A NEW MISTAKE?

"What is wrong with you? Why are you sounding that way? All we had was a single night, Dylan; and it was supposed to end there. Don't make this into something that it isn't, and shouldn't even be."

Even as I say the words I can feel my heart race at the way his arms are folded over his chest in a daunting pose, his eyes never leaving mine.

"Are you done?" His voice is cold when he asks.

"Don't you dare do that! I make a good point and you know it." I mimic his pose. "Or what? Why didn't you come clean to my father when you saw me if you knew you wanted to stake a claim on me?" I challenge.

A single brow inches high on his forehead. "I don't think you would have reacted well to that, so I thought to save you the embarrassment." He points at me with an upturned palm. "I mean, look at how flustered you get now that I mention it. And we're alone."

My cheeks heat up at his assessment and I close my eyes, rubbing my fingers against my forehead to ease the headache that's starting
