Kyra's pov

I fumed with anger as I paced the four corners of the room Beta Scott had me locked up in. I looked at the food on the table I had left untouched.

This was not the plan. He told me he was bringing me to meet the Alpha but instead, he is giving my hands in marriage to Davis who seems to be displeased with it.

The only joy about this was that I could see the miserable look on Jessica's face and I can't lie that I didn't enjoy it. Even if it was for a little bit.

And again, what was that feeling?

I had seen Beta Scott's face glowed giving me a vibe that he was somehow connected to this strange feeling I had that night when I went to see my mother.

Couldn't be that?

The door opened disrupting my thoughts. " What is this? Why haven't you touched your food?" Beta Scott asked staring at him.

" Am why should I? You said you were bringing me to him. That was the deal. Why would you give me away to a man who doesn't love me?"

Beta Scott sat down and smiled, " You see

Beta Scott's POV I was just returning from my daily training. I needed to be in shape and keep up the momentum. I felt a bit disconnected from her wolf. Yes! Kyra and our wolves were connected, but I guessed she knew that already. I could sense when her wolf was happy, sad, or even in danger. But the vibe that she was giving after some time was quite alarming. I knew something was going on, and I needed to be there. I need to know what is happening. I sprinted across the market square, making a bit of commotion, and then, when I saw I was slow due to my human form, I slowly changed into my wolf. Many people at the market square were surprised, and they slowly began to ask questions. The hidden truth about the murder of their beloved Alpha would soon be in the open, and when it does, everyone that had a hand in his death would be out to justice, but first, I need to find Kyra, who was at the top of the chessboard. I don't know why the Alpha had picked her, changing the plan a

  • FATED MATE    Chapter thirty eight

Calen's POV I had always tried to look for the perfect moment: the opportunity to corner not only Davis but also Alpha Marius, Beta Zakaira, and of course Jessica, who was now a new chess piece on the board. I haven't expected her to be that cunning and power-driven. My father was killed when I was a boy. I could remember it like yesterday. The slashing and the horror sight were etched in my memory forever. My father, the former Alpha, had been murdered by the very people he trusted. Alpha Marius, Beta Zakaira, and their loyal followers had conspired against him, and I had been left alone, adrift in a world that seemed determined to destroy me. It was a night I could never forget. I remember my father telling his Luna to announce me as the next ruling Alpha right when I was coming of age. But the day never came. "Don't come out, no matter what." I remember my father saying that to my face. "You hear me!" He shouted, staring at my blue eyes. I could only sob; tears welled in my f

Kyra's pov I tried to hide but then I stuck my leg on a sharp twig that made me want to scream. "Did you hear that?" Alpha Marius, said slowly as they stopped halfway. "Hear what?" Beta Zakaira said immediately, stopping abruptly. "Are you sure someone didn't follow you?" Alpha Marius asked, trying to sniff out who the person might be. I covered my hand with my mouth, trying to hold the pain for as long as I can. I watched the blood trickle down from my flesh, falling over the green leaf right in front of me. "Do you think I am daft? Why would I bring anyone with me? I made sure no one saw me when I was coming." Beta Zakaira replied. "So what about killing the Beta?" Alpha Marius advised as he kept on walking. I needed to find out what the plan was. I looked at my injured feet and back at the two men who were now walking away from where I had hidden myself. "Are you sure it is safe?" Beta Zakaira asked "Wait? What did you do to yourself?" Alpha Marius asked "What do

Kyra’s POVThe thick scent of burning herbs filled my lungs, making me cough. My eyelids felt heavy as I struggled to open them. The dim light blurred my vision, and when I tried to focus on the figure before me, all I could see was his back.Claw marks marred his bare skin, deep and raw. His clothes hung in tattered rags, likely shredded during his transformation. The scent of smoke thickened, making my head swim. Darkness pulled me under again.[A Few Moments Later]The last thing I remembered was Beta Zakaira’s wolf hovering over me. Then, suddenly, my eyes snapped open.I blinked, trying to adjust to the dim surroundings. Two figures stood in front of me, their backs turned. My body ached, and when I shifted, a sharp pain shot through my ankles. I looked down and saw my feet carefully bound. My stomach twisted—who had done this?A rough cough escaped my throat, and both men turned. Their eyes glowed an eerie shade of blue.I froze.Beta Scott. And the other man...Something about

