I don't think the term ‘stressed out’ even begins to cover the level of exhaustion that's floating in my bloodstream. My body is moving on autopilot, my legs carrying themselves slowly over the expanse of the office floors as I moved from one task to another.

The sound over the intercom forces a shock out of me, and I barely manage to fight back my groan.

"Ms. Ross, report to my office immediately."

Mr. Evans has had a vendetta against me ever since I turned him down at the bar he took me to last week and it was all I could do to not hide in a hole instead of showing up to work everyday.

I dropped off the documents I was supposed to deliver to my supervisor in the marketing department, Mr. Jackson, on my desk and head straight for the elevator with a weary sigh.

By the time I got to his office, my nerves were all over the place, but I put on a mask of utter composure.

My knuckles connected with the hard frame of the door in a knock.

"Come in." His deep voice carries over to me
