EVA'S POV
I had no idea what to make out of Aura’s behavior. Everything was getting a bit too much to bear.
I sat beside the window, awaiting her arrival. I wanted to feel the rage, the hatred so that it would fuel me. But, in reality, I felt drained of all my strength.
Sometimes, I wished that I would close my eyes and never wake up again. But, whenever I closed my eyes, all I could
ALEX’S POVI whizzed through the Golden Land, seeking the person who had written the note to me. Unfortunately, Golden Shifters were not accustomed to writing much. I had to sneak into their rooms to check their writing. I even got almost caught a couple of times. All of this delayed my work, and I was unable to find the writer of the note. In the end, I gave up and sat down near the
ALEX’S POVThe moment I opened the door to my bedroom, I was pulled inside by Victoria. She dragged me near the bed, saying, “Where have you been, Alex?” I was waiting for you for a long time.My eyebrows furrowed in confusion as I tried to recall when I had promised to meet her. Victoria placed a long cloak on one of my shoulders, distracting me from my thoughts.
THIRD PERSON’S POV“Ah! My daughter, you look like an angel that has descended from heaven. No even better…” Victoria’s father said, looking at her from head to toe. Victoria was dressed in a long, flowing, white gown. It was encrusted with millions of diamonds that sparkled in the light. The low V-neck showed off her cleavage, and the dress hugged her hips an
ALEX’S POV“F***!” I muttered as I tried to get up. My head throbbed as if someone was hitting my head with thousands of hammers. I couldn’t recall when I had a headache before this. It was so long ago. From the time I started living in the Golden Land, I never had any physical issues. That is when I remembered that I fainted last night.
ALEX’S POVI whizzed through every house, scrutinized every person I could lay my eyes on, eavesdropped on conversations. I scouted the forests, hills, valleys, markets, colleges, but there was no sign or mention of Eva. I glided to The Amor Lake in the hope of finding her, but she was here either. I felt an intense urge to run over our names engraved on the swing.
ALEX'S POVYou are allowed to make mistakes in your life except for the one that destroys your life. The consequences of some mistakes are so grave that even you can’t repent for them even if you keep trying your whole life. So, does that mean we should give up hope and stop trying altogether? No, if we do that, we will be lost in a tunnel of darkness. We should keep trying to rectify the damage as far as possible.
ALEX'S POV“Father,” I whispered, turning around. “Yes, you do remember you have a father, right. You have been missing for two days. I send my messengers to look for you everywhere, but they couldn’t find you. In the end, I had to come looking for you myself.”“Father….I….”Alex started saying something, but his father interrupted him midway.
ALEX'S POVI stood outside Dixonville, the place from where our friends had thrown us out. I expected it to be empty since things had gone back to normal. The door was locked from the inside. So, I knocked at the door. Susie opened the door. I almost expected her to slam it shut on my face, but she ushered us in. “What happened to Eva?”“We were in
ALEX’S POV“Ahhh!!! No!! Please… Alex… ambulance…” Eva’s piercing cry woke me at the dead of the night. She was doubled over with pain."Are you alright?" I asked caressing her head."Do I look alright? Call the damned ambulance." She screamed grasping her abdomen.“F***!” I said jumping off my bed and picked up the phone. Tring…tring…tring…
EVA’S POV“Where are we going, Alex?” I asked trying to peek at the destination shown on the Google map. “Don’t cheat, Eva. Don’t ruin my surprise…” Alex said steering the car. “Alright… alright… You can at least tell me if I will like this place…” I said shrugging my shoulders.“I don’t know, Eva. It isn’t exactly the kind of place you like.”“Then, why are we going there?
ALEX’S POVI had to leave the room. I was scared I would hurt Eva if I stayed there any longer. My blood boiled when I heard Eva talking about drinking the potion. I had died a thousand deaths every day watching her life ebb slowly. Here she was, ready to risk her life in the blink of an eye. I continued walking aimlessly through the palace, then the garden, just trying to let out some steam. Suddenly my feet came to a halt. What if Eva tried to drink the potion while I was not with her.
EVA'S POV“Alex… what if I die before giving birth to our daughter? Worse… if I die after her birth…” My lips trembled as I voiced out my concern. He ran his hand over my head and said, “Don’t think like that Eva, I promise, I will not let anything happen to you…”I pursed my lips and nodded my head. I didn’t want to worry Alex anymore but I couldn’t get the words of the spirit out of my head, ‘You will die a slow painful death!’“Remember the words of the spirit, Eva. She has ble
EVA'S POVThe moment I opened my eyes, I had to shield them with my hands. I winced and said, “Ah… please draw the curtains. This light is unbearable.”Once the intensity oflight decreased I was able to open my eyes again. I tried to get up when I realized that I was in an unfamiliar room. I was still squinting as the light hurt slightly. Someone grasped my hands and made me lie down again. “Queen, you need to rest…&rd
I stared at my flat stomach in the mirror. It had been a week since the spirit had blessed me… alright… cursed me too but Alex and I had decided to focus only on the blessing part. “Wondering if you are pregnant?” Alex whispered as he hugged me from behind, softly nibbling my ears. “This wait is driving me crazy, Alex… when do you think I would get pregnant…”“I don’t know about that but we can try to increase our chances you know…” When I caught the naughty glint in his eyes my face heated and lowered my
EVA'S POVThe queasy feeling subsided after all the drink was out of my system. I heaved a sigh of relief and sat on the throne. My eyes flitted to Alex and the other Golden Shiffters gazing at me with worry. Damn! Why was this giving me a headache?“Are you alright, Eva?” Alex said, placing his hand on my head and projecting some energy into me. “Yeah… I am good… I think the glasses got interchanged and I drank Soma instead of blood… by the way, where is Victoria. Is she alright?”“I think she went to her room, Quee
THIRD PERSON’S POVCheerful chatter filled the Dining hall as everyone gathered in the hall. Every once in a while there would be silence when a pang of grief hit someone but they tried their best to keep up the lively atmosphere. “I have to say that Queen Eva has a very large heart…I mean I have never known anyone who can forgive someone who tried to steal their husband…”“True… She not only forgave her but she is accepting Victoria’s daughter as her Godchild….”“Hmmm…. But I am a bit scare
ALEX'S POV“Eva, I can’t believe a week has passed without any mishaps..” I said hugging Eva from the back. “Hmmm… everyone is still depressed. It tears me apart to see them lamenting and brooding. We have to do something, Alex…”She was right. We couldn’t continue to spend our entire life buried under layers of sorrow and darkness. It would defeat the purpose of our existence. “Eva, I think I know what to do…”&ldq
