Berrilyl's POV

I stared in fear as Cage started to thrash about in pain, his body jerking spastically, his eyes wide and filled with confusion and pain. I couldn't turn away, panic bubbling up inside me. My chest tightened at the thought of how I could help him. The Cage I knew was no longer there—this wasn't the strong, steady man who always took charge of situations. His whole body quivered with each slight movement, and he groaned with pain as though every breath had been hard work.

Grace was standing by him, an almost unnatural serenity in her regard. She had not attempted to help him at all; instead, she was trying to force herself on him. It was simply Grace's presence that made it worse, even chaotic. I could not seem to get out of my head this feeling of wrongness regarding everything.

"Anything could happen to him if we don't help him," I said, my voice cracking with all the panic that was racing inside my head. I felt like I was helpless, standing and watching Cage suffer.

It was her time to shine and everything had fallen. All her plans had been spoiled. Nothing could go back to the way it was. Her plan had been ruined. Everything that she had imagined would be the outcome of her successful plan was going to be the uttermost opposite. She didn't want Berrilyl to be left alone with Cage but it was obvious that she had no choice. Cage didn't want her after everything that she had gone through just to make him fall for her. He had kept rejecting her and didn't even fall for her charm. She could only wonder how hard it would be if she tried pursuing Cage with her own identity as Grace."What is so special in Berrilyl that he could even distinguish her from me and wasn't ready to Kate with me just because it isn't her? She is hot, and I'm hot, so what is the difference between us that is so great making him

Berrilyl's POVI found myself wrapped tightly in Cage's brace, his arms holding me close as he kissed my neck. He kept kissing it aggressively. The sensation made my head spin, leaving me feeling dizzy and disoriented. It was so sudden and I couldn't understand what was going on. He had pushed Grace severely when she was willing to offer herself, but here he was, gripping onto me tightly as if his life depended on it. Even though I wanted to push him away, I lacked the energy to do so. No matter how hard I tried I was overpowered. Instead, I felt a strange comfort washing over me. It was as if Cage's touch had been all I needed, the solution, a feeling that was sealed which had been awakened. I felt like I had longed for this feeling and it made my swirl. Cage's touch was somehow soothing my frayed nerves. It ignited a feeling that I never thought was in me. I was perplexed but my body was feeling crazily active. My wolf responded positively to his touch and presence, and I could m

  • FATED TO UNWANTED MATE    Chapter 147

Berrilyl's POVI stood next to Cage, looking so concerned. The air was thick with confusion, and the more I tried to make sense of everything that was happening, the less it did. Jake had just informed me that Cage was in his rut, but that made no sense to me.Cage was meant to be searching for his mate at this point, so why was he clinging to me and not… why wasn't he searching for his mate? This was meant to be the defining moment of his life—wasn't this when he was meant to be most connected to his instincts and to the person he was meant to be with?I turned to Jake, waiting for him to explain, but before I could even ask, the words just tumbled out."Why is he clinging to me, Jake?" I questioned, not even noticing how my voice trembled with bewilderment. It felt like forever before anyone responded. The room was quiet. I could sense Jake's and Miliano's eyes on me, yet not one of them said a word. They just looked at each other, their eyebrows furrowed in perplexity. They had not

  • FATED TO UNWANTED MATE    Chapter 148

Berrilyl's POV Jake and Milano exchanged a glance. It was a silent, fleeting conversation, yet I could sense the tension etched on their faces. The choice they were about to face was a difficult one. After a pause, they shifted their gaze back to me, their faces showing signs of reluctance and worry. “We’ll be close by if you need us,” Jake spoke softly, yet his words carried the heaviness of the moment. There was a distinct hint of concern in his voice as if he feared for Cage’s safety if they departed. Milano stood a little farther away, his expression tense with worry. Though he remained silent, his eyes communicated a wordless request. I could sense that he was uneasy about leaving me alone with Cage. It wasn’t a matter of trust; it was the danger of the situation. No one understood what was going on with Cage, and I could see their desire to remain. Still, they knew that staying wasn’t an option. It was obvious that if they stayed, Cage’s irritation would only deepen.I felt

Berrilyl's POVI woke up to an eerie silence, my mind was still shrouded in the remnants of my tumultuous dreams. As I sat up, my thoughts immediately drifted to Cage, and a wave of worry washed over me. I threw off the covers and did my morning routine before hastily dressing. My feet carried me to Jake's quarters with a sense of urgency."Jake, have you seen Cage?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.Jake looked up from his book and grinned at me. "Are you worried about him?" Jake asked."Answer my question. Where is he? If you don't want to tell me fine. I'd just ask another person" I let out a dismissive snort."So you are worried about him" he maliciously smiled. I glared at him, and he still didn't reply, so I decided to go away.Jake stopped me. "Wait, I didn't say I wouldn't tell you. He's still in the wilderness" "Wilderness?" I was shocked by what he said. What was he still doing there? Does that mean he's going to endure all that pain all alone, with nobody to help him

