Beatrice's POV

I woke up this morning to check up on Reginald because of the way things ended last night. I knew he was angry with me. Most times he has a hard time sleeping under tension so I decided to check up on him if he could catch some sleep.

To my surprise, I met an empty bed. He should have been in that bed sleeping or tossing under the covers. Any of those two but I stood there dazed for a bit before raising an alarm.

I was afraid. Had he gone during the night? Did he leave after all my pleadings? Reginald can be very stubborn especially when it comes to Avery. He could have left. I should have stayed back in his room last night to prevent this.

I prayed hard that it was all a lie because that would mean I wouldn't see my husband again for the rest of my life. There was no way he would go to Blessingstoke and come back alive.

There was little one man could do against many beasts. Didn't Reginald think this through? I hoped my thoughts weren't real. Because if they

ALPHA DEVON IS BACKAvery's POVI open my eyes, yawn and stretch. Then I get up. It's dawn already. I move closer to the dungeon window to breathe in the early morning fresh air. It's been three days now. I've been in this den for good three days. My whole body aches all over and I would be kidding myself if I don't have a bath as soon as I get out of here. That is if I' will get out of here alive. Silly me!I stink so badly. I will forever be indebted to Lord Elias for always sending meals to me every time since I was locked here. If not for him, I might have died of hunger. To think that I always took him as a jerk still punches my guts. I'm not to blame though, he always behaved like one. Always pissing me off a d pursuing me round the house. It took all my strength not to curse him one day. When I think about the stress it must take him to send me food, I wipe away all he has done. This kind act of his is enough to make me forget those ones. If I ever make it out if here, I must

THE PLANReginald's POV"Since the letter clearly states that we shouldn't do anything, I guess we have to wait then. Maybe they will not hurt her if we don't make a move" King Levi says to Beatrice's answer. She turns to look at me where my thoughts are going crazy. The thought of leaving my daughter with those beasts for one more second peeves me to the core. The thought that she must have been waiting for me to come save her while I'm here just sitting unable to do nothing makes me almost puke.I am helpless in this. How did I get my daughter into this mess? How will i bring her out? "I will advise no one makes a move for the time being. I will write a letter back to them to seek a truce. That would solve all this in a more efficient way. The men aren't ready for battle and your daughter's life is at stake if we gamble on this" King Levi completes as if he can read meaning to my thoughts. If Beatrice wasn't standing before me, I would have taken my leave and went to Blessingstoke

WAHIKA SAVES MENicholas's POVI look around me well to take in my surroundings. Can I see a way out of this place? It looks like a puzzle with no plausible way out. When I realize that this is a dead end, I alight from my horse and roam around to see if I can find my way out of this mess I'm stuck in. How could I have been so stupid to pass a path I didn't know for my first time? This is what I get for doing such.It sucks to just be in a position without any progress. After a few minutes, nothing positive comes up."Shit Nicholas! Why do you always put yourself in trouble? See what you've caused. How will you solve this now?" I hiss. Arion senses my irritated mood and neighs as if to say "You must find us a way to get out of this muck you led us into" I look back and smile reassuringly at him. That should calm his nerves for a while. I rove eyes at the sights to see if I can identify anything that will lead me home. Hoots wouldn't be able to find me here because this is not the

WHERE IS THAT BETRAYER!?Alpha Devon's POVIt's been a few weeks away from home. Sometimes I go on hunting expedition with my some of the chiefs of Blessingstoke and my man.We do this annually to get away from life at Blessingstoke and to charge ourselves. I should have come home next week because that was the agreement with my family. However, one of my men in the castle sent a letter to me. Because we were deep on the forest, it took a long time for it to get to me."My Lord, something urgent has happened. Sir Nicholas apprehended a betrayer yesterday and she is in the dungeon right now. I think she is from Arbedour park. Please hurry back to give her a sentence before she escapes"When I read the what he wrote I was shocked to my bone. A betrayer in the castle? How did she get to close to us all without us knowing a thing about her? Who interviewed her? It was dated two days ago so I gathered my men and informed them of an unexpected thing that had come up at home. It took me a l

