KINDNESS

DIEGO'S POV

When she barged in on me, my immediate concern was for my nakedness. I quickly tied my towel, hollering for her to leave. By the time I realized my second concern, it was too late. The cat was already out of the bag.

“You're standing!” She sounded so thrilled about it. Yeah well, I supposed she would be. I hated to admit it but she really worked hard to get me here, even after I made it clear that I would never accept her.

As much as I believed she was no better than Lisa, I had to admit that she was more diligent and farsighted. After all, she was willing to suffer through my disability only because there was hope of me walking someday, right?

In any case, I wasn't walking fully yet. I could only stand and hobble around a bit. It was also quite painful, but I knew it would improve fast. Now that I was truly recovering, total healing would be quick.

Reluctantly I answered her, “Yes, I'm standing. But just barely.”
