often and left the hospital to go for her first job. The convenience store was quiet as June walked into it that morning. She straightened the front of the dress she had worn from the hot
Michael couldn't recall how many times Drake had complained about how much he was huddling himself up in the office, bent over different files and not having a social life that didn't include boring contract signings and businessmen conferences. "I have the perfect place for you to go to ease up all this tension you've been carrying on your broad shoulders" Drake told him that afternoon as he walked into the office with the remaining files from the project. Michael didn't hesitate to air out his views, "If it's a party, I'm not interested" The look on Drake's face afterwards should have warned him but Michael knew he really needed a break so he complied anyways and found himself at Emmys that night. Unlike himself, Drake was a regular at Emmys and Michael didn't understand the pleasure anyone was getting from watching half naked women dance on a pole until the redhead with the mask climbed her podium. It was like a spell was cast, he couldn't take his eyes off her as she twir
"I can't believe I missed my daughter's birthday party for this half assed show" Two men were walking out of the club, visibly upset about the whole event. Emmys was a place you went to and got instantly happy but tonight was different and June knew she was in for it. Stephen sat at his desk with one of the biggest frowns June had ever seen in her two years of working at the strip club and she knew she wasn't going to get out of this easily. "Look who decided to show up" Stephen said as soon as June walked into his office. The frown dissolved into a smile but June knew it didn't meet his eyes. "I can explain, Stephen. Something came up, I couldn't..." Stephen cut her off before she could complete whatever she had to say. "Yes, you're going to have to explain yourself June Skylar!" Stephen yelled but relaxed when he saw fear forming in June eyes. You'd think years of working at a strip club would make her somehow strong enough to deal with men that yelled at her. "I..
Michael was with Frank when he got the call from his brothers, Frank tried to calm him down and tell him that he can figure a way out but Michael wasn't ready to listen to him. Immediately Michael called his lawyer. "Mr Stahom, I have prepared the papers for the lawsuit, I will be ready when you are ready" He said "That's not the issue, I need you to draft up all the documents of the entire company in thirty minutes and then send it to me, I will sign it" Michael said "What do you mean by that Mr Stahom, what do you need the entire papers of the company for?" The lawyer asked "I don't have the time to answer your questions so please just do as I say and let me have it. I will be with you in an hour to sign them" Michael said and hung up on him. "Michael, you can still think this through, this is your company we are talking about here, something that you spent all your years trying to build Michael, you can't give it all up in an hour. calm down Michael, we can still figure somet
The girls got ready for school the next day and Michael got down the stairs, they didn't know that he was around the day before. "Daddy" Angel yelled and she got down and ran to hug him, Michael hugged her back "Darling, how are you doing?" Michael asked "I'm fine daddy, when did you come home?" Angel asked"I arrived last night baby and you were sleeping then," Michael said and she nodded. "Mr. Stahom, how was your trip?" Layla asked "It was fine Layla, I did what I wanted to do thanks for asking. I hope you girls didn't disturb June too much while I was away?" Michael asked "Not at all, I made Angel behave too," Layla said and Michael grinned. "Daddy we baked, we watched movies, had ice creams, and slept with June in your bedroom every night, I love it but I just missed you so much daddy," Angel said "I know baby and I missed you so much, that's why I came back to see you. but you have to go to school now so I will see you when you get back" Michael said and she nodded"Okay,
Michael got into his hotel room after leaving the meeting and he laid down on his bed feeling extra tired from the days work, he spent the whole day talking to so many men because of the new business. He hadn't told anyone that he was opening up another branch, he didn't even tell June yet because he wanted it to be a surprise. But when he got home, since this trip was successful and the business would soon be set up, he would bring it up and tell her all about it. He had spoken to Angel because June said she missed him and he missed her a lot too, after tonight, he planned on taking the first flight home to surprise them. He was looking forward to their reactions when he would get home. He removed his next tie and stared at the ceiling when his phone began to ring again. It was June, he thought as he stared at the screen, he smiled to himself and picked up the phone ready to tease her. "I thought you didn't miss me, then why are you calling me June?" Michael asked with a smirk "Mi