WHAT IS FATHER UP TO?Nicholas's POVI hurt down the path leading to Wahika's cave. So many emotions whirling through my mind as I headed towards the witch's cave "Hey Wahika, you said you were going to lead Hoots back home" I'm about to remind her when I remember that she said no disturbance in clear words. It was a bad step on my part to have forgotten a very important detail which shouldn't skip my mind.I shut up my mouth and follow her in silence. If father is truly back like she said, I'm sure someone informed him of what's going on in the palace. But who? Who is feeding father all these information?Father does not just leave the hunting expedition just like that. It's either about Avery or something more crucial than that or it's even the two.We get to Wahika's cave and she goes in to pick her shawl. There is no reason for me to enter since we are going to the palace together. Moreover, there is a particular smell of incense that welcomes me at the entrance. It chokes me and

MEMORIESWahika's POVI was preparing to go to the palace because I had received a signal that Alpha Devon was back. It is my duty to go greet him in the palace whenever he comes home. However, after communing with the gods, i was alerted in my spirit that someone needed my help. I initially wanted to lure the persom back to wherever the person got lost. The gods ordered me to go check on the person myself and they also gave me an instruction. I never knew that Nicholas had captured a prisoner. It was all over the village but i didn't really rake cognizance of it. I also didn't know that it was a woman. I had thought that the betrayer was a man. I had also even expected us to burn the person a stake after two days because that was the rule.Since I didn't live in the village, i couldn't know that she wss a woman. If i lived there I would have known immediately, since the villagers always have one gossip or the order to trade with their mouths.Years of living on the mountain has mad

SHE HAD ESCAPED!Wahika's POVLong before, the people of Blessingstoke accepted me, long before i learnt how to use my talent so well, i wasn't always like this.Infact i was much more extroverted. I had friends and people around me in Albany. However something happened. Something unexpected had happened. Each time i think back to it, it must have been the gods who directed me here for the sole purpose of fulfilling my duties and healing.Sometimes, i thought about Albany. I reminisced on the events that happened to me. What if it hadn't happened? Would i be here in Blessingstoke? I have been here for over fifteen years now. Each spring, i mark the date on my wall. The day i got disgraced by a little mistake of trust. Humans could be callous. The selfish nature of humans is a destructive one. Natasha, my childhood friend whom i loved abd trusted like ny true sister betrayed me. Maybe if i had been more calculating like her or if I didn't really trust her that much, all these wouldn

HE'S NOT HEREHoots POVI turn on the right path. We do not make use of the left path because of the dangers ahead. With my speed I should meet him on the way.I think back to when i first got here. Some of us here at Blessingstoke have one story or the other to tell. Some were saved, somr were brought here, some came here on their own.It wasn't easy for the people in the palace to trust me at first. The people of Blessingstoke had been attacked in time past so they were always weary of new people among them. The guards in the castle were all acting strange. After a month, they accepted me as someone who had come to stay.It didn't take them long because cold Nicholas was behaving normal now. He smiled at everyone one and did well. However these past few years hsve been lonely for me.Having been on the run almost all my life,i had no place to call home. This place has become my home,my shelter. I was getting older with each passing year.I had given up on ever getting married or lik

EPILOGUE --- AGAIN AND AGAINIt was a whole battle against a male confessor and his clan. They are all bent to his command and are willing to sacrifice themselves for the male confessor. With his mother forcefully beside him, ruling multiple large kingdoms. When he was only but twenty, Dylan decided to kill him, but he was caught. THE LITTLE BOY The nightcrawlers surrounded the eldest of the nightcrawlers inside their cave. They waited for him to speak up because they are all aware that he would have known about what is going on currently in the forest and with the confessors. "You all expect me to say something about what is going on currently in the confessor's city?" The nightcrawler asked. They all shook their heads and went their way. Deep down they were all scared. What really happened during those times? The nightcrawler sighed and glared at one who didn't want to leave. "What are you waiting for young one?" He didn't speak, yet he continued staring at the nightcrawler. He sniffed the air and at once the old nightcrawler knew something was disturbing him. "Talk young one. I won't sacrifice you." He assured. "The baby ---" "I know. I'm also thinking about what to do here. The baby must not live." "The baby is hours old now. Nothing can kill him as we speak. What about that sword, Elder Dylan?" It ha

