That was the first day of classes for the first semester of that school year. And because he was a transferee, Daniel automatically became an irregular student at the university he transferred to in Manila.
“Drive safely, good luck on your first day!” Daniel’s sister, Danica, cheerfully added as she kissed him on the cheek while he was still enjoying his breakfast. “Alright, sis. Take care of yourself as you sort out your papers. Maybe it’s better if you bring Manang Salyn with you; she knows her way around Manila better,” he reminded his sister.
“Okay,” Danica replied shortly, smiling. After that, she left.
Daniel didn’t have a difficult time traveling even though it was the first day of school. Maybe it was because he left home early, that’s why.
As expected, his sister Danica’s flight to New York would proceed. And just as expected, he would be left alone in that big house.
The young man sighed deeply.
He needed to get used to the fact that in a few months, he would only have Aling Salyn, the housekeeper, as his companion.
It was okay with him because he was old enough to take care of himself. He also needed to get used to being independent and not always relying on his sister.
Traffic wasn’t that bad, so he wasn’t late for class. In fact, he arrived an hour early, giving him a chance to read, so he decided to head to the library. However, he changed his mind when he reached the tall library building and instead took the stairs leading to what he thought was the roof deck, and he was right.
A cool morning breeze gently caressed Daniel’s face.
The wind was damp because of the rain that had been falling for a few days, just like this morning when he woke up.
He let his gaze wander across the wide quadrangle of the renowned university. He had to admit that he missed his former school in Cebu, but he wasn’t a child anymore to dwell on sentimental feelings about it.
Perhaps his course of study would take a bit longer due to his status as an irregular student, but it was okay. He had a strong feeling that he would have a good reason in the end, one that he would be grateful for, for agreeing to move to Manila.
Daniel stayed in that position for a few moments before deciding to shift his gaze. It was then that he suddenly froze as he noticed a student sitting on the long concrete bench not far from where he stood.
Only half of her figure was visible, as it was partially hidden by the concrete wall against which she leaned while sitting with her back to him. She had blonde hair, still damp and gently swayed by the morning breeze. Even from a distance, he could clearly see the beautiful shape of her arms, fair and smooth.
Daniel suddenly remembered a girl he had seen walking along the street in front of their large house almost two months ago. After that, he chose to push that memory aside and focused on heading to his first class.
Ara had nearly an hour of vacant time before her first class, so she decided to stay on the roof deck and read there instead of going to the library. It had been a month since she started working as a student assistant in the library, so whenever she had the opportunity, like now, she preferred to stay in that spot since she discovered it.
Unlike other working students whose schedules often became irregular, she and the other student assistants still had regular class schedules. In other words, she was still a regular student. The only difference was that she had to arrive at school earlier before the library opened to assist students or help clean the library with her fellow SAs.
“Ara!” came a familiar voice from behind her, causing the girl to slightly startle.
“Oh, Jason, are you trying to give me a heart attack?” she said, chuckling slightly as she placed her hand over her chest.
The young man approached her with a smile. Like her, he was also a student assistant, older than her, and in his third year of Civil Engineering.
Jason was handsome, intelligent, and kind. It was no wonder that even though they hadn’t spent much time together, Ara noticed many girls becoming infatuated with him. And because they were friends, she couldn’t help but feel proud.
“Come on, I’ll walk you to your classroom,” he offered.
Ara smiled at his words. “Oh, come on, there’s no need for that. I can manage,” she chuckled.
Jason shook his head. “I insist,” he said with a tone that she knew she couldn’t change.
Ara shrugged her shoulders and stood up, gathering her belongings. “It’s up to you, but your department building is quite far from ours. You’ll get tired walking,” she added as Jason joined her in walking.
“It’s fine,” he replied shortly.
Ara didn’t say anything else after that. She knew that no matter what she did, she couldn’t persuade Jason not to accompany her. Well, that’s just who he was. She wasn’t the type to insist on things she knew the other person wouldn’t give in to. Besides, there was nothing wrong with what he wanted to happen, although she had noticed the glances exchanged between Jason and the female students they passed by ever since their friendship began to blossom.

As Daniel stood in the corridor outside their classroom, he was immediately taken aback when he caught sight of a blonde-haired female student. Despite the distance, he could still see her familiar and graceful stride. She was accompanied by a tall, dark-skinned guy, presumably her boyfriend.
