[Diana’s POV]

Kazeal stopped playing. Parting the flute from his lips, he opened his eyes and looked at me.

“Happy birthday, Messiah,” he said, freezing me under the scrutiny of his silver eyes.

But those eyes didn’t scare me anymore.

“This was the emptiest birthday wish I have received today. Such words don’t suit the mouth of the person who would have prayed more than me that I was never born. You would be the last person to be ‘happy’ on my birthday.”

“Can’t deny that,” Kazeal said plainly.

“How the hell did you even enter my pack?” I glared at him.

He glanced over my shoulder.

I looked back just to see Willa coming our way. There it was. The answer to my question. She helped him get in, which means father might not be aware of his presence in the pack.

“Honey… I brought the Saint here…”

“I should have known,” I chuckled sardonically at her. “I am sure father isn’t aware of all this, right?”

“Honeybee, it’s not what you…”

“For God’s sake, just shut up! You are still the same old yo

[Diana’s POV]“I have heard there’s a private party at the Pretis palace after the coronation.”A few ladies gossiped. The coronation took place in a baroque styled abbey in the central town of Jupitus pack. The abbey was opened for the public with a lot of security all around Zephyr. He sat on the ornately designed traditional Jupita throne on the dais.I couldn’t believe it was the same boy who was washed on the shore of my pack, covered in dirt and filth, wearing torn clothes. Zephyr was adorned in the most expensive clothes and crown, sitting as the alpha of the strongest pack far away from the reach of glances of common people.Everyone was talking about him everywhere I went. I was somewhere far away from him in the crowd with Archer and Kazeal. The elders and nobles met him one by one. He barely exchanged a few words with them while keeping a stoic face. There was a time when I couldn’t even imagine Zephyr without a smile, but this was also a part of him. Fake? Real? I don’t

[Zephyr’s POV] “Look who is here,” Aera said. “You said you weren’t interested in this party. What brings you here now? As happy as I am to see you here, it’s not safe for you to be here.” “Hey, come on! We can protect our alpha, that’s what gammas are for. It’s a good thing he is finally trying to enjoy life a little and not just cooped up in his work and bedroom, you know,” Asashi said. “We have got all the deadly varieties in the party tonight.” “I am not here for them. They are your business. Don’t get so distracted that you lose sight of what’s important.” I said. “Yes, alpha. We will. But how do you know your father will send assassins disguised as courtesans?” Aera asked. “Because he is a hungry dog right now. He will catch every bait I throw at him. Monitor the courtesans who have come from east and west closely,” I said. “East is the Wenos pack and West is the Saturna pack. You doubt Saturna packs as well? Even though we have an ally there?” Asashi asked. “Allies are mo

[Zephyr’s POV]Aera and Asashi looked at me, and I shook my head once.‘Tell the security to monitor the courtesans. They will use this distraction to execute their plans.’ I mindlinked with them. “Don’t get distracted.”‘And what will you do?’ Asashi spoke through mindlink.‘I? I will get a little distracted tonight.’I peered at Diana as she strutted on the table with slow, calculated and flashy strides. It seemed as if our gazes were fighting a war of their own.Something in her gaze held complaints, a lot of complaints from me. Those eyes weren’t of someone who had come with to deceive me or ruin me. They were the eyes of someone who had come to dominate and claim what was theirs. While I… I was burning. Burning with the urge to blind every eye that fell on her.The music paced up with the cheers and whistles from men flocking around the table, looking at Diana with hawk eyes.Diana’s every dance move flaunted her every curve. Her breasts, her ass, her legs, her waist — her eyes.

[Diana’s POV] “Were there any witnesses to your marriage?” An elder asked. I stood on the same landing of the courtroom once again from where I had witnessed the massacre. The only difference was Zephyr wasn’t standing behind me. He was sitting on the alpha’s throne right before my eyes as I gave the proof of our marriage to the court. “Yes, my father. Alpha Urza,” I said. “He couldn’t be here himself. This is the letter from him.” I gave it to the soldier who took the letter to the panel of elders. “Did Alpha Urza see Alpha Zephyr sign the marriage contract?” Janus asked, and I looked at him. I didn’t even feel betrayed now. I knew Janus was speaking, but they were all Zephyr’s words. He didn’t want me there. “No,” I said, trying to keep a poker face. “Then how can the court attest that these are Alpha Zephyr’s signature?” Janus asked. I seriously couldn’t believe Janus, my best friend, was doing this to me. If anything, he was one of the witnesses of our marriage as well, but

