Berrilyl's POV

Her gaze snapped to mine, her eyes flashing with defiance but Cage stood firm, his expression unyielding she didn't dare oppose him.

Slowly, she released her grip on my arms, her chest heaving with ragged breaths.

As the guards closed in to restrain her, the young mistress' eyes locked onto mine once more. "You'll pay for this" she spat, her voice venomous. "You'll pay for what you've caused me. You will"

I stood frozen, my eyes fixed on the once mighty Young mistress, now reduced to an utter state of despair and nothingness.

"I hate you!" Her eyes blazed with a force intensity as she yelled hysterically. Her face was a mixture of rage and desperation. The air was thick with the weight of her curses, directed squarely at both Cage and Berrilyl, whom she accused of framing her family.

Despite the dramatic scene unfolding before her, Berrilyl felt no pang of pity or remorse. Her expression remained impassive, a mask of indifference that hid her true thoughts. She had witnessed countless scenes like this before, and her emotions had long since been numbed by the harsh realities of her world.

Cage, seemingly unmoved by the woman's outbursts raised a hand, and his guards sprang into action.

They closed in on the young mistress with swift and sufficient movements as they dragged her away still cursing and struggling.

I watched the scene unfolding with a detached sense of curiosity, my eyes never left her face. She had treated me like an animal when Cage was punishing me.

Making me crave food and then taking it away because she wanted me to hurt, but that wasn't the case now. It was the reverse and I was ready to watch her suffer and pay.

She and her maids laughed at me, although some of her maid's laughter was false. It was quite interesting to watch your enemy fall. This was the way I was supposed to feel when Cage was about to be attacked, but instead, I felt the opposite and rushed to save him.

Just as the guards were about to disappear from view, Cage's voice rang out, his tone firm and authoritative. "Wait" he commanded, his eyes narrowing as he looked at the young mistress.

My gaze snapped back to Cage but my mind was filled with questions. What was he planning?

The guards hesitated, unsure of what to do, before Cage mentioned for them to come. The young mistress was brought back into view, her eyes locked with Cage's. Cage looked like he was about to cut he to pieces and she looked so scared.

It was clear that he had been in a bad mood, and everyone knew that would never end well.

"I've changed my mind" Cage announced, his voice dripping with an air of nonchalance. "I think more... Suitable punishment is in order"My eyes locked onto the young mistress. That was one of the worst things that could ever happen to a person. My mind turned with possibilities racing with the implications of words.

The guards nodded, their faces expressionless, as they dragged the young mistress away once more. This time, I sensed a feeling of finality, the young mistress fate was all but sealed. Nothing could save her now.

As we left the pack centre, Cage turned to Milano, his voice low and even. "See to it that the young mistress is sent to the black market" My eyes became wide open. Our minds went blank for some time as we heard the punishment he ended up settling for.

The black market had dirty kind of people who came there. There were always bad-intentioned people. I knew that the Young mistress would never be the same again.

The journey back to the pack mansion was silent, the only sound was the soft him of the engines and the occasional rustle of people. None of us said a word to each other.

My mind hovered with the thought of how the young mistress life would now be. The punishment he gave her was quite grave and it seemed like it was because of me her punishment truly increased.

But it could also be because of he hates her father and her personally. If he cared that much about me he wouldn't have punished me to that extent.

When we arrived at the Mansion, Cage turned to me, his expression unreadable. "Berrilyl, make me coffee" he ordered but his voice was less domineering as before. Something was stressing him and for unknown reasons I felt bad.

I nodded and looked around searching for any sign of something that could have annoyed him, maybe someone or perhaps the betrayal from the people he trusted caused it.

I left for the kitchen as I couldn't figure it out and it would be trouble if he asks for his coffee and I wouldn't be able to provide it.

The silence in the hallway was oppressive with some maid glancing strangely at me. I could only wonder what rumor was spreading this time.

