"Madam, Madam Delia would like to see you." One of the maids informed her while Caroline was relaxing with a book in her room.

Caroline frowned when she heard Delia's name mentioned. She didn't know why Jake's mother suddenly came to see her. They didn't have an appointment, nor was their relationship that good.

"She must have wanted to threaten me to cancel my intention to marry Uncle Jared." Caroline muttered. She seemed to be thinking hard now. She must not show her weakness lest she be oppressed by those who are stronger. It was enough that she had been submissive and weak.

"I'll see her right away; ask her to wait." Caroline gave the order.

"Yes, ma'am."