[Zephyr’s POV]It happened so fast I didn’t even blink, and Diana had the situation under her control.I thought she was shot, but I had forgotten for a moment that Diana was now a messiah and her demonic powers were second only to God.This was the second time I had seen her use her powers, but I could feel the gravity of her darkness that could even stop the wheels of time. The bullet shot at Diana was levitating several inches away from her stretched out palm. While the bullets Diana had shot at the assassin had fatally injured the assassin. The assassin’s invisibility flickered as she crashed on the ground from the ceiling. Dead.Dense black flames erupted from Diana’s palm, turning the bullet into dust in no time.I looked at Janus and Vera, who looked agape from what they were witnessing. If this was the starting power of her demonisation, I can’t even imagine the strength Diana will possess when the process ends.Diana lowered her hand and stood impassively, peering at the ass

[Zephyr’s POV] I turned to see Vera tense up her body and Janus looking at her with a strained expression. I walked near Vera and picked up the file before her. ‘So, it was you?’ I glared at her. ‘I am sorry, alpha. She casually asked about your schedule. I never thought she’d actually come here.’ I exhaled, putting the file back on the shelf. She hadn’t even established herself as the luna yet and she was already turning my people against me. Vera had been guilty about hiding the truth from Diana, and I am sure Diana used her guilt to get the private information out of her. I made Vera her lady-in-waiting because Vera was strong and could protect Diana. Above all, I thought Diana would be comfortable around her since they have been together for years, but maybe I shouldn’t have done that. ‘She is here to stop me. Nothing she says or does is for emotional reasons and even if it is, you are not allowed to give my schedule or personal details like these to her. Do you understand

  • Faking the Mate Bond   119. You are on my side

[Diana’s POV]When I asked Vera for a way to enter and leave the palace, she said that Zephyr had already designed the barriers in such a way that I could enter and exit them without needing the key spells or his permission.Perhaps that amenity was only available to me because even Vera and Janus needed Zephyr’s permission to leave the palace. It was strange because the barriers were put up months ago. Could it be that Zephyr expected that I’d come to the Pretis palace?I don’t know why he allowed me the luxury of not making the palace a cage for me, but I could use that.Like I wished, Zephyr and I were staying in one room. We slept in the same bed, but it seemed like I was invisible to him. After our conversation in his study, I didn’t know what to feel, so I avoided starting a conversation with him as well. A part of me wanted to trust him while the other stopped me from doing so.And no matter how much I tried to stop him, he kept on speeding the preparations for the war. I told

  • Faking the Mate Bond   120. Thorny vines of fate

[Diana’s POV] Archer became invisible the moment we teleported to the Wenos pack. He was probably around us. I walked onto the Juliet balcony attached to the room. The rock garden’s still the same. Devon liked collecting rocks and crystals. So the plants in his garden were also the ones that grew only on rocky terrains. This garden had rocks and crystals found all over the world. We often strolled in this garden in the evening. He often showed me how the rocks and crystals changed their colors in various phases of the day. He used to say that when something as solid as rock changes in various phases of a day, how could we remain the same in the various phases of our lives? He found his inspiration to live from rocks which were most probably the most lifeless things. I often wondered in the past if that was the reason Devon had a stony face all the time. I smiled faintly at the nostalgia liberating in my chest. But even the most lifeless rocks could come alive when they were put

  • Faking the Mate Bond   141. Under the starry night

[Zephyr’s POV] Diana and Kaz regained their consciousness as the three of us returned to the sky, our battlefield. Kaz looked at Diana and then at me. The mana I had gathered around me was massive enough to cause an explosion that would end half of the world. I knew I had to stop, but I didn’t know how to stop it. Diana was already weak and upon that I was absorbing mana right from her soul. I need to get her away from me… Kaz flew beside Diana. Grabbing her arm, he tore her away from my proximity. Breaking the gravity of my soul that pulled mana from his soul, he pushed Diana towards the ground. “Zephyr…” Diana’s scream faltered as she neared the ground. I whistled sharply. The winds, combined with Kaz’s threads of mana, surrounded her and helped her land safely on the ground. Kaz turned to me. “It’s you against me now. Kill me and end this last war,” he said. “If I do that, who will save this world?” I said. Kaz frowned. “What do you mean?” “With the amount of mana

[Diana’s POV]Grave?I felt my body go limp.I shook my head. No. This isn’t possible.Archer and Willa teleported me to the graveyard where Janus and lady Ilana had dug out a coffin.Carol shrieked agonizingly over the coffin.“No. No…” Stumbling, I fell beside the coffin.Janus dug his claws into the coffin and broke open the lid.“Zeph!”“Zephyr!”“Son!”Archer and Janus got Zephyr out of the coffin and laid him on the ground. His pulse and breaths were weak. He was unconscious.I covered my mouth with my hands. Kazeal had buried him alive.“Zeph! Zephyr!” Janus shook his body. “Hey man! Get up!”“Zephyr! Son!” Lady Ilana tapped his cheek.Archer made his way beside Zephyr. He asked us to move away from Zephyr to allow air circulation around him.“Ila, check his pulses and tell me if they turn weak,” Archer said and lady Ilana scuttled beside Zephyr, keeping her fingers on his pulses.“Messiah!” Kazeal roared.Janus stood in front of me and Willa, glaring right into Kazeal’s eyes.

