NICHOLAS POV
I arrived at my hotel room by 7 pm, nervous and tense. I planned to hurry up and prepare the table before my visitor arrived.
I immediately set to do that and I whistled softly, hoping that it would help me to calm my nerves.
The hotel room which I booked was dimly lit.
I had spent hours preparing for this moment, hoping to win Lily back.
Down the hall, there was an engagement party. I knew this because I had strolled over earlier and looked through the door. The usual "Will you marry" banner was at the other end of the large hall.
Somehow, it gave me hope that soon, I would be proposing to my woman. Well, she was no longer my woman again, because we were not together at the moment. I focused on arranging the items on the table as the sound of loud music floated over from the party hall.
It felt ridiculous that the music was a stark contrast to my tense mood.
As I placed the last glass on the table, I sprang up and started to pace around the room.
My eyes remained fixed on the door.
"Lily, please come," I whispered to myself. "We need to talk things through."
I had broken up with her months ago, after finding out that she cheated on me.
Although I was the one who got it wrong, I found it so hard to move on. I drowned myself in my job, yet I couldn't get over her. I was almost losing my mind at the moment and it was because I didn't know how to get rid of my love for her.
I threw a glance at my wrist to check my watch for the hundredth time.
It was already a few minutes after 10 pm.
She was late.
A knot tightened in my stomach and my mind raced with worst-case scenarios.
Why wasn't she here yet?
Had she changed her mind?
I looked at the private dinner table which I just set and I strolled over to the speaker and put on some soft music.
This was it!
Everything was ready and set. I had even taken some sex-enhancement drugs that would help me make the night memorable for us.
The only thing I needed was for her to show up.
However, as the minutes ticked by, I started to feel a knot in my stomach.
When I had waited for one long hour, it dawned on me that Lily was probably never going to show up.
"Damn it!" I growled, grabbed the bottle of whiskey, emptied its contents into a glass, and took a swig.
"She lied to me," I muttered. "She said she would come, but she's not here."
I pulled out my phone and checked her location. She was in the hotel premises.
Anger surged through me. She was here, but she hadn't bothered to show up at the room number I sent to her in a text.
I rang up her phone and it rang for a few seconds before ending abruptly.
I raised the glass of whiskey to my lips and poured it down my throat. This wasn't her first time of lying to me. Now, she had gone the extra mile to trick me into believing her again.
I slumped back in my chair and crossed my legs.
Why was I still trying to win her back? Why was I still holding on to the hope that she would change?
After another hour had passed, I was still drinking and she was yet to show up.
I checked her location on my phone again, my eyes narrowed as I saw she was still in the hotel premises.
That made me even angrier. I slammed my fist on the table, making the glasses shake.
In a fit of rage, I kicked the table, sending plates and glasses shattering to the floor.
I grabbed one of the wine bottles and smashed it against the wall.
I was too furious to notice that someone was knocking on the door.
The knock came again and a cold sweat broke out on my forehead.
I rushed to open it, still drunk, my vision dark. I flung open the door, and two uniformed men stood before me, flanking a beautiful woman in their arms. She was stunning, but her eyes were glassy, and she swayed unsteadily.
"We were asked to bring her to Mr. N's room," one of the men said, eying me.
I raked my hands through my hair. Who was Mr. N?
Then it hit me - my name, Nicholas, started with the letter N.
A chill ran down my spine. The woman smiled at me and fell into my arms. I grabbed her, because I saw that she was almost falling. She wrapped her arms around me.
"I've missed you." She cried out.
My confusion grew and looked at the uniformed men. They didn't seem to provide any solution, so I tried to release myself from her grip.
"Ma'am, please," I muttered with discomfort.
“Keep her for the night” One of the men said with a wink before they turned and walked away, leaving me alone with this mysterious woman.
She buried her face in my chest, sobbing uncontrollably.
"Nathan...he cheated on me," she stammered.
I frowned. Nathan? Who was Nathan? And who was this woman? Lily? But she looked different...and sounded different.
I tried to shake off the haze of alcohol, but my thoughts were too muddled. I couldn't even make sense of anything. All I knew was that this woman was crying, and I was too drunk to know what to do. She slipped out of my hands went over to the bed and sat on it.