June was in the kitchen making dinner while her sister and Angel are playing in the living room. She put the food in the oven when Angel ran into the kitchen and then walked her to her with a frown. "June" She called in a silent voice and it was at that moment that June knew that the little girl was feeling down. "What's wrong Angel, aren't you playing with Layla anymore? Or are you hungry because I'm making dessert right now and dinner is almost done" June said and she nodded in refusal? "Where is daddy June, when is he going to come back?" Angel asked with a frown. June dropped the spoon she was holding and then took off the apron around her waist and hugged Angel. "Do you miss your daddy?" June asked and Angel nodded her head in agreement. "I'm sorry honey, it's been days since you saw him. Michael must also miss you, he was in a meeting when I called him earlier this morning" June said "Can I call daddy now, I want to talk to him June, I miss him?" Angel said and June smiled
Michael bent down, his lips against her cheek, brushing it lightly, and still, that light touch sent shivers through her nerves, shivers that made her whole body tremble. He brushed his mouth against the hollow of her temple and then his lips were on hers again. June stood on her toes and reached up as she pulled him down to her, He kissed her gently, carefully, but it wasn’t the gentleness she wanted, not now, not after all this time, and she knotted her fists in his shirt, pulling him harder against her body. He groaned softly, low in his throat, and then his arms circled her waist, gathering her against him, still kissing. His lips tasted like honey. They stopped to catch their breath. He smashed his lips on hers again. she tasted so sweet and he could smell her perfume from how close they were. Slowly, he lifted her from the ground and carried her to the counter so she would sit before he spread her legs open. "Wait in the kitchen?" she asked with her eyes open wide. "I don't
Michael had finally calmed down from his paranoia so the girls are allowed back to school after two weeks, He found out about a last-minute trip to New Orleans so he was going to leave with his secretary. He couldn't ask June to go with him because he knew that she had to watch the kids. "I would have asked you to go with me but I know you wouldn't agree to go with me because of the kids," Michael said as he tossed his clothes on the bed. "I asked you to fold them" June complained and then folded them for him before she placed them into his box neatly. "I have you to do it for me," He said and she rolled her eyes at him. "I know, I want to follow you too, get time to ourselves, time away from the girls but I can't leave them at the same time because of how things are now, the cops haven't caught the other men who tried to kidnap Layla or the actual person who gave the orders so we have to be careful," June said and he nodded. "I know that baby, and if it weren't for the fact that
That evening, Michael watched as June baked a cake with her sister and Angel in the kitchen. "Stop standing there, at least make yourself useful even if you can't bake Michael," June said and he frowned. "I'm fine with just watching you bake for the kids from this place June so ignore me and keep doing what you are doing," Michael said "I'm done, I just have to put the slices in a plate for the kids and then I will be with you," June said and Michael nodded. When Angel saw that June had finished baking, Layla was washing the pans in the sink while June cut the cake into big slices, Angel rushed over to where her dad was standing and then beckoned for him to bend down."You want to tell daddy something?" Michael asked and she nodded. He bent down and then she grabbed his hair "Daddy, I just want to tell you that June is a great mummy to me" Angel whispered in his ear and Michael beamed with joy. He was overwhelmed with so many emotions at that moment and was glad that Angel thinks
For the next two days, Michael refused to let the kids go into the compound to play because he was scared that anything would happen to them. They went to work with the bodyguards, some guarded the house and the kids followed two other with Shawn as the driver since he was someone Michael trusted them with. He was worried that anyone might try to kidnap someone again, it might not be Layla this time but it might be Angel or even June and he couldn't take any risks, they were all important to him and they each had the roles to play in his life.Michael didn't go to work today, he wanted to work from home because he had some calls to answer and he wanted to do it at his study, the kids were currently back from school and were eating while June was upstairs in the bedroom doing her leftover work from the office. "I can't find them, I thought I asked you to name the folder under Frank's name or didn't I?" Michael asked his secretary on call"I must have misplaced it with Mr. Collins's f
Michael's phone began to ring again and they ignored the call thinking it was the head of the IRS department that might be calling. But June couldn't focus on any other thing the way the phone was ringing so she picked up the call for Michael. "Good afternoon, Mr. Stahom isn't in a position to receive a call now, you can leave me a message to give to him or call him again in the next one hour," June said politely "I'm sorry ma'am but it's important, can you tell him that the chief of police would like to speak to him, concerning the case with the attempted kidnap from yesterday?" The man said and as June heard him mention attempted kidnap, her heart began to race and immediately she understood that it had to do with Layla. "Hello, are you still there ma'am?" The man asked disturbing her thoughts and she remembered she was on a call before. "I will tell him, please hold on," June said and then she placed the call on hold before turning to Michael."Michael" June called and he looke