As I entered the kitchen, I spotted Talia washing the dishes, her movements slow and mechanical. My gaze locked onto Talia's face, and I noticed that she seemed distracted, her eyes fixed on some point in the distance.

And then, my gaze dropped to Talia's lips, and she felt a jolt of surprise. They were swollen, a faint bruise visible on the edge of her mouth. My eyes narrowed, my thoughts racing with questions. What had happened to Talia? And who was responsible for the bruise on her lip?

Berrilyl's POVI walked over to Talia and didn't disturb her, going ahead with my work. Trying not to be too loud and draw attention to myself, I began preparing for the next meal: cleaning up and organizing the kitchen space. I was used to working in silence, and this moment felt like a small reprieve from the chaos that always surrounded the Packhouse.Meanwhile, Talia washed the dishes. She didn't seem to mind my presence, though I could tell she was distracted. I watched her for a while, noticing how slowly she moved as if her thoughts were elsewhere.I watched her, and a wave of worry washed over me. The idea was really to ask her what was going on, to try and understand what was bothering her, but at the same time, I would not like to intrude, let alone make her uncomfortable. She just looked so lost in her thoughts, and if she wasn't ready to say anything, then I did not want to pressure her. So, I continued with my work, deciding to leave her alone in the meantime. As I turned

Cage's POVThat night, I felt unbearably restless. I was burning with an intensity that hadn't been much in months. Every inch of my skin seemed to burn, and no matter the effort I made to shake it off, it just wouldn't budge. It was overwhelming and uncomfortable, and I couldn't stay still. I needed to move, act, and do anything necessary to divert my mind from this overwhelming sensation.Without over-thinking, I just got up and left the mansion. I couldn't stand being here anymore with this weird burning beneath my skin. Outside, the air was colder than in here, yet that did little to relieve me from my ordeal. I changed into a wolf and plunged into the woods to try to get at least some relief from the open space and night's chill. But even as I ran, my body seemed to grow hotter, and the urge to get away became all the more urgent.I ran for hours, my body going well beyond anything I had ever done. The cool wind against my fur, the leaves crunching beneath my paws—should have bee

Cage's POVMy palm struck my cheek with a loud crack, the strike radiating through my skin. I slapped myself again and again, each blow landing with precision and force. But no matter how hard I hit myself, the pain and frustration still lingered. It made me give up on trying. I decided that I would seek help. I just needed this rut to disappear from my body. It came at the wrong time of the year with more intense desires and trying to suppress it caused me more pain than I'd ever experienced and expected. It was so unbearable.I was about to scream for help when a tipple of pain shot through me. The pain was sudden and, worse, I used all the strength I had to cover my mouth with my palms to avoid screaming out.If some disloyal people knew of this state of mine, the next thing that would happen would be me being taken advantage of, it was going to be a great opportunity for them that they wouldn't let waste.Scanning the room frantically with my eyes, my mind raced with thoughts of B

Berrilyl's POVI lay on my bed, staring blankly at the ceiling as my eyes refused to close, and sleep chose to ignore me despite my desperately asking for it.Uneasiness and restlessness hugged me, and I couldn't understand why I felt like this; there was a nagging voice in the back of my mind that refused to let me sleep. For some crazy and unimaginable reason, my thoughts kept spiralling back towards Cage, and I couldn't fathom why. The thought was despicable."What was wrong with me?" I muttered to myself, frustration etched on my face. First, I had saved him instead of trying to escape. Risking my life for him was one of the stupidest things that I had done. In regret, I thought of how he punished me but also fed me, and then I realized that the only reason he did that was that he needed me to look okay when it was time for the engagement, and one of the worst things was that picture he showed me when Owen was with the young mistress. It broke my heart into pieces, and I didn't

