[Diana’s POV]

‘Even when I am not around you, I’ll always… always… always… be with you.’

Zephyr’s words reverberated in my head as Kiera dashed past the moss-covered trees, rocky terrains, down a rocky slope.

Were those words supposed to reassure me? What did they even mean?

Did he mean to say that even when he wasn’t physically around me, he would be with me in my memories, in my longings, in my tears and my love?

Because if he meant that, I didn’t know what I’d do. I had already done all of that for Mask and no way in the hell was I going to repeat it with him. But it hurt. Hurt in every part of my body.

Those words poured into my chest like boiling darkness. A clenching wrath.

I had never had second thoughts about Zephyr. I saw, heard, and felt his love deeper than the blood flowing in my veins.

But right now, I wasn’t sure what to feel anymore. I was numb, and it hurt, hurt so fucking bad I couldn’t breathe.

‘Calm down, Diana. Please. Zephyr isn’t Mask. Maybe he didn’t mean his

[Zephyr’s POV]I lost my consciousness to ‘I want to be the mother of your children’ reverberating in every inch of my body and gained my consciousness to Diana’s voice, but the words were for someone else, something else.“If the rainforest is going to flood, you should come with us, Arran. Please,” Diana was dressed in her wet clothes. No need to dry anything. Everyone was wet anyway.Arran impassively peered at Diana through the rain slithering down his face.“Mind your own business,” Arran said.“We need to leave. The water level is rising. The bank near the river is already underwater,” Reese said, and I noticed we were on the highest slope near the bank of the river. Our campsite was deep under the violent water hurling in the heavy downpour. “We already have a liability.” Reese looked down at me.I was lying on the ground, surrounded by the others.“Look, the liability is awake…” Reese said obnoxiously.“Zeph!” Diana squatted near me. “Zeph! Are you ok?” She looked at my wound a

[Diana’s POV] Two weeks had passed in the real world since we entered the dreamcatcher. The first to escape through the dreamcatcher was Janus, who exited in a week. Followed by Miya, Zared and Darren, who exited the dreamcatcher two days ago. Followed by our group. The rest were still inside the dreamcatcher. Carol hadn’t stopped whimpering from the moment we exited the dreamcatcher. I stroked it, sitting on the chair in the hospital’s corridor. According to Archer, ever since we left for the race, Carol had been waiting for us to get out of the dreamcatcher in the library. Vera, Miya and Zared tried to feed it, but it refused to eat. I tried to feed it some flower flames, but it flew to the window of this corridor after Zephyr. Carol had learnt to fly already and the heart feather Miya talked about had budded over its chest. In a few days, we’d know its gender. “Princess. You should go back and freshen up. I am here with Zephyr,” Archer said. I shook my head. It was all my

[Diana’s POV]How do I always end up walking right into his trap?Trap? Coincidence? Plan? Fate?I knew no more.I just wished when I leave this room I do not find him in the empty hallways. The guards, too, were positioned only at the farthest ends of the hallway in order to make the area around Celadine’s room peaceful.I sat on a chair beside Celadine, not knowing what to say. What could I say to a person who was dying? What could I say to her when I left her brother dying in the rainforest?More than anything, I had accumulated regrets in the dreamcatcher race.Celadine was unable to talk. Mind-link was the only way she could communicate with her close ones. She wasn’t even strong enough to create a new mind-link with me.Luna Nesta was called by Celadine’s doctors. So it was her, me, and her personal maid in the room.Celadine glanced at her maid. Her maid fetched out a palm-sized brown leather diary and gave it to me. Placing Carol on my lap, I accepted the diary and looked at C

[Diana’s POV]A train of thoughts crossed my mind.If I attack him first and make a run, maybe I can reach somewhere safe. What if the rogues are hiding in the shadows of the forest surrounding this place?I looked around to find the clearest and nearest exit from that place. “That look on your face. The way you are poised to attack. The way your heart’s beating. Is it because I brought you to an isolated place or is it because I brought you to ‘this’ place?”“You remember?” I asked, not allowing my words to tremble.“This place reminds me… that I am forgetting something. Something as important as the turning point in my life. Something related to you. I feel the presence of memories everywhere in this place, but I can’t see them. But right now, I can see them in your eyes and I want you to tell me… what happened in this place, Diana?” His voice was low and hoarse, as if he didn’t want the trees nearby to listen to our conversation.“How dare you forget…” I mumbled.“What?”“How dare

