Kendra scoffed at her mother’s words, shaking her head in disbelief. The idea of her ruling the BlackMoon Pack was absurd. The Pack would never accept an Alpha who wasn’t born into their Pack, no matter how long she had lived among them. The truth was simple—she wasn’t one of them and never would be.

“You seriously think the Pack will just stand by and let Dad hand over the Alpha title to me when he retires?”

Her voice was laced with bitterness. Becoming Alpha wasn’t something she even desired, but knowing how impossible it was regardless of her worth stung.

For one to rule, you need to have the blood of the Pack running in your veins, and Kendra’s blood is from another Pack. The rule is for all the Pack, not just the Black Moon Pack.

An Alpha retired from leadership at fifty, passing the reins to a successor.

“I do,” the Luna replied calmly. “Your father is the Alpha, and the Pack will respect his decision. You are the rightful heir to his position, Kendra. You have earned

With his piercing and tattoos, Meredith doesn't see the redhead as worthy of her attention. Her parents will not approve of someone like him. They are friends because the redhead is friends with Jake. Meredith’s words stung like a punch to the gut. Nate’s easygoing smirk faltered for a fraction of a second before he recovered, his walls going up as quickly as her barbs had landed. He was used to being judged for his tattoos, piercings, and the rebellious edge that seemed to put people off before they even got to know him. But this… this was harder to brush off, even though he tried. “Don’t flatter yourself,” he fired back, his voice smooth but laced with hidden pain. “Hell will freeze over before I ask you on a date. I just thought you might want to hang out. But if you’d rather be alone, fine by me.” He turned on his heel, ready to walk away before the cracks in his façade became visible. “Stop!” Meredith’s voice rang out with commanding authority, freezing Nate mid-step. As the two women drove toward the supermarket, the tension in the car began to ease. Sheryl tapped her fingers on the steering wheel, humming to an R&B classic playing on the stereo. Finally, she broke the silence with a casual remark. “So, our kids are mates.” Grace blinked, turning to look at her friend. The words hung in the air momentarily before both women broke into identical grins, their excitement bubbling over. “I can’t believe it,” Grace said, her tone equal parts disbelief and joy. “The Moon Goddess actually paired them.” Sheryl laughed, her excitement infectious. “I know! I mean, we always hoped, but this… this is better than we could’ve imagined.” “It shows that they are meant for each other.” “I just thought of something,” Sheryl exclaimed, almost bouncing in her seat. “What?” Luna Grace looked at her best friend curiously. “Why don't we throw a party to celebrate them being mates,” Sheryl suggested, her expression excited that dimmed when she saw the hesitant

Jake stilled, his vision red with rage. He glared at the older woman, suspicion creeping into his mind like a slow poison. Did she know that Adira wasn’t his mate? She couldn’t have. Adira wouldn’t have had time to tell her, and he was certain they weren’t close enough to share such a personal revelation. Yet, something in Kendra’s gaze unsettled him, like she held a secret he wasn’t privy to. Jake decided in that moment—one born from instinct and desperation. He would claim the blonde. They were already pretending to be mates for the Pack; what was one more person believing the lie? He straightened to his full height, forcing his expression into unwavering confidence. A smirk curled his lips, his voice laced with certainty. “And that is where you are wrong. Adira is my mate,” he declared boldly and possessively, as if saying it aloud would solidify the truth in the fabric of reality. Kendra’s entire being recoiled at the claim. The tension in the room was so palpable that a knife could cut through it. As Danny waited for the Alpha wolf to take the phone from his hand, he flicked a glance at his best friend to see how he was doing. The poor boy was almost purple, causing Danny to wince in sympathy, his expression crunching slightly. Trix let the blonde boy’s hand hang in the air for a few minutes longer, relishing the palpable tension. She has to teach the young wolves not to mess with her or her human again. Then she reached for the phone. “Hello,” she growled into the phone. Adira froze at the sound of her mate’s voice. “Trix,” she muttered in a low tone, her voice trembling slightly. Trix closed her eyes at her mate’s sweet voice whispering her name. A shiver ran down her spine, but she kept silent, waiting for her mate to speak. “Please, put him down,” Adira pleaded, her tone thick from the emotion clogging her throat at speaking to her mate’s wolf. Trix didn't speak immediately but