At that moment, a part of Daniel’s mind seemed unwilling to accept it. He knew he shouldn’t make a big deal out of it because, first of all, he didn’t even know the girl. And even if the girl he saw walking in front of their house, the one he saw on the roof deck earlier, and this girl now were the same person, so what?
It shouldn’t be a big deal, so he quickly pushed it out of his mind.
“We’ll have lunch together later, alright?” Jason said after escorting him to their classroom.
Ara nodded. “Okay,” she replied.
Ever since they had met, they always had lunch together. In fact, aside from both being student assistants in the library, lunch became a bridge that strengthened their friendship.
“I know a great place to eat, and I’ll treat you,” Jason added.
“You’re always treating me, it’s embarrassing how often you insist on paying for my lunch,” Ara whispered with a smile.
He chuckled and gave her a teasing look. “Well, you’re strong enough to handle me,” he said, lightly pinching her cheek. “I’ll go ahead,” he added.
“Okay, see you,” she replied.
As Jason walked away, Ara couldn’t help but feel a sense of happiness in her heart, knowing that she had a friend like him by her side.
THE following day is the first day of Daniel's duty at the library as a student assistant. Many were delighted, most were women, as well as their librarian Shiela was unable to escape the venom of the young man's charisma.Jason, as Daniel's friend, is very as well. She expected that already, but anyone would be asked about what she feels, she is not happy.Maybe she lied in that part. But even though she admitted that she was fascinated by Daniel's good looks, she still couldn't stop feeling annoyed for him because of his excessive strength to tease. And Daniel's type of teasing is not just simple. It is mixed with mischief that can make her heart beat faster. And that was the real reason for the annoyance and irritation that she felt for the young man."Just my luck," Ara whispered sarcastically to herself as she looked up at the
AFTER wiping the shelves, Ara became so busy returning the books, that is why she did not notice the quick passing of hours. It's past six and the library is closed.During that time they are busy cleaning the library already. And since Daniel and she were on duty for that time, Ara could not help but feel intense discomfort due to the young man's presence."If you want you can rest, I'll just do this," Daniel said kindly as he was busy sweeping the floor.Daniel's words touched Ara's heart but she could not get out of her mind what he did to her the other day so as usual the annoyance she felt for the man prevailed again."I will be scolded if I do what you say," Ara's tone seemed even colder than ice.She intended that to show Daniel how much she disliked him but that seemed to not affect the man. Because he reacted differently. H
MY FEET felt heavy as I crossed the rocky road in that area. I’m not familiar and I don’t know where that is. But my feet hurt and I just endured the feeling of small, sharp rocks piercing on them. Despite the fact that the said place is stranger to me I still can’t help to admire it. The scenery was beautiful and the fresh air was fragrant, mixed with the smell of dew-soaked grass and the petals of wildflowers. That place was so beautiful and even though I had no idea where I really was, that thought didn't seem to matter to me anymore. I didn’t even care about the rocky road I was treading, because what was more important to me in those moments, was the wonderful feeling that was given to me as if that place seemed like paradise. After all, I grew up on a large, beautiful hacienda. Yes, I am an heiress, and one day my brother and I were the two heirs to that hacienda. And because of that kind of place where I grew up, I thought, I shouldn't have felt so much amazement here. B
Present Day... Bella quickly wiped away the tears that had soaked her face. She did not know Daniel, but everything she read was enough to justify everything that had happened. She turned to the next page again. And by that time it was no longer the usual Dear Diary she had read written on the left and top part of the paper, but the words Dearest Daniel. Yes, this is where her sister started writing to her late husband and that is what broke her heart. ***** Dearest Daniel, I’m here in our room, and as I write this I’m hugging your framed photo. You're really handsome, you know? And for me, you are the most handsome man in the world. That's true. I miss you so much. The next morning after the night that we talked, as you want it to happen I forced myself to be brave. And I promise you that I will continue to be that way, for you.
