CHAPTER TWO

Ysabella POV

I had a very busy schedule today with my patients and it was packed with back to back surgeries too. I had two surgeries in the morning and three in the afternoon. I haven’t eaten anything since the morning and all my energy was drained till I completed my last surgery. Right now all I want is my bed and some food to calm my growling stomach.

After packing my things, I grabbed two sandwiches from the hospital’s cafeteria for my dinner and started munching on one of them while I was seated in the drive’s seat. 

I just plan to sleep when I arrive at home thats why i am eating right now, also I can’t wait till i reach there because i am so hungry right now.After finishing the last bite of my sandwich,I begun to drive my car towards my house,I mean my parents house as I still live with my them and my sister.

My mother died 8 years ago and my dad remarried after two years of my mom’s death. So that means i live with my step sister and step mother now. As far as I know, they just want my father’s wealth and I promise I don't want to be part of it. 

I am just happy that I am able to become a doctor. It became my dream to become one after I witnessed my mom’s death. I was not able to help her, So I swore to myself that I will help as many people as i can ,who are fighting with any sickness.Till the date,I am trying to do my best to get them better. That's my ultimate goal as a doctor.

I park my car in the garage and I saw an unfamiliar black limousine outside our house. It’s not like I haven’t seen one before but seeing it outside our house is weird. Maybe my dad has a visitor. Whenever any visitor or important person come to meet my dad, He only let my step mom and step-sister meet them. I am not allowed to go in front of any visitors. Good thing is,I am not interested in these kind of matters. So it doesn’t bother me.

I went inside thinking about all this and the maid greeted me. I was walking to my room excited to have my good night’s sleep when I saw our Butler coming towards me.

"Miss, your father asked you to come to the study room." he said.Well thats strange, i thought. Dad never ask me to come and meet someone.He has always been cold towards me since my mother died.I never got to know the reason but he stopped showing any type of affection towards me, specially since he married my step mom.Yelling on me for small things became his second nature.

"Ok!"I replied to the butler and I went towards my dads study directly because i don’t want be late and anger him. I knocked on the door three time and opened it after I heard my dad voice saying "come in”.

Going in,I saw my dad, my step mom and step sister sitting with two other people. What shocked me is that the man sitting in front of my dad is my patient Mr. Luciano Martin and his wife Amanda Martin.He was talking to my dad while I entered and then they all looked towards me.

"Good evening dad, mom and sis. Good evening Mr and Mrs martin." I greeted all of them not knowing what else to say.

Luciano Martin has been my patient from sometime.He is a well known man in our city. Recently I performed a by-pass surgery for his heart. He and his wife are good people and they love like I am their grand daughter.I love them both too.They are like grandfather and grand mother to me too.

"Sweetheart, it's really nice to see you. You are really beautiful even when you are tired after a long shift" Mrs Martin greeted me sweetly and Mr Martin is also smiling towards me.

"Thank you Mrs Martin.” I can help but being curious why they were here, so i asked Mrs. Martin “But I am kind of confused by your sudden visit, that too at our house?”

"Such a unpleasant child you are.How can you ask them such a question. They are our guests. "Dad asked me in a slow tone but I can still feel his anger. Dad is always mean to me. He never want me anymore and I feel like total stranger in my own home.

"Oh don't say that!”Mr Martin defended me “She is the sweetest child we have ever met. She worked so hard so that I get better and I don't know how to pay such a huge debt of her.”

"Mr Martin it's my duty to help my patients. Please, you are not indebted to me" I reply.

He smiles when i said that and starts telling why they came here."Well my child, we came here to thank you personally but there is one more reason behind our visit. We are here because I have a proposition to invest in your father’s company. I heard it went bankrupt and I can help to save it by investing in his company." Mr Martin said. 

I look towards my dad who is looking in all business mode after listening to Mr. Martin’s proposition.I was kind of confused.So many questions were swirling in my mind.The company went bankrupt? How did it happen? I swear the company has been successful for how many years. How come??.

I came out of my thoughts after I heard my dad saying something."Of course it is truly acceptable. I am looking forward to do business with you Mr Martin." My dad said while smiling.

"We will invest in your company and we will not expect any returns. In fact we will give you as much money as your company need. But we just want one thing in return or rather someone" This time Mrs Martin spoke while looking at me.

"What do you mean Mrs Martin?"my dad asked looking confused too.

"I want your daughter to marry my grandson Archer Martin and be part of our family."Mr Martin proposed.Hearing this, my step mother and step sister started to squeal and their eyes shone like a child who has just been given a lollipop.

"Who doesn't want to marry Archer Martin. Of course it will be an honour to marry your grandson”.my step sister exclaimed happily.

"When are we going to plan the wedding?" My step mother said excitedly to our guests.

I was happy for my step-sister but the next thing that came out of Mr Martin’s mouth, shocked me completely."It seem like we have a little misunderstanding here. When I said I want to marry my grand son to your daughter, I only meant her" Mr Martin said while pointing his finger to me. 

My mouth hung open and my eyes were as big as flying saucer.

"Me?…..." I asked them while pointing to myself.

"Yes! You dear.. I want you to be my grand daughter. I want you to marry my grandson." Mrs Martin said.

I came out of shock a little bit and asked them"Is this some kind of a joke? I am sorry but I can't. I am too busy because of my work and also I can't marry your grandson who is don't even know".

"What are you talking about? You don't know Archer Martin? Are you from planet Mars? Everyone knows who he is.That guy is so handsome and looks like a Greek god." My step sister Lucy said while glaring towards me.

"But I don't.....”

"You are going to marry him, end of the discussion.You will not defy me." My dad said.

"But dad..."

Before I can finish my sentence, I was cut in half by my dad again.

"No more buts!"

I turn to Mrs and Mrs martin.

"Why me? My sister here will happily marry to your grandson. Please Mr and Mrs Martin. I beg you to change your mind." I plead to them.I am on verge of tears by now.

"I am sorry dear. But we can't. " Mrs Martin said looking at me.

"I think it's the end of the discussion.” Mr Martin said with finality in his voice.” Dear please think about it. If you decide not to marry my grandson, I will not invest in your father’s company. It's up to you dear. We are leaving now. I hope you will make a final decision by tomorrow morning. Please call me Mr Cullen when the decision is made.I will be waiting.”With that, they left.