Berrilyl's POVI wiped my tears, feeling frustrated and heartbroken. I didn’t want to cry anymore, and I was sure I’d cried enough tears for today. But no matter how hard I tried to hold it together, my emotions got the best of me. I quickly turned around, intending to leave, but before I could make it out, I heard it.My name.Very soft, almost a whisper, yet unmistakable, was Cage’s voice.I froze where I was, my heart pounding against my ribs. My head was racing, and then for a second, I must have hallucinated it. I remained at the spot, expecting to hear something more. A second later, I heard it again: this time, a louder grunt followed by a strained huffed breath. The sound had my stomach twisting in a deep, unsettled feeling that ran right through me. It wasn’t the sound of a man in control; it wasn’t a sound from the Cage I knew.It was different. He sounded like he was hurting.I didn’t know why my heart ached for him, but I felt the instinct to help, to make sure he was okay

Berrilyl's POVI stared in fear as Cage started to thrash about in pain, his body jerking spastically, his eyes wide and filled with confusion and pain. I couldn't turn away, panic bubbling up inside me. My chest tightened at the thought of how I could help him. The Cage I knew was no longer there—this wasn't the strong, steady man who always took charge of situations. His whole body quivered with each slight movement, and he groaned with pain as though every breath had been hard work.Grace was standing by him, an almost unnatural serenity in her regard. She had not attempted to help him at all; instead, she was trying to force herself on him. It was simply Grace's presence that made it worse, even chaotic. I could not seem to get out of my head this feeling of wrongness regarding everything."Anything could happen to him if we don't help him," I said, my voice cracking with all the panic that was racing inside my head. I felt like I was helpless, standing and watching Cage suffer.G

Berrilyl's POVTo my surprise, I heard that my brother's pack was left with no alpha and it had been taken over by some group of greedy wolves. The best part of it was that his Luna wife and the others were taken as concubine under the current leader apart from his wife Lucia who had gone earlier with some people of the pack who believed of in her and some of the slaves in the palace that agreed to help her escape. All the slaves he captured had been set free by Lucia but the ones who stayed due to greedy reason were now all under their new leader. In my opinion, Lucia was very lucky she could escape with some of the people I knew were righteous. The rest of them that I even had as friends were all sleeping with Owens behind my back so I didn't care what happened to them since they didn't bother deceiving me or hurting my feelings. They enjoyed my brother and Owens so they could also enjoy the aftermath. I just felt bad a little since I had many memories there but soon I realized t

Berrilyl's POV"Are you still in love with that idiot after everything he put you through?" William asked but I ignored him. What I needed was a way that I could make Cage forgive me for everything that I did. For every single thing that happened between us that I ruined, the people that died and leaving his face like that. There were just too many when I thought of it, and I didn't know how exactly I was going to make him forgive me. I figured out that I'd continue to try no matter what. He was the only true love I ever had."You are thinking about him. Aren't you?" William said looking at me with anger and frustration."Of course I am. Why not?""Really Sis? He punished you. Killed Owens. Turned you into a public slave, allowed people to mistreat you like you were nothing!""Yes, I know. And Owens's death was caused by Cage, and to me, it's a good thing because you knew that bastard was cheating on me, and you encouraged me to get married to him, and with what I did, I kinda deser

  • FATED TO UNWANTED MATE    Chapter 167

Cage's POVI arrived on the scene to witness something that I had not expected: William, cold and firm, was denying Berrilyl. The words coming out of his mouth were so bitter, as if he had no second thought, no remorse about what he was telling her. His eyes, which were usually so cold, were colder, harder than ever. He gazed at her as a stranger, as a failure, as something that could be discarded. There was no sympathy on his face, only complete disinterest.Berrilyl was before him, her own face twisted and pale with feeling. I could observe the shame and remorse reflected in her eyes.I remained in the entrance, observing them, trying to comprehend what I was seeing. A part of me that continued to resent her. The lies, the hypocrisy, that she had been an accomplice to so much pain. But part of me felt sympathy for her. She was also used, duped by the man she loved more than anyone. I was torn at the time, between my anger at her for what she'd done, and the sense that she was a vict