"WHAT are you saying?" my weeping utterance."The truth," he laughed softly then stared at me. "Look at me," a moment later I averted my gaze from my husband that's what I heard him say.Even though I didn't want to, I willingly obeyed him. Daniel has always been like that. He had his own way of persuading me and he did not have to raise his voice or be authoritative in the tone of his speech to do so."When I'm gone, fall in love again, go on with your life," I quickly felt an intense coldness all over my body because of what Daniel said.I shook my head consecutively. "No, you know I can't do that. You know how much I love you and when I do that you also know that even if there is someone else next to me you will still be the one I will look for, you will still be the one I will find," I cried insistently.I can't believe I heard those words from him personally but on the other han
Dear Diary,When Daniel's treatment started, I filled my heart with hope that my husband would recover. I love him so much and I still want to be with him. It was hard for me to let him go because I had already built my life with him, and that started the day when I answered him and accepted him into my life as my boyfriend. And that didn’t just double the day I agreed to marry him.I try to think that he will recover because I love him so much.I like to think that he will still be with me until I grow old. But doctors say otherwise. Daniel says otherwise.Maybe that’s really the case when you love someone. You will try to hold on even if you can't find anything to hold on to. Because you don't want to let him go.Days, weeks, and months passed. My husband's appearance has changed a lot. In the room where we were still sleeping, he wanted us to sleep next to each other,
"ISN'T it bad for you that we're doing this?" when they were both lying on the bed that was what Ara asked her husband.Ara heard the faint laugh that ran down on Daniel's throat. "I don't think so," he replied and then pulled her at touched her forehead with a simple kiss."In that case, let's take advantage of the situation," she said as she moved and went on top of her husband."Ara!" Daniel rebukes her.Thrilled that she just laughed softly and then started undressing again the now thin negligee that she was wearing."You don't have to get up, don't worry because I'm in charge this time," she said, throwing her negligee and then followed by her underwear made of thin lace.Their room was dark at that moment because they had turned off the light earlier after taking a bath. And only the light coming from the lamppost on the road serves as their torch. Its light pen
JUST as Daniel wanted to happen, she met his gaze. That's why she could clearly see how the emotion in his dark eyes changed as he claimed her. They were both soaked in the cold water flowing from the shower. But that did not decrease the heat that she was feeling as soon as her husband's furious maleness started to go in and out of her femininity."Y-You might get tired, ohhhhh!" she said then closed her eyes again when she felt a deep thrust coming from Daniel."I'm okay, don't worry about me," her husband replied as the corner of his lips rose before he lowered his head and claimed her lips. "I love you," he whispered huskily when he released her mouth. After that, he lifted her and sat her at the long bathroom counter. Her husband's actions intensified the heat that she felt. She felt very hot because with each attack she could feel the anger of his manhood hitti
MARIELLE had already asked them what they planned for their first night as a couple. At first, Daniel joked that he wanted a trip to Europe, but because of his condition, they both knew that it was impossible to happen.Ara suggested that they stay at the mansion. Now she is happily married to the man she loves the most. For her, more important than anything money can buy and pay for is to start Daniel's treatment."Why didn't you agree when Mama suggested we check in at a five-star hotel?" as they had agreed before she moved into the mansion she would sleep in her husband's bedroom from that night on.They were on the veranda then and breathing some fresh air. They had just finished eating a delicious dinner that Salyn and her mother-in-law prepared. In addition to that, they also had a nice lunch earlier as their wedding reception at a five-star hotel and restaurant."I don't need that, I prefer i
THE day that Ara and Daniel had been waiting had arrived. It wasn’t the kind of marriage she dreamed of, she had to admit it to herself. But even so, even if it wasn't the kind of marriage she had dreamed of since she was a child, she didn't feel the slightest bit of sadness or regret. Because the truth is, she was very happy. She is so much in love with the man she will marry and that is the most important thing of all. It's the same reason why her heart is still full of happiness. For the last time, Ara stared at herself in front of the large mirror in her room.Last night, instead of Daniel it was Danica who bought that dress with her. It was not easy for the three of them to convince the young man to just stay at home and let her leave with his sister. She was grateful when eventually she was able to convince him when she said she would be okay. Ara understa
IN the following days both of them became busy fixing everything for their wedding. Daniel's mother has been the one helping them. The wedding will be held at Judge Arcega's office. The judge is a friend of Daniel's parents who will be the one to marry them."Where are we going?" Ara asked one day before their wedding. It was a Saturday, no classes, while their wedding would be held the next day."Let's buy a dress for you to wear for tomorrow. I want you to be very beautiful," the young man stared at her then stroked her cheek."Can you still drive?" she asked the young man in a worried tone."Of course, I'm taking advantage of the opportunity while I can because I know I won't be able to do all this soon, especially when my treatment starts," her boyfriend told her as they left the garage. But that was the intensity of the shock that Ara felt w