Davis’ POV"What are you going to do now? It’s not like you have any other options."Marcus’ voice grated against my nerves, but I refused to show weakness."I do," I muttered, gripping the edge of my desk. "We can go to war for all I care. My father was murdered right here in this kingdom, and no one is doing a damn thing about it. And to think that Alpha Marius is the one they all want to bow to—it’s disheartening."Marcus scoffed. "You said Kyra did it. She was shipped off to the mines, and you did nothing. Your mate—do you really want to tell me you don’t know how she doted on you? And yet, you picked Jessica over her."His words stung, but I wasn’t about to let him talk down to me."Kyra is not the woman for me," I said coldly. "I don’t like the way she follows me around like some lost puppy."Marcus’ piercing gaze bore into me. "Is that really why you hate her? Or is there something you’re not telling me?"I clenched my jaw. "I don’t know, and stop asking me that. If you care so

Kyra's povI turned to see the woman who took everything from me.My lifeMy motherAnd now that I am back with a new face or let say a magical face, I won't allow her to get things done her way anymore. Thanks to Calen, I had been given a new identity.I might not understand why he is doing it but I am going to make all of them pay."What are you accusing my father of?" Jessica's voice boomed right behind us."He tried to have me killed!" I snapped at Jessica."And do you have proof? I wonder why Alpha Davis hasn't had you sent out of here. You came to disrupt my mating ceremony, and now you are accusing my father wrongly. Do you have any proof?" Jessica looked at me.I wanted to hurt her so badly. I felt my stomach churn just by looking at her long hair. I remember the day she killed my mother. How I cried my eyes out now.Calen was there; he was it all. "Someone did see him." I said it without blinking twice. The hall immediately became silent, like Davis had been waiting to hear m

  • FATED MATE    Chapter forty three

Kyra's POV Maybe this is what I want. The quiet environment, soft grass, and the gentle chirp of the crickets. The place, I was not familiar with it. It was the side of the pack kingdom I had never been in. I looked at Calen, and I could see that sad countenance on him. I wonder where he was taking me too. I heard a gentle creak right behind us, and I stopped to look back. "Are you alright?" Calen asked, seeing that I was tense. "I think I heard something." I replied. Calem took the light he asked for and flashed it towards the dark spot. "You see, no one is on our tail." He said, looking at my disturbed face. "You need to ease up, Kyra. Not everyone is after you here. Besides, I don't think anyone knows except just us and, of course, Beta Scott." Calen said and kept walking. I rushed to his hand and quickly held his hand. "So where are we going?" I asked, trying to catch a glimpse of his face that was hiding in the shadow. "You visit the most precious people who are

Kyra's POV I know I was not supposed to do this, but I couldn't help myself. I was lost in my own motions that I didn't know when I drew him closer. I could feel his muscular hands around my waist. His piercing blue eyes locked on mine. In that moment, he said slowly. I could hear the rustle of the wind against the leaves as his words were clearer. "I would never trade you for anything in this world because you are worth more than any crown or jewels." Calen said with his blue eyes dazzling under the moonlight. His lips gently brushed slightly against mine. He could see the way I pulled back. "Do you want to stop?" He asked slowly, sensing that maybe I was not ready. "No." I exhale sharply. "I...wasn't ready." I said, feeling shy. "Why don't we take this slow? I want you as much as you want me, but I think we need to take things slow." Calen said, looking at me. I wanted to, but Raven wouldn't. She had been dying to have this moment, and I knew I was not going t

  • FATED MATE    Chapter fifty four

Calen’s POV My blood ran cold. Alpha Davis stood before me, his sharp gaze assessing me, suspicion flickering in his eyes. He could sense something—the power of a true Alpha—but he wasn’t certain. Not yet. Many werewolves from strong lineages possessed an extra aura, a lingering dominance that set them apart. But my power was different. It was undeniable, and Davis was trying to decide whether his instincts were betraying him. His gaze bore into me. “Why are you here?” he asked, his tone measured. Dire growled in my head. “What does he mean by that? This is our mate!” I hesitated, searching for an answer that wouldn’t raise suspicion. I wasn’t afraid of him, but I needed a convincing excuse. Before I could respond, Beta Scott stepped forward. “I sent for one of your guards, and he was the one who came running.” Davis arched a brow, his smirk widening. “Why? You don’t want me here? I remember you practically begging me to marry her, and now that I’ve come to see my future Luna

Calen’s POVI couldn’t stop thinking about her.No matter how hard I tried to focus on my duties, Kyra’s face—her voice, her scent—haunted my every thought. I needed to see her, even if just for a moment. I needed to tell her that everything would be okay.Without hesitation, I grabbed my things and raced toward the penthouse where Beta Scott was staying. But walking felt unbearably slow.So I shifted.Dire welcomed the transformation with exhilaration, stretching his powerful limbs as we surged forward, covering ground effortlessly.“Where is she?” I demanded the moment I reached the house, shifting back into my human form.Beta Scott barely glanced up from his book. “She’s getting ready. Is something wrong?”“No.” I exhaled. “I just need to see her before she walks into the palace.”Scott studied me for a moment, then nodded. “I’ll be here if you need anything.”I had already given strict instructions to the servants dressing Kyra.“Make sure she looks like a queen—someone they won’