[Diana’s POV](Trigger warning: Reader’s discretion advised.)***Ever since I returned to the Pretis palace, I knew something was off.But it took me a while to realize that something was wrong with Zephyr. I felt it odd when I told him I wanted to rest and he just let me rest.Whenever I say I wanted to rest, we usually end up having sex, but this Zephyr was trying to avoid intimacy with me. Yes, he hugged me, but that was it. He even avoided kisses. I will not lie. I was scared for some time that maybe everything that was going around me was affecting our relationship. The thought that Zephyr might actually be falling out of love with me haunted me until Janus asked me the same thing.Janus told me how Zephyr was not Zephyr, even though he almost completely acted like Zephyr. That’s when I sensed it and I wished we were wrong, so I checked it for myself yesterday.Kazeal might have prepared himself to be like Zephyr in every aspect, but I knew he wouldn’t ever be able to prepare

I hope you see for yourself what you have done to this world. It’s still not too late. You still have time. Stop before things slip from my hands as well.I stroked her back as she drifted back into sleep. Another round of those nightmares that I had designed to break her slowly, but certainly.I sighed, peering at the ceiling, hugging her tighter as she panted with a slight tremble taking over her body again.“No… no…” she mumbled.I intertwined my fingers with hers.“It’s alright, Dia. Everything’s fine, just fall asleep.”Stay dreaming and leave the reality to me. [Diana’s POV]It hadn’t even been a week to father’s burial, and Willa was gone. She hadn’t taken a single thing from the palace. All she left behind was a note saying that she no longer had a reason to stay in the Xenon pack.Often the walls that look the strongest are the hollowest. Reese was in the same condition. Most of the time, Reese stayed by father’s grave.“It’s dinnertime, Reese. Let’s go.” I placed my hand on his shoulder. He was lost in nothingness. Recently, silence had been his only response.I knelt beside him.He had completed father’s burial without shedding a tear. But that didn’t mean father’s death hadn’t affected him at all. And after Willa left, his condition had worsened. He was bottling himself up.Although he kept himself busy with the pack affairs and the war with Gloratia, it was at times like these I could see his pain in his eyes.Meanwhile, because of Serith’s powers, I knew father was in a better place, reunited with mother. Even so, I felt his absence

[Zephyr’s POV]What we have been preparing for has finally begun.Diana had waged a war against the outer world. By now, the demonic werewolves would have started appearing all around Lycannora. After demonisation she had changed a lot. Diana’s appearance seemed as a reflection of Serith herself. Her horns, the dark vine tattoos that wrapped around her hands and around her neck. Her blood-red eyes that had the power to stop time if she wished. Her aura that held the gravity that could alter dimensions and space. Diana’s presence overpowered almost everyone and everything on the battlefield. The goddess of the underworld had surfaced and the Serithian war had begun. It hadn’t even been an hour and the Wenos army seemed so subdued. There was no way mortals could keep up with a goddess’ incarnation. The only person who had the power to stand against Diana was the Saint.Devon walked closer to Diana and stood between her and his army.“Prince, what are you doing?” Ragnar asked Devon.“R

Its extremeness was sinful.I stared at my palms. How did she slip out of my grip? The warmth of her body and the softness of her skin are still afresh in my hands. When did she obscure my senses? How in heaven did she escape?I don’t get it. I don’t understand this.Wiping my sweat around my lips, I sat on her bed. Raking back my hair, I held my burning head.Taking a deep breath, I licked my dry lips. There is no way she can escape this place on her own. Not even with her Messiah powers. [Zephyr’s POV]I kept whistling in the eolian language, summoning a storm around Alpha Urza’s body as a barrier from the rest of the battlefield. Kneeling beside his body, I peered at him blankly. I held his cold hand in mine. With a blurry vision, I looked at the sky. Kaz’s men hovered over the Wenos palace. Through the blustering winds cutting me off from the rest of the world, I looked at my army that was in constant struggle with the Saint’s men. I couldn’t keep track of everyone from where I was, but I could tell that Archer and mother had left the battlefield a while ago. “We, the wizards under the Saint’s command, give you the Jupitus army a chance to retreat. Stop the attacks and retreat or else we will have to pacify you by any means possible.” A wizard hovering right above Asashi and Aera warned. So finally, Kazeal has openly involved himself in this war. “We do not wish any harm to the innocent. We are here to preserve peace and stop the war. If any of you launch any