Outside her sister's room, Adira rested against the wall, her head raised, her eyes closed as she blinked back the tears that filled her eyes. She won’t cry, she thought strongly, her fingers folding into a fist. She gave herself a few seconds to gather her composure, then leaned off the wall and headed toward the lift, determined to forget what happened in her sister’s room. Jake paced like a caged animal as he and his friends waited for Adira to join them. Dylan sat at the driver’s side, the door open, his feet outside, and his ears plugged, his attention flicking between his pacing best friend and his phone. He tried to get Jake to calm down, but Jake ignored him like he was invisible. The dark boy is worried about the repercussions of his actions, and no matter how often he tells himself that Adira is not mad, he feels double the amount he is deluding himself. Nate slipped the phone back into his phone and let out a tired sigh. He didn't want to deal with his friends, especially her. He took a step to continue his work, only to run into someone. He reacted quickly and caught the person before they could fall. He started to apologize even before he knew who he held. “I am so…” Nate stopped abruptly when he saw a pair of twinkling green eyes belonging to a stunning face with a crown of gorgeous red hair. He lost his train of thought, which the red hair in his arms found amusing. "Are you gonna let me go?" she teased, a beautiful smile playing across her lips. Nate’s face assumed the same color as his hair. “Of course,” he said shyly, letting the girl go like she was hot. She is hot—something every part of Nate acknowledges. The girl exudes unwavering confidence and seems to find Nate attractive as well. “Gloria.” she stretched her hand to Nate. “N-Nate,” Nate stammered, shaking the girl’s hand while kicking himself inside for ac

They both turned to the Alpha, a stubborn look on Kendra’s face, while the doctor looked frustrated and relieved to see the Alpha. He has never met a more stubborn young woman. “Please, can you talk some sense into her,” the doctor pleaded dramatically with the Alpha. Last night, she tore her stitches from doing God knows what! And this morning, she wants to leave. “Um…what? H…how did you know?” Adira was so shocked by her mother's question, more like a statement of fact, that she could barely string words together and felt downright panicky that her secret was out in the open. Luna Grace laughed at her daughter's gobsmacked expression. “What do you want me to do first?" she asked, “Repeat what I said or answer your question.” The older blonde raised a brow at her daughter, a teasing smile playing across her lips. Adira blinked several times as she tried to overcome her shock and racing heart. “The last part,” she said huskily. Luna Grace nodded. “I am your mother.” “That is it?” Adira looked like she didn't believe her mother. Luna Grace shrugged. She had noticed something was off from the beginning, but the tension between her daughter and Jake confirmed her suspicion during the dinner. “You haven't answered me, though,” she reminded her daughter. Adira threw herself back on her bed, her hands going underneath her head. She felt t

  • FORBIDDEN MATES   Chapter Twenty-nine: A Drunk Mistake

Jake was the last person Meredith expected to be standing on the other side of her door. Why the fuck did he come here when she looked a mess. From a young age, Meredith’s mother taught her that appearance was everything. She drummed it into her daughter's ears that no man should see her without makeup, and Meredith has diligently followed this teaching. She never left the house without makeup or dressed as if on her way to Oscar. Tonight was different. Her hair looked messy, her face stained with tears and makeup, her eyes slightly swollen. “Jake!” Meredith gasped, sweeping her hand through her hair to straighten it up, not that it helped. “What are…?” Meredith’s words trailed off as she noticed the state Jake was in. “What happened?” She took a step toward Jake, her face full of concern for the teenage boy, and her sorrows pushed back down to the pits of her mind. Jake didn't respond to Meredith’s question but stared at her with a smoldering gaze. The intensity o

Kendra stiffened at Adira’s words, her back to the blonde. The word love terrifies the shit out of her. After losing her parents, Kendra vowed never to love anything in her life again. Yes, she cares about her sister, but love? She turned to face her sister, her expression icy cold. Adira returned Kendra’s cold regard with a brave one, her expression calm, even though her insides shook from nerves. She took a gamble, reminding her sister of her mumbling in her moment of lucidity to see how it went, and from what she could see, it wasn't going well. “Love?” Her sister was being utterly ruthless in covering her feelings. Adira couldn't read a damn thing, but she persevered. She nodded her head to Kendra’s question. "Are you saying you don’t?" she teased with a straight face. Okay, now she is enjoying needling her sister, hoping for a reaction from her. Kendra raised a brow at her little sister, her eyes narrowing at the blonde, trying to figure out what she was up to

Kendra relaxed back on the bed like a cat lazing under the afternoon sun as she listened to her sister converse with their mother. “Where are you, Adira?” Luna Grace asked from the other side of the phone, her voice tinged with concern. Many eyes watched her intently, waiting to hear about the whereabouts of the Alpha family’s youngest. Knowing her whereabouts could provide insight as to where the other kids disappeared. Neither the Alpha youngest nor her friends could be found in the dinner set in her honor, and her parents are worried and keen to know where their offspring jetted off to. Adira stole another look at her eldest sister, wondering if the brunette cared if their mother knew where she was. They were actually in the middle of something, and Adira would like to get back to it. “I am fine, Mum, don't worry about me.” She ended the call before her mother could say another word. “Where is she?” Alpha Conor demanded as soon as his mate got off the phone. When she got to her, she bent toward the wound to inspect why it was bleeding. "What happened?" She asked worriedly, her slender fingers tracing the edges of the newly opened wound. Kendra flinched from the warm touch on her skin, not because she was in pain but because of the warmth that traveled over her body at Adira’s touch. Thinking her sister was in pain, Adira quickly withdrew her hand and stared up at her, her green eyes radiating warmth and concern. "Does it hurt?" She asked innocently, unaware of the battle raging within her sister as she fought to control her desire. Adira gasped audibly at the quick transformation of Kendra’s eyes.