[Zephyr’s POV] (Four days later.) “This has gone too far. You will have to make a choice now. What do you want? You can either have your revenge and the throne or Diana. At this point, you can’t have both, Zeph. Remind you… thousands of lives depend on the decision you make. Including mine and uncle’s.” Janus said. I peered blankly at the blank ceiling. “Will you fucking say something? Man! This is frustrating. Four days and I haven’t heard a word from your mouth.” “Let him take his time. It’s his call,” Archer said, leaning against the wall with his hands crossed. Although I didn’t look, I could feel Vera’s gaze on me. If it wasn’t for Vera’s healer's powers, I would have taken weeks to regain my consciousness. For the last four nights, they have gathered around me, talked about me, they spoke as if they understood me, but they didn’t. I always knew Diana, and I weren’t meant to be. I was only trying to drag the time with her as long as I couldn’t drag it anymore. I fucked up

[Diana’s POV]The loud cathedral bells rang right before I sneaked back into the room. Its solacing melody reached far and wide within and outside the Pretis palace. Those bells rang only when a royal died. My heart picked up an anxious beat.I knew, deep down, in the churns of my stomach for whom those bells were ringing.Celadine was gone.We weren’t friends. She wasn’t even someone close to me. Yet, I don’t know why I felt like my heart mourned in my chest. I connected to her much faster than I had connected to anyone else. Death connected us and now it was tearing me apart.Carol jumped on the railing of the balcony of my room that I had jumped on. I and Carol looked towards the hospital.“She is in a better place, right?” Carol tilted its head and chirped in affirmation, flapping its wings. “You went to meet Zephyr, right? [Zephyr’s POV] The moment I had planned and worked for years was finally here, but… “Please put down the vial!” “OUT!” Arran snapped at her. Shoving her away from himself, he filled the same poison he used to kill Archer in an injection. I watched the moment satisfactorily with Aera, creating an invisibility barrier around us. We were in Arran’s alchemy chamber with a powerful scent of chemicals, herbs and steam occupying the chamber. Half of the chamber was filled with books of herbs, alchemy and medicines, while an enormous desk occupied the rest half. Glass flasks containing various liquids in bright vivid colors were connected with glass pipes, with fumes rising from a few of them. While Arran had scattered the test tubes and the set up slightly when he was searching the drawers under the desk for the vial of poison. I had imagined this moment exactly as it was playing out. But I never imagined Diana in it. Diana wasn’t supposed to be here. Just when Arran was about to pier

[Zephyr’s POV] Diana and Kaz regained their consciousness as the three of us returned to the sky, our battlefield. Kaz looked at Diana and then at me. The mana I had gathered around me was massive enough to cause an explosion that would end half of the world. I knew I had to stop, but I didn’t know how to stop it. Diana was already weak and upon that I was absorbing mana right from her soul. I need to get her away from me… Kaz flew beside Diana. Grabbing her arm, he tore her away from my proximity. Breaking the gravity of my soul that pulled mana from his soul, he pushed Diana towards the ground. “Zephyr…” Diana’s scream faltered as she neared the ground. I whistled sharply. The winds, combined with Kaz’s threads of mana, surrounded her and helped her land safely on the ground. Kaz turned to me. “It’s you against me now. Kill me and end this last war,” he said. “If I do that, who will save this world?” I said. Kaz frowned. “What do you mean?” “With the amount of mana

No. This isn’t possible.Archer and Willa teleported me to the graveyard where Janus and lady Ilana had dug out a coffin.Carol shrieked agonizingly over the coffin.“No. No…” Stumbling, I fell beside the coffin.Janus dug his claws into the coffin and broke open the lid.“Zeph!”“Zephyr!”“Son!”Archer and Janus got Zephyr out of the coffin and laid him on the ground. His pulse and breaths were weak. He was unconscious.I covered my mouth with my hands. Kazeal had buried him alive.“Zeph! Zephyr!” Janus shook his body. “Hey man! Get up!”“Zephyr! Son!” Lady Ilana tapped his cheek.Archer made his way beside Zephyr. He asked us to move away from Zephyr to allow air circulation around him.“Ila, check his pulses and tell me if they turn weak,” Archer said and lady Ilana scuttled beside Zephyr, keeping her fingers on his pulses.“Messiah!” Kazeal roared.Janus stood in front of me and Willa, glaring right into Kazeal’s eyes.