Kyra’s POV Caelan’s words lingered in my heart, their weight pressing against my chest. I couldn’t shake the memory of my mother in my dream. She had been trying to tell me something—something important. But before she could, I woke up. Was this what she had been trying to warn me about? Lost in thought, I barely noticed the soft creak of the door until a familiar voice pulled me back to reality. “Are you ready?” The feminine voice made me turn around sharply. My eyes widened in disbelief. “Alessia?” She stood there, a small smile on her lips. Before I knew it, my feet carried me toward her, and I wrapped my arms around her in a tight embrace. “I thought you were…” “Dead?” Alessia finished for me, amusement flickering in her eyes. I pulled back, searching her face, as if I needed proof that she was real. “After we were taken, Beta Scott wouldn’t tell me anything. I was terrified. I should have tried harder to find you.” “You have nothing to be sorry for.” Alessia shook her

Calen’s POV“Beta Scott. We need to talk. Now.”I didn’t wait for a response. Leaving my post at the throne room doors, I moved swiftly through the dimly lit corridors of the packhouse, my mind racing. Jessica was getting too close. If she managed to convince Davis of the truth, everything I’d worked for would be ruined.I found Scott at the training grounds, watching a group of warriors spar. His sharp blue eyes met mine as I approached, and with a slight nod, he dismissed the men.“What is it?” he asked, crossing his arms.“She knows.”Scott raised an eyebrow. “Jessica?”I nodded. “She’s convinced the woman in the palace is Kyra. She won’t let this go. If she proves it, we’re finished.”Scott exhaled, rubbing his jaw. “That’s a problem.”“No,” I said, my voice low. “It’s an opportunity.”His gaze sharpened. “I’m listening.”“We need to make them believe Kyra is dead. If there’s no Kyra left to find, Jessica has nothing to fight for. We erase every trace of her from this kingdom.”A

His eyes flickered with surprise—he hadn’t expected me.Good.I ignored the tense atmosphere between him, my father, and Alpha Marius. I didn’t care what they were discussing. All that mattered was stopping this farce before it went any further."What is it, Jessica?" Davis asked, his voice carrying a hint of irritation. I rememberee the slap I had dealt to his face on the mating ceremony and I knew I deserved every bit of cold attide Alpha Davis was throwing towards me. I took a step forward, my eyes never leaving his. "Did you know that woman has a lover in this kingdom?"Silence.Davis arched a brow, but I caught the way his jaw tensed. That was all I needed. I had planted the seed."And how exactly do you know that?" His tone was skeptical, but the smirk on his lips was faint—forced."Are you jealous, Jessica? Because jealousy doesn

Davis’s POV"Is it true?" My voice echoed through the grand hall as I fixed my gaze on Beta Zakaira and Alpha Marius.Neither of them flinched, but I could feel the weight of my question settling between us."Is it true that you tried to have her killed?" I asked again, my patience hanging by a thread.Beta Zakaira took a cautious step forward. "Alpha Davis, you need to understand—we are trying to protect you.""Protect me?" I let out a sharp laugh, stepping down from my throne. "Or protect your own interests?" I turned to Zakaira, my eyes narrowing. "Where were you when I called for you earlier? I wondered where you'd run off to."He didn’t answer. My gaze shifted to Alpha Marius, who stood motionless, unbothered by my accusations."And you," I continued, my voice lowering. "What did you do when my father was killed? Or when the pack doctor was murdered?" My wolf growled within me, clawing for control. "Nothing. You did nothing. And now, suddenly, you're concerned about who I marry?

Anger flashed in her eyes, and in that moment, I felt the rage of her wolf rising to the surface.A sharp crack echoed through the night as her bones shifted. A flicker of movement caught my eye, but when I focused, the darkness swallowed whatever had been there. My fingers tightened around Calen’s arm."Are you alright?" he asked, his sharp eyes scanning my face."I thought I heard something… Are you sure this place is safe?"A small chuckle rumbled in his chest. "Oh, Kyra. How many times do I have to tell you? No one knows about this place. I made sure of it."His voice was steady, but mine wasn't. "Still, I—""Kyra," he cut in, his tone gentler this time. "This is where I buried my parents. They were never given a proper burial after their deaths. I had to do it myself."I studied his face, the sorrow hidden behind his strength. He had managed to bury his parents right under the nose of Davis’s father, a feat I couldn’t begin to imagine. He took a step back, his expression sharpening. "Run
