34. I Don't Need Your Money

Bonnie stared questioningly as she heard the long sigh coming from her daughter. She looked at Caroline very seriously, knowing that something was troubling her.

"What's going on?" Bonnie asked with concern.

Caroline let out a long sigh. She looked deeply at her mother. "I got fired." Her voice sounded weak when she said that.

"Fired?" Bonnie repeated the word. She looked panicked, as Caroline was now her only source of income.

"Yes, Uncle Jared got mad at me and decided to fire me."

"How so? Who paid all our debts then?"

"Uncle Jared did. He said I no longer needed the money because all the debts had been paid off. So, I don't need to work in his office anymore."

"What did you do to make Jared angry with you? Did you turn down his marriage proposal?" Bonnie asked for confirmation.

Caroline didn't answer. She bites the tips of her nails when she feels agitated like that. She was carrying a heavy burden right now. She owed Jared so much that she didn't know what to do with it. She hurr