HE IS REBORN."We will regret this. It is not about the question if we would. We didn't - No - You should have listened when I said we should go forward and search for her." Theresa, one of the midwives - also one of the greatest confessors that ever lived lamented. She sat down on the chair as she entered the room and others followed behind. "I know it is risky." The eldest of the midwives said and continued. "But, we all know that it is just written in the books and we have not seen for ourselves what great calamity would befall us. Maybe the people who came together to write this book see how powerful he is and would not want anyone to wield that kind of power again. Thus, tagging him bad from birth.""I would not say otherwise, but it is written for a reason. If it was never a threat to us all, I don't think they would have agreed to write the book.""Then they should have explained the consequences of leaving that child alive. No stories, only warnings. THE BIRTH SYNDROMEIt feels a lot weird when you know you have a super power inside of you. Humans and supernatural beings bend to your will, and there is absolutely nothing they can do about it. It is incredible, but it comes with a disadvantage."Erhmm, Nicholas, can you help me with the cup of water on the table please?" Avery asked."I'm very busy currently, there are a lot of letters I need to write back to Blessingstoke and —" a stolen glare toward Avery kept him mute halfway. "Don't you dare use that on me, Avery." Nicholas stood slowly.Avery laughed and kept on laughing. "I'm not using it on you. See my baby bump, I don't want to move right now." She said amidst laughing.Avery is eight months pregnant. The midwives told her to get into care immediately, but she was adamant. When anyone tries to force her to leave for the care room, she would try to use her powers on them. Thus, they all backed off at one point in time. They heard a knock on the door. Nicholas was holding the

BETRAYAL AND LOYALTY"We are home!" Philippa, a young lady about Avery's height and age yelled as she entered the castle. Beatrice wouldn't believe her eyes - she shouldn't be back now - oh, she missed Avery."Philippa?" Beatrice called out her daughter. They embraced each other as tightly as they could."Mother." She smiled, closing her eyes to feel the moment she had craved for. There was an elderly woman beside Philippa. A few months ago, she was forced to follow Philippa to an unknown town And they spent most of the year there. "Mrs Stewart, welcome back." Beatrice greeted her.Amazed as she should be. "Is this the king's sister?" She asked."Yes, I am," Beatrice replied with a grin."The real you wouldn't have greeted me. It is weird." She said what was on her mind and didn't keep anything to herself."People change." Reginald walked majestically toward Mrs Stewart and gave her a warm hug."Reginald." She called him."I have missed how you call my name." Reginald smiled. "Avery w

THE EVIDENCE"Should we ask her about it?" Nicholas bent toward Avery. Avery glared at Beatrice."No, don't. Let's wait till after the wine and dine. Don't spoil the fun!" Avery yelled beneath her voice."Why did you have to yell?" Nicholas scowled."I didn't. I just have to maintain a voice you can hear with the high pitch noise in this tavern.""No one can hold his liquor better than me." A man with a gold beard and a loud voice bluffed after finishing a bowl of liquor."Did he really finish that?" Nicholas asked Avery."We are both watching Nicholas. Don't ask me questions like that. I'm still amazed." Avery glared at the dwarf."Let me prove it to you." Danika's solemn voice filled the room. Her actions brought more evidence to Nicholas. The eldest prince of the moonstone clan was the strongest liquor drinker in the whole of Arbedour until Danika challenged him and she won. Maybe that sums up the reason Elias hated Danika up till now."She behaves exactly like Danika." Nicholas la

A VISIT TO HELL"Who is next!?" Young Danika screamed from the arena. Nicholas was proud of his best friend who hasn't turned but defeated those that have with ease. No one like her because of this and they are looking for a person that can shut her mouth - she hasn't stopped yelling and no one was cheering - Nicholas would have, but as the son of the alpha, he is expected not to take sides."I said who is next!!?" Danika bluffed until a huge man came on stage. This was not supposed to be so. He shouldn't be there at the moment. He was not expected to fight at all, but people wanted her to lose. Nicholas complained to Devon, but he didn't listen."Father, this is murderer. She hasn't shifted yet and she will fight with Kakuna? Even I can't take him on without getting serious injuries." Nicholas complained."No, this would be total fun. Don't you believe in your best friend?" He replied with a grin. YOU REMIND ME OF THE SCARSAnother beautiful night and the two lovebirds avoided each other as obviously as possible. Nicholas was glued to Reginald throughout after the king dismissed them from his presence and Avery stayed with Danika and Beatrice. The men sat with the butcher who was almost done with the kill and talked about sports and the following day which was hunting.Nicholas was lost in their conversation about sports, but it is entirely different from what he knew back at home. Reginald showed the scar he got from racing on a wild horse and the butcher joked about the fact that he is always butchering or arranging the meat into a sack. Tables turned and it was Nicholas' turn."What about you?" Reginald tilted his head sideway. "Have you gotten any injury or scars?" He asked before Nicholas could reply. "I know you guys heal or you don't?""Too many questions." Nicholas scoffed. "Well, I have a scar, but it is a long story. It is from the sports, but not actually from playin
