54. Good News

Jared looked at Caroline, who was lying weakly on the hospital bed. He looked at her intently. The face was bruised and swollen. He couldn't imagine what kind of abuse Caroline had received. There were many wires connected to Caroline's body. Her body temperature had improved somewhat due to the help from the doctor, coupled with the warmth of the blanket covering her entire body.

Caroline had experienced hypothermia because she was outside in such cold temperatures while she was not wearing any clothes. Luckily, Jared immediately took her to the hospital. Doctors also identified a large dose of drugs in Caroline's blood. Caroline was in a coma not only because of the violence but also because of an overdose.