I approached her, "Lily?" I called out.
She flashed a smile at me.
"Did you have to take so long?" I said, offering her the last bottle of alcohol, and she took it before breaking into laughter.
"I know how to make Nathan mad," she said.
I didn't wonder who Nathan was because she started to take off her red dress, and my eyed almost popped.
My breath hitched and the effects of the drugs I took earlier kicked in.
She wiggled out of her panties and strolled towards me.
My eyes fell on her stark naked body and something inside me snapped.
I stepped away from her, trying to clear my head, but she grabbed him, her hands wrapping around my arm.
"Don't go," she pleaded with a husky voice. "Let's make Nathan jealous."
I tried to shake her off, but she held on tight, her grip surprisingly strong.
I blinked, peering at her face closely in a bid to see if it was Lily.
"Who are you?" I asked.
She let out a loud, cackling laughter and pressed her bare boobs against my chest. "You'll find out."
Then, she pulled me into a kiss as her hands straddled the belt in my jeans. Her hands danced over the hardness in my chest and she raised lifted herself on a tiptoe to whisper into my ears. "I know you want me, Nathan"
I didn't know who Nathan was, but I was so damn sure that I wanted her.
I scooped her into my arms and rushed over to the bed.
Nicholas POVWhen my eyes opened the next morning, the first thing that hit me was a stinging ache at the back of my head. It felt like a hammer was pounding away, and I couldn't remember why. I swallowed hard and I tried to sit up, but a wave of dizziness washed over me. It forced me to fall back onto the pillow.Soon, my eyes adjusted to the dim light, I realized I was in an unfamiliar room. It was a room I didn't ever remember walking into. The high walls were a dull gray, and the furniture was sparse and modern. It was the floor that caught my attention. Shards of broken glasses and bottles littered the wet surface, and the acrid smell of alcohol hung low in the room."What the actual hell?" I said with a small gasp. Panic set in as I struggled to remember how I got there, yet nothing came to mind. My eyes darted as I tried to find any clue, but my mind remained completely blank. That's when I heard a light snore beside me. I turned to see a woman with black hair lying on h
SIA POV"Who the hell are you?!" I snapped at the stranger who sat, with crossed legs, watching me. He let out a mirthless laugh, the next second, his face hardened, and his lips were set in a thin line. Silence filled the room, making me uncomfortable. I picked up a pillow and flung it at him. His frown deepened and he rolled his eyes as the pillow smacked his face before falling to the floor."Are you deaf?" I yelled, as raw panic swept through me. I threw off the covers from my body and my mouth hung open. I didn't have any clothes on. That only meant one thing, but I forced myself not to think of it."No...it can't be true" I muttered under my breath. He eyed me in silence.A few moments passed and I jumped out of bed, taking the bedsheets with me as a cover. I was now unable to deal with the heat of his stare, and I edged backwards to the window behind me. I stood a good distance away from him. At least, It would give me more advantage over him if he ever wanted to lunge for
Nicholas POV“What do you mean?” Sia shot up from her bed, surprise framing her face as she stared at me disbelievingly.“Exactly what you heard,” I immediately snapped, pressing my back against the door as I stared at her. “Well, except of course you have a better option.” She didn't say anything, rather she nibbled on her lower lips, her hands crossed over her shoulders as she stared into the distance, deep in thought. I found myself staring at how her cherry pink lips suffered brutality as she dug into her teeth, ‘This is torture,’ I thought to myself as I pushed myself off the door. “We don't have all the time in the world, miss Stanton,” I said, cutting through the silence and her thoughts. “Isn't there some other option rather than this… this… this marriage,” she finally completed after a while of trying to find a word that she wouldn't choke on. “Do you really think I want to get married to you? A stranger I barely know?” I said, standing a bit away from, anger framing my