Berrilyl's POVI wasn't Cage's pack.Five years ago, I had arrived as a lost, wounded wolf with no memory, a stranger to the life they provided. I had woken up in an unfamiliar bed, the scent of herbs thick in the air, my body rattled and shuddering with my injuries. The first thing I remembered seeing was him.Cage.Even then, he had been powerful, his presence overpowering. His golden eyes had looked at me with curiosity, but there had been something more. concern, maybe, or wariness. He had saved me, but he had been wary, as if he knew that my arrival wasn't as innocent as it seemed.I had clung to the emptiness in my mind, pretending that I didn't know myself. That I wasn't the daughter of the Pierce blood. That I wasn't the princess of an unfriendly pack. That I wasn't a spy.But I had been. And Cage had been the target.I had been sent in to get inside his pack, to gain his trust, and to report back to my brother, William. Berrilyl's POVWhen I regained my consciousness I looked around and found myself in a very dark place that I could at first hardly see a thing. I tried raising my hands and felt severe pain; I was wounded in different places; it was so painful, and some were deep.Despite that I knew I had to get out of where I was, so I mustered all the courage in me to crawl out of the damn dark room and started shouting for help. My voice wasn't as loud as usual but I did my best to sound loud."Hahaha, oh my! See who's on the floor behaving like a snail. Who's in charge now? You disgusting asshole" I heard a voice say but couldn't clearly identify it."Does your head still hurt? I mean, does your body hurt? I remember throwing you in here, and it made a very loud thud," the man said again, and I realized it was none other than Cain. He had come back to take revenge on me. It became clear to me that all my crawling and shouting was useless and trying to run away from him was hardly going to be im

  • FATED TO UNWANTED MATE    Chapter 163

Cage's POV If someone had helped William escape from the hidden dungeon and find a way out of here, it either meant that he had brought someone with him who we didn't capture and was sneaking around then saw the perfect opportunity to let him go or we had a spy among us.The thought of having a spy in our midst left me dumbfounded. The spy must have known our pack so we'll that the hidden dungeon wasn't only unhidden but could be operated by whoever the spy was.Was I this careless to have never figured it out? When the spies were killed all of a sudden, I should have known there was still more to it, but I blamed Berrilyl since she always had more than one way of communicating with her brother, and I was caught up in so many problems that I forgot to investigate such a dangerous attempt further.Even if he had a someone with him who we didn't capture, there was no way the person would have got through the guards, the security system was tight which meant the only way he could escape

Cage's POVI wasn't that intoxicated. I was just tipsy. I knew where I was and what I was doing, still. But even with the alcohol in my system, I could feel my mind slipping, becoming less clear, less sharp. The edges of my world blurred, and everything felt a little lighter and easier to deal with. With that said, I didn't attack Berrilyl. She had already left, and something made me know it was not yet time to follow her. She was angry and scared. I could see that from her eyes as she turned her back on me. But she needed space, and I knew that if I followed her, things would just get worse. It was not the first time Berrilyl had left me, and I knew it would not be the last. So I simply released her.I did what I always did whenever I had to focus on other things instead. I took a hold of the mask again. It was more about obscuring my mind, and my emotions rather than hiding my face. My feelings. My thoughts. The mask gave me a feeling of control and detachment. Wearing it, I felt so

Berrilyl's POVIt was a day to my engagement already, and I had decided to carry out my plan. I had prepared for days now on how to escape, but the only way out that I could think of was to get rid of Cage. It was the last thing I could think of to save myself from getting married to him, and tonight I was going to carry out my plan. The night was calm as I walked down the halls of the mansion. There was just the soft thud of my steps against the quiet. My heart was racing, and I felt this crazy mix of fear and resolve. Was I going to do it? I stood before Cage's door.My mind was telling me that this was what I needed to do, but my body was tense and unsure. I'd never been more nervous in my life. I'd practiced this moment so many times in my mind, but now that it was here, it wasn't quite the same. Still, I could not go back. I had to move forward.I pushed the door inward slowly, as quietly as possible. The room was black except for the feeble flickering of candle flames at the ed
