The cracks in the Armor

CHAPTER ELEVEN

Mr Orion's eyes spilled over, tears streaming down his face.

"The rogue, it tore her apart, broke her. She was bleeding, Selene. Bleeding so badly. And I... I was too scared, too weak and my wolf..... I couldn't even save her."

Mr Orion's voice cracked as he continued, "She died right in my hands, Selene. I felt her life force slipping away, a surge of power leaving her body as she took her last breath. I was too young to understand what was happening, but I knew it was the end. I felt it, the moment her soul left her body."

He paused, his eyes frozen on a distant memory, his voice was barely audible, and his body was shaking with sobs.

"I've lived with that guilt ever since, Selene. The guilt of not being able to save my mother. And I won't let it happen again. I won't lose you too."

"I was just a child. My mother, she... she was taken from me. Killed by the same creatures that I'm trying to protect you from."