Sia POV. “What have I done?” I whispered again, not able to understand how this video crept online. Things weren't really making sense any longer to me. “D-did you bug this room with cameras?” I choked out, unable to think clearly. He gave me the look that said, ‘What sorta question is that?’, but at that point, I was finding it hard to know what to do or say. “Answer me! Did you bug the room with secret cameras?” I fired again, glaring furiously at him when he wouldn't say anything. “Where did you put it?” “What are you going on about? Why would I want to bug my room?” He reiterated back and dammit if his answer didn't sound plausible enough but I was beyond reasoning. “I don't know. It could've been for any reason. Maybe because… or…” I trailed off not knowing what to say. “Go on, why don't you tell me? Did your list get exhausted even before you started?” he teased, his face still contorted in anger. I don't know where I got the courage from but I hated the way he had th
SIA POV“Brace yourself princess,” Greg said, winking at me through the mirror. “We're here.”A few seconds later, the car pulled over in front of a huge property with high walls and a massive gate which had iron spikes and a heavy looking lock. The top of the wall was sharp barbed wire that seemed to glint.“Where are we?” I asked, feeling a shiver run down my back as I stared at the building.“This is my private mansion,” Nicholas replied, beating Greg to it. “You'll be safe here for now. I'll take you home later… when the heat dies.”“I'm sorry I missed something, what am I staying safe from exactly?” I asked, eyeing him and Greg suspiciously. Nicholas didn't reply to me, rather he alighted from the car and turned around to open the door closest to me. “Get down,” he ordered, taking a step back to give me space to step out. Staring at his rock hard gaze that was quite intimidating. I hesitated for a moment, before stepping out of the car.It was only then that I got a better view
"You can't run from me, Sia!" I yelled at the top of my voice as the two women stormed out, the door slamming behind them with a loud thud. Did Sia hear what I said?Well, I couldn't care less. One thing was sure—I was going to find her later that evening. I had already planted people in strategic locations to keep an eye on her and make sure she didn't something as funny as running away. Also, I needed to find out who had placed those secret cameras at the hotel room, and why they did that. A fleeting thought flashed my mind and I grimaced. What if Sia wasn't who I thought she was? What if she was working with some rival of mine to pull me down? As innocent as she looked, I was sure that there was something more to her. I heard light footsteps behind me and swing around to the direction. One of my staff; Mama Carlotta. She was an aged woman who had once been my nanny at childhood, stood in the doorway, her hands clasped in front of her. Her face was pale, as though she had seen
NICHOLAS POVWhat the hell? I cursed underneath my breath. For a second or two, anger seethed through me, and then, it gave way to irritation.Greg was still looking at me, smiling. " Do you like Sia?" He repeated. I cocked an eyebrow, “Your superpower is to be the most annoying dumbass in my life. How do you even sit in one place and formulate things in your head?” Greg didn't budge, instead he continued, “Come on, Nicholas, admit it. You like her.”“No, I don't." I cut in, "As a matter of fact, Sia is the last woman I would ever like. Period!” I ended, a scowl on my face. “I need you to remind me again. Why are you so worked up about her safety?”" Her safety?" I repeated his words. He threw his hands in the air, "Is it obvious enough?""I'm telling you, Greg, I don't like her," I grunted, placing emphasis on my last words. “Save it, Nicholas. You're worried about her, and before you bring up the topic of your reputation, it's not just about your reputation. You're invested in
SIA POV“That's enough, Elise. Please let go of my wrist now,” I said, pulling my hands away from Elise's grip as I took two steps backward, massaging my wrist. “Sia, what exactly is your problem?” Elise suddenly asked, taking a step forward as she glared at me. My face lit up in surprise because of all the questions, I didn't think she'd settle for that when she knew exactly what my problem was. “You know exactly what my problem is,” I fired back at her. “Do you really have to squeeze my wrist so tightly?”“You're more concerned about your wrist?” Elise asked, wide eyed. “I can't believe this.”“Of course, I am concerned about my wrist,” I exclaimed, still rubbing the sore skin.Elise stared at me quietly for some time, then she scoffed, “How do you always find yourself in unfortunate situations?”I slowly tilted my head slightly, to meet her gaze. "Unfortunate situations?"Elise's eyes locked onto mine, worry hidden in the depths. "Nicholas Winthrop, the billionaire. He has a gir
