Prologue : The project

It was during the course of the day in Danelle's office where Danelle was having a conversation with Sammy and her lawyer about the land that she had recently bought..It has always been part of her long time plan to build another five star hotel but this time in the honor of her grandmother whom she loved so much..She had found a perfect place, a perfect land for that but much to her dismay, her best friend was having issues and very unnecessary issues at that..

"What you doing is not right Danelle ,think about those poor people at least..Where will they go?" Sammy went on again and to say this wasn't getting on Danelle last never would be a lie..She was getting fed up of the man's constant bickering 

"And what exactly do you think I am doing?" Danelle questioned, her face crunched up in annoyance as she looked over at the man in front of her "Listen here Sammy ,I really don't care about those people, do you understand ?..All I care about right now is for the project to be done soon and that's it "

"But couldn't you choose another land to buy other than that one?..Those people are going to suffer because of you Danelle..Just think about this please" Sammy pleaded once again as he tried to convince Danelle to at least reconsider about her decision..As if he wasn't trying to do the same thing all this while..

"Whose side are you exactly on here Sammy?No you tell me!"Danelle inquired impatiently already loosing the last bit of patience she had..She had had enough of Sammy already and the man himself knew best well to not make Danelle mad but with so many people on the verge of losing their homes,he couldn't just keep quiet..

"Of course I'm on your side but at least just listen to me" Sammy stated , looking over at Danelle once again"Look I can understand that you want to build that five star hotel..It's what you always wanted, I get it ,but please think about all those poor people man..Where will they go if you demolish their home?"

"I understand your concerns okay, but I'm still not changing my mind "

"Oh come on McKenzie ,what about that land you bought last year ? And the one you bought just recently before this one ?..You can use those lands man ,in fact they are even much bigger for a five star hotel "

"You know Sammy It's good that you understand that I have always wanted to build this hotel but you are not trying to understand me..It is important I build that hotel okay ?"Danelle's face was set on straight as she continued "So you listen here because I'm not going to say this to you again..I bought that land and I'm going to use it however I so wish and nobody is going to stop me ,not even you"

McKenzie's voice was firm ,leaving no room for any further discussion and Sammy was quick to get the hint that McKenzie didn't wanna take about this anymore.. Though he was reluctant but he decided to let it go at least for now..

"Mr Dixit I want those people out off my land and I'm counting on you to make that happen..It will be better if you send them those eviction letters as soon as possible to let them know about the current situation and because I'm actually not that bad, I'll give them a whole month for them to start looking for places to stay" Danelle said whilst glaring daggers at her best friend before she walked around to sit on her comfortable office chair behind a big mahogany table..

"Consider it done Ms McKenzie "Mr Dixit said with a smile on his face as he stood up , shaking hands and said his goodbyes before he left Danelle's office

The two were left in great silence between them ,one could really feel the tension that was now the air in that office..

"There is nothing that you are going to say that will make me chance my mind..My decision is final, so I suggest you drop it"Danelle said looking at her best friend and business associate for a minute before turning her eyes back on the screen of her laptop that was in front of her..

"This is not fair man" Sammy said disappointedly but Danelle didn't spare nor pay attention to him any longer because she knew that there was no turning back once she put something in her mind and nobody was going to tell her otherwise..

"Life ain't fair itself" Danelle said back to him as she shrugged carelessly 

Sammy huffed as he literally stomped out off Danelle's office..He was feeling so angry and very disappointed..But what could he have do? The boss has spoken and nobody was going do anything about that..Danelle wasn't really fond of being told what to do..What she does was what she wanted and whatever she wanted, she always made sure she got it no matter what..So as much as she wanted that land which technically belonged to her anyways,she was going to build her hotel there whether anybody liked it or not ..

