Chapter 2

Author: Small stone
I didn’t dislike Daisy simply because she was Xander’s former girlfriend. My animosity stemmed from her dishonesty—her compulsive lying.

A year ago, during a critical rescue mission, Xander suffered a devastating injury. The shamans declared it irreversible: his wolf power crippled beyond natural healing. Their only suggestion, a faint hope, was Moonlight Water, a legendary elixir whispered about in ancient tales.

Everyone gave up on him. They deemed him a lost cause.

Everyone… except me.

I had fought beside Xander through countless battles. I understood the profound loss of his wolf, the slow erosion of his purpose.

So, the moment I heard whispers of Moonlight Water appearing in the Blood Mist Forest, a forbidden territory rife with danger, I didn’t hesitate. I ventured in alone.

The Blood Mist Forest was a haven for the worst of our kind—rogue wolves exiled for unspeakable crimes. Survival there demanded relentless combat.

And I did fight. For three relentless months, I battled day and night, without respite. I bled, broke bones, and faced death more times than I could count. But in the end, I emerged victorious, clutching the Moonlight Water in my hand.

My injuries were so severe that I spent half a month under the shamans’ care, simply to regain my footing. But when I returned to Xander, ready to offer him the life I had nearly sacrificed mine for—everyone claimed Daisy was his savior.

Why?

Because when Xander awoke, the first face he saw was Daisy’s. And she was the one who held the Moonlight Water to his lips.

I was furious. Daisy had abandoned him the moment he was injured, seeking the protection of more powerful wolves. She had no part in the battle, no scars to show. She had done nothing—yet, she reaped all the glory.

I tried to confront her, begged her to tell the truth.

But she merely smiled, smug and defiant.

“Seraphina,” she said sweetly, “you may be Xander’s Soul Mate, but you can’t force me to lie.”

I trembled with rage. I raised my wolfwhip—not to harm her, but to intimidate her.

But she deliberately threw herself into it.

She stumbled forward, allowing the whip to lash across her shoulder. Blood seeped through her fingers as she clutched her wound, her eyes wide with feigned hurt.

“Seraphina,” she gasped, “I know you resent me for being with Xander before, but you can’t bully me just because you have a transformation form and I’m only an Omega.”

She tilted her head, her eyes shimmering with false innocence.

“Besides… you don’t even have an Inner Wolf. So how could you have possibly gotten the Moonlight Water?”

I gritted my teeth. “Liars like you don’t deserve to stand by his side.”

I pulled back my sleeves, revealing the scars that crisscrossed my arms—proof of the battles I had endured, of the lengths I had gone to for him.

But she simply pretended to stagger, clutching her shoulder like a martyr.

“That painful chapter… I don’t want to relive it. As long as Xander gets better, I’d give anything.”

How could she steal my sacrifice and portray herself as the victim?

I raised my whip again. “Daisy, you should be banished from the Silver Moon Pack!”

But then… a familiar, heart-wrenching scent filled the air.

Xander.

He stepped between us, shielding her with a dark look on his face.

“Seraphina,” he said coldly. “Please leave.”

I froze.

All around me, people rushed to Daisy’s side, comforting her, supporting her, believing her.

And Xander… he held her hand and promised to protect her.

Something inside me snapped.

“I can’t believe how blind you are, Xander!” I screamed. “You want to spend the rest of your life with a lie? Fine. I’m done loving you!”

Without hesitation, he severed our link.

And then he declared that if I didn’t apologize to Daisy, he would never forgive me.

That was the last time we spoke.

We hadn’t spoken in six months.

I didn’t even sense it when Daisy became pregnant with his pup.

“When are you planning to reject Seraphina and make your bond with Daisy official?” Hudson’s voice cut through the air, dragging me from my memories.

Suddenly, I regretted coming at all. No one here wanted me.

“Is this really the time to talk about that?” Xander snapped coldly. The rest of the team fell silent, straightening in fear.

“The captain’s right. Saving Daisy comes first,” someone muttered.

“I matter too!” I shouted at Xander.

But he didn’t hear me.

Ten minutes later, Xander and I arrived at the location where Daisy was supposedly trapped. But the moment I saw the scene, I froze.Across the vast, icy expanse of the glacier, hundreds of faint green lights suddenly flared to life—tiny, glowing orbs suspended in the night. Every wolf in the rescue unit had silently taken their places in a perfect circle, each holding luminous fluorite stones in their mouths. They floated in the darkness like fallen stars. At the center of it all stood Daisy. She wore a crown of glowing fluorite on her head, and in her hands, she held a ring forged from a meteorite, shimmering under the soft moonlight. Shock? Or… undeniable delight?“Xander,” Daisy whispered, throwing her arms around him

In a daze, I seemed to hear Xander’s furious voice echoing in the wind.“Do you even realize the patrol team reported they lost contact with their members? They needed backup, now! We were supposed to deploy a rescue team!”“Xander,” Hudson replied stiffly, “don’t act like the squad can’t function without you. I already reassigned the mission—rescue’s on its way. We didn’t delay anything.”“There’s always time to save someone later,” another voice chimed in. “Right now, you should be focused on kissing your mate.”My soul drifted, weightless, back to Xander’s side.I hovered in the air, invisible, watching everything unfold.Xander and Hudson were locked in a heated argument. When Xander learned that only a rookie had been sent to handle the rescue, his expression darkened. Rage rippled through him like a storm.“Since when do we send new recruits on solo rescue missions?” he growled. “Hudson, you just wasted the golden window for a life-or-death operation!”Hudson looked guilty. “I… I

“Seraphina?”At the sound of that name, both Xander and Hudson froze. They exchanged a look, quickly masking their expressions.“It can’t be her,” Hudson said with a shrug. “She’s the strongest warrior in the pack. A glacier’s nothing for someone like her.”“But if someone from the patrol went missing out there, she’d definitely go,” he added. “She’s the team captain. If she’s there, the mission will go smoother.”Xander nodded silently.Time was tight. They didn’t return to HQ but went straight into the glacier. The blizzard howled like a beast gone mad, obscuring their faces from my sight. All I could hear was Hudson’s urgent voice cutting through the storm.“Xander, what are you thinking? Seraphina was born with an awakened Inner Wolf. Her combat strength is equal to yours! How could she be trapped by something as simple as a glacier?”“If it really were her, wouldn’t she have contacted your Inner Wolf directly? You didn’t receive anything, did you? That means it can’t be her.”Hudson’s words struck Xander like lightning. He fell silent for a moment, then slowly regained his composure. He stood up, dusting the snow from his fur, and forced a faint smile toward the two little pups who stood beside him, anxious and confused.“The Seraphina I know,” he said, his voice low but steady, “is the strongest warrior of our kind. The savage wind howled once more, tearing across the ice that pinned down her body. It slipped between the wolves’ fur like a thousand frozen needles, making even the strongest of them tremble. Xander could no longer control the chaos of his wolf energy—it tore through him until he collapsed into his human form, his knees slamming into the snow. He lunged forward, shoving Hudson to the ground with brute force.“Don’t touch her.”His eyes were blood-red, fixed on Hudson’s throat like a predator scenting weakness.