  • FATED TO UNWANTED MATE    Chapter 151

Authors POVThe kitchen itself was quiet beyond the constant rhythm of chopping vegetables and soft bubble of stew simmered on the heat. The aromas of spice hung in the air and the faint heat of the dim overhead bulb. Talia stood at the counter, sleeves rolled up over her elbows, her hair loose in a knot down the back of her neck as she worked intently on what she was preparing. She had always employed cooking as a way of escape. The chopping, stirring, and seasoning was one that drowned out the nagging thoughts that even now buzzed within her head. It was controlled, systematic—something which battled the storm of her mind. Tonight she would require that distraction above all else. After Berrilyl was in bed, Talia had been alone in the kitchen, and that was how she preferred it. She didn't want a crowd, didn't want someone to sit close enough to notice the true way she felt. The pressure that had rested upon her all day rested now upon her shoulders, but she set it aside, allowing h

Cage's POVI sat beside my bed, my fists clenched, staring down at the floor as the weight of my thoughts pressed upon my head. My thoughts replayed everything that went on last night repeatedly, refusing to leave them be.I had almost slept with Berrilyl.Realization hit me with a force that ran a chill down my spine. I had nearly lost myself, nearly descended to something that was not supposed to happen—not like that, not under those circumstances. My nature, my wants, my instincts had all turned against me.I could only blame the mating bond. But even so, something wasn't right. My Rut had been too short—only a day. That wasn't normal. I'd experienced it before, but it had always lasted longer, at least three to four days. More importantly, my Rut shouldn't have started at all. Not yet. Not now.Something was wrong.I let out a harsh breath, running my hand over my face. There was no point sitting here alone, suffocating in confusion. I needed answers.I called for Jake and Miliano

Cage's POV If someone had helped William escape from the hidden dungeon and find a way out of here, it either meant that he had brought someone with him who we didn't capture and was sneaking around then saw the perfect opportunity to let him go or we had a spy among us.The thought of having a spy in our midst left me dumbfounded. The spy must have known our pack so we'll that the hidden dungeon wasn't only unhidden but could be operated by whoever the spy was.Was I this careless to have never figured it out? When the spies were killed all of a sudden, I should have known there was still more to it, but I blamed Berrilyl since she always had more than one way of communicating with her brother, and I was caught up in so many problems that I forgot to investigate such a dangerous attempt further.Even if he had a someone with him who we didn't capture, there was no way the person would have got through the guards, the security system was tight which meant the only way he could escape

  • FATED TO UNWANTED MATE    Chapter 162

Cage's POVI wasn't that intoxicated. I was just tipsy. I knew where I was and what I was doing, still. But even with the alcohol in my system, I could feel my mind slipping, becoming less clear, less sharp. The edges of my world blurred, and everything felt a little lighter and easier to deal with. With that said, I didn't attack Berrilyl. She had already left, and something made me know it was not yet time to follow her. She was angry and scared. I could see that from her eyes as she turned her back on me. But she needed space, and I knew that if I followed her, things would just get worse. It was not the first time Berrilyl had left me, and I knew it would not be the last. So I simply released her.I did what I always did whenever I had to focus on other things instead. I took a hold of the mask again. It was more about obscuring my mind, and my emotions rather than hiding my face. My feelings. My thoughts. The mask gave me a feeling of control and detachment. Wearing it, I felt so

Berrilyl's POVIt was a day to my engagement already, and I had decided to carry out my plan. I had prepared for days now on how to escape, but the only way out that I could think of was to get rid of Cage. It was the last thing I could think of to save myself from getting married to him, and tonight I was going to carry out my plan. The night was calm as I walked down the halls of the mansion. There was just the soft thud of my steps against the quiet. My heart was racing, and I felt this crazy mix of fear and resolve. Was I going to do it? I stood before Cage's door.My mind was telling me that this was what I needed to do, but my body was tense and unsure. I'd never been more nervous in my life. I'd practiced this moment so many times in my mind, but now that it was here, it wasn't quite the same. Still, I could not go back. I had to move forward.I pushed the door inward slowly, as quietly as possible. The room was black except for the feeble flickering of candle flames at the ed