[Diana’s POV](Trigger warning: Reader’s discretion advised.)***Ever since I returned to the Pretis palace, I knew something was off.But it took me a while to realize that something was wrong with Zephyr. I felt it odd when I told him I wanted to rest and he just let me rest.Whenever I say I wanted to rest, we usually end up having sex, but this Zephyr was trying to avoid intimacy with me. Yes, he hugged me, but that was it. He even avoided kisses. I will not lie. I was scared for some time that maybe everything that was going around me was affecting our relationship. The thought that Zephyr might actually be falling out of love with me haunted me until Janus asked me the same thing.Janus told me how Zephyr was not Zephyr, even though he almost completely acted like Zephyr. That’s when I sensed it and I wished we were wrong, so I checked it for myself yesterday.Kazeal might have prepared himself to be like Zephyr in every aspect, but I knew he wouldn’t ever be able to prepare

I hope you see for yourself what you have done to this world. It’s still not too late. You still have time. Stop before things slip from my hands as well.I stroked her back as she drifted back into sleep. Another round of those nightmares that I had designed to break her slowly, but certainly.I sighed, peering at the ceiling, hugging her tighter as she panted with a slight tremble taking over her body again.“No… no…” she mumbled.I intertwined my fingers with hers.“It’s alright, Dia. Everything’s fine, just fall asleep.”Stay dreaming and leave the reality to me. I will bring everything you have misplaced in this world back to its place.*****“You don’t have to attend to meeting if you aren’t feeling well—” She had the power to make me speechless without even trying.Words seized from my

[Diana’s POV]It hadn’t even been a week to father’s burial, and Willa was gone. She hadn’t taken a single thing from the palace. All she left behind was a note saying that she no longer had a reason to stay in the Xenon pack.Often the walls that look the strongest are the hollowest. Reese was in the same condition. Most of the time, Reese stayed by father’s grave.“It’s dinnertime, Reese. Let’s go.” I placed my hand on his shoulder. He was lost in nothingness. Recently, silence had been his only response.I knelt beside him.He had completed father’s burial without shedding a tear. But that didn’t mean father’s death hadn’t affected him at all. And after Willa left, his condition had worsened. He was bottling himself up.Although he kept himself busy with the pack affairs and the war with Gloratia, it was at times like these I could see his pain in his eyes.Meanwhile, because of Serith’s powers, I knew father was in a better place, reunited with mother. Even so, I felt his absence

[Zephyr’s POV]What we have been preparing for has finally begun.Diana had waged a war against the outer world. By now, the demonic werewolves would have started appearing all around Lycannora. After demonisation she had changed a lot. Diana’s appearance seemed as a reflection of Serith herself. Her horns, the dark vine tattoos that wrapped around her hands and around her neck. Her blood-red eyes that had the power to stop time if she wished. Her aura that held the gravity that could alter dimensions and space. Diana’s presence overpowered almost everyone and everything on the battlefield. The goddess of the underworld had surfaced and the Serithian war had begun. It hadn’t even been an hour and the Wenos army seemed so subdued. There was no way mortals could keep up with a goddess’ incarnation. The only person who had the power to stand against Diana was the Saint.Devon walked closer to Diana and stood between her and his army.“Prince, what are you doing?” Ragnar asked Devon.“R

My crazily pulsating heart was only darkening my thoughts and coherence.Clenching my fists and jaws, I shut my eyes. It’s not like I have never been angry before, but I had never experienced such an excruciating wrath before. Its extremeness was sinful.I stared at my palms. How did she slip out of my grip? The warmth of her body and the softness of her skin are still afresh in my hands. When did she obscure my senses? How in heaven did she escape?I don’t get it. I don’t understand this.Wiping my sweat around my lips, I sat on her bed. Raking back my hair, I held my burning head.Taking a deep breath, I licked my dry lips. There is no way she can escape this place on her own. Not even with her Messiah powers. The only key is with me and without my mana, the barriers around the tower cannot even be sensed by normal wizards. But

[Zephyr’s POV]I kept whistling in the eolian language, summoning a storm around Alpha Urza’s body as a barrier from the rest of the battlefield. Kneeling beside his body, I peered at him blankly. I held his cold hand in mine. With a blurry vision, I looked at the sky. Kaz’s men hovered over the Wenos palace. Through the blustering winds cutting me off from the rest of the world, I looked at my army that was in constant struggle with the Saint’s men. I couldn’t keep track of everyone from where I was, but I could tell that Archer and mother had left the battlefield a while ago. “We, the wizards under the Saint’s command, give you the Jupitus army a chance to retreat. Stop the attacks and retreat or else we will have to pacify you by any means possible.” A wizard hovering right above Asashi and Aera warned. So finally, Kazeal has openly involved himself in this war. “We do not wish any harm to the innocent. We are here to preserve peace and stop the war. If any of you launch any