And that was the thing with her, the woman didn't care about anything except herself and her family.. She was so damn arrogant and rude..She looked down upon people especially poor ones..She had made up her mind that poor people were nothing but predators ,that they used their poor and sneaky ways to manipulate rich people and prey off of their money.. She had made it very clear and even said it in couple of her interviews that she didn't like lower class people that much  because they were not to be trusted..Of course she had always said that in a way that was somehow not offensive ,in words that were able to hide the despise and the insults..Despite everything ,many people actually respected and loved her and not to talk about the love she got from women..The ladies were literally throwing themselves at her.. Danelle McKenzie was very handsome and hot everybody knew that ..From her gorgeous face to her defined built body that could put most man to shame..The woman was one hell piece of meat that every woman wanted a bite of..Despite the attention she literally got from women everywhere she went ,she was never interested.. Or if she was interest that was only limited to messing around with each other ,no feelings involved..They had asked her so many time in her interviews why she was still single but she always found a way to avoid answering the question or she would just say 'my personal life or rather my love life is none of anybody's business' simple as that..Even her mother was so persistent that McKenzie find a woman and settle down but McKenzie wasn't with that..

She lost all hope in love because of just one woman.. A word  love didn't exist in Danelle's vocabulary anymore..She didn't have a heart to love anymore..What mattered to her now was her family ,money and her businesses that was all.. Being all romantic and all that sappy stuff was just not in her anymore..She was like a person who didn't even have just an ounce of feelings in her anymore..And people who were in love or believed that true love existed made her sick to the stomach..She didn't understand why they had to be so foolish and of course stupid in believing that they were actually in love or whatever that fantasy might be..All she knew was that women couldn't be trusted and she made a promise to herself to stay away from them ..Of course that didn't mean she couldn't get laid , she could easily get any woman she wanted for the night, fuck her and after that never talk to her again..

Danelle was interrupted from her work when her personal phone started to ring and she was tempered to not pick it up but did once she noticed it was from her mother.

"Yes mother "She answered the phone after it rang a couple of times 

"How are you doing honey?" Her mother sounded so happy but she playfully rolled her eyes

"Mom I'm at works, working and very busy right now"Danelle said as her mother scoffed lightly 

"I know you busy honey but I need to tell you this" she said and Danelle hummed for her to continue "I got a call from South Edovus college this morning and they invited us to the graduation ceremony that is taking place this Friday..So apparently we are the special guests and they want you to personally hand out the certificates and trophies to the graduates"

"I don't think I will make it there mother..Like I said I'm very busy this week ,so you can go if you want to"She lied..That was not the reason why she didn't want to go there..South Edovus was a local college and that was the top reason why Danelle didn't want to go there. 

"I know honey but I just can't go there alone plus those people are looking forward to see you , please baby let's go together , even if you won't stay long "  

"Mom you can ask Sammy to go with you..I mean he is more like a McKenzie now..I know he wouldn't have problem accompanying you plus Friday I have a plane to catch on Friday ,so I won't make it there"McKenzie explained convincingly hoping her mom to understand and being an understanding woman she was she did..But that wasn't technically a lie because McKenzie was indeed supposed to go to London on Friday for work. 

Karina sighed , sounding bit disappointed but she didn't want to force her daughter to do something that she didn't want to do , though she hand an idea that McKenzie was just making an excuse"Okay Danelle I will tell Mrs Smith and Mr Connor that you won't make it to the graduation ceremony and I will take the honor to give the certificates and trophies on your behalf"

"Thanks mom ,well I have to go now..I have a meeting..I love you okay"Danelle said with a small smile on her face and her mother told her she loved her too before she call dropped 

After hanging up the phone Danelle leaned back in her chair with pure disgust all over her face. All she was thinking about was the audacity of those people calling her to be the chief guest on such a low scale college..All they wanted was to put their little stupid college on the map and be the talk of the town at her expense,McKenzie thought

Again with poor people using the rich for their own gain 

"So fucking pathetic" McKenzie growled icily before she forced herself to continue with the work she was doing just before her mother called..