Authors POVThe Pack hall was decorated with golden chandeliers, it was warm and welcoming, it was a room full of laughter and conversation, merriment filling the air as people sipped wine. The aroma of freshly baked bread, fruits, and roasted meats wafted through the air, it was a feast to commemorate the joyful news, his second wife was pregnant.William was sitting at the head of the table, a grin was spread across his face as he watched the guests he invited. His second wife, sat at his side, she was beaming with pride as people from all over came to her. Her hands were draped over her rounded stomach, it was a sight of bliss as she enjoyed the constant congratulations from the elders, the high-ranking wolves of the pack and the guests invited. You should be so proud, Alpha William," an Elder, an old wolf with a streak of gray in his hair, said as he bowed to his alpha. Berrilyl's POVThe wind whipped against my fur as I ran through the thick woods, my paws soft whispers on the wet earth. Cain's angry bellowing echoed behind me, each sentence distorted with rage and anger."Berrilyl! You bloody traitor! You will not get away from this!"I did not slow. I did not look back. I just ran.I could still hear him running through the underbrush, but I knew he can never catch me. Not now. My wolf was faster, much faster than his. That was the one advantage I had on him. And right now, I needed every advantage I could get.A snarling growl burst through the shadows as Cain's anger reached its boiling point. "You'll regret this! I swear it!"Regret?I'd forgotten about regret years ago.I approached the estate perimeter stealthily upon my arrival, covering myself so as not to be seen before I snuck past the guards. My heart pounding, I sprinted through the halls as a wolf, sticking close to darkness. Every sensory nerve in my body was cranked up to full.I man

Chapter 158Berrilyl's POVFinding myself in a spacious room was getting kinda freaky. I turned to leave but heard the door slamming shit behind me instead. The maid had already run away. I tried to open it but it was locked. I was trapped.I couldn't make sense of elegant was going on. Who asked her to do this to me? I didn't have beef with anybody except for the envy or disgust of the maids but none of them dared to do this."Damn it" I muttered to myself. I had seen this coming but still allowed myself to fall into the trap. Was it the doing of Grace? She definitely hated me; the way she glared at me during the time of Cage's Rut showed she didn't want me at all in her life, which meant this was the perfect time for me to die. Days before the engagement, if the engagement didn't happen her chances with him would be greater. I could only hope it wasn't true. My life had never been worse and I was getting scared. Suddenly, I heard, "You are mine, Berrilyl" it was Cain's menacing vo

Berrilyl's POVI woke up to the sound of a gentle tapping and an unfamiliar voice that called my name.A maid and an unfamiliar woman stood beside my bed, their faces courteous. I rubbed my face trying to get the sleep away from my eyes and shake off the haze of slumber."Good morning, miss," the maid said, curtsying low. "This is one of the best seamstresses, and she's here to measure you" The maid introduced me to the other woman."Okay. Good morning" I said, greeting the both of them. There were clothes of my size in the palace, so I didn't know why, out of nowhere, my measurements were suddenly needed. I was about to ask them why my measurements were needed when the seamstress said,"Happy engagement ceremony ma'am. You have a great figure and would look very stunning on your special day"My mind went blank as I stared at the seamstress, her words slowly sinking into my head.Engagement ceremony? I facepalmed myself, feeling like I'd been hit by a fast-moving truck.I smiled symp

Cage's POVThe letter came out of the blue, and its contents were completely unexpected. I'd expected it to be a minor update. But the second I opened the letter, things changed. It turned out that the letter had been written by William's first wife, Lucia, and its purpose was clear: it was meant to be sent back to her Pack so they could take revenge on William on her behalf. The realization hit me hard. Lucia, once seen as a quiet, obedient wife, was now taking a stand. The assassin who had brought me the letter seemed to grasp the gravity of the situation. He began to tell me about how Lucia had been treated for some days now, how William had become increasingly cold and callous. At first, their marriage had been a respectful one, but slowly, William had begun to neglect her, paying no heed to her feelings and requirements. He had been aloof and disinterested, busy with other things, other wives, and keeping her in the background.Lucia was not a woman to be discarded. She had been

Chapter 155Cage's POVIt was night already and I couldn't sleep, I kept thinking of how I would capture William. My mind was sharp, scheming my next move. I had to get it right because I couldn't afford to mess up. William was a dangerous man, and I had to outsmart him.Suddenly, I felt a change in the air, something out of the ordinary. The room became chilly, and I could hear a soft sound—like clothing moving across the floor. I leaped up immediately, my senses heightened. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a figure coalesce.A man in a black robe appeared in the room. The robe was dark enough that it blended with the shadows, and the man was almost invisible to the light. It appeared soundlessly as if it was an extension of the night.I couldn't make out the face of the figure, but I could see his eyes. They were sharp, focused, and glimmering faintly in the faint light. Those eyes were chilly, calculating as if they were watching every move I made. Then, without uttering a word,
