Who was that?

Celine’s pov

It was already thirty minutes past the normal close of school. I knew too well not to keep Henry waiting, so I briefly closed the files and adjourned all unresolved issues to the next working day. I needed to go pick up my child. Over time, I had developed a routine of dropping him off and picking him up from school myself. I could easily hire the services of countless staff if I chose to, but I wouldn’t leave my son in the care of another when I was around and in good health.

Henry was worth more to me than anything I had ever acquired, and so he was always my top priority. I hired a nanny and a cook just to please Evelyn, but their duties were strictly limited to my orders.

“What’s going on there?” I asked Levi, who was also stunned by the crowd of people gathered in the middle of the road just after the traffic light. It was a wrong place for such a crowd, unless something bad had happened. I felt the urge to instruct Levi to drive around the crowd and he

Her PlansI mean, how was I to come up with the story that his father was alive and living in New York? A city I hated because it carried nostalgic feelings and scars. Moreover, I wouldn’t start telling him how his father treated me and the resentment I harbored towards him. That would only be catastrophic for his tender heart, and I won’t let that happen. My heart never stopped pounding, thousands of thoughts clouding my reasoning. I wasn’t ready to drag my son into this fight. He was out of it and should remain so. However, I can’t deny the fact that he is still his blood. Harry was still his father. Crouching to meet his level, I planted a loving kiss on his forehead.“Cutie, your dad is somewhere very far away from this earth, but he loves you very much,” I said, a slight grin on my face.I never knew how those words were composed so quickly, but deep down, I was pricked for lying to him. He was far too tender to absorb the truth that his father didn’t care about him or value his

Her return“Mum, who were you yelling at? Did Auntie Evelyn wrong you?” His calm voice pulled me out of my thoughts, and I almost had a heart attack. I quickly turned to him, a grin on my face. “No, cutie, I wasn’t shouting at Auntie. We were just discussing something important,” I assured him.“Is that my little pumpkin over there? Please come over, Auntie wants to see you.”Henry chuckled as he went to pick up the iPad I had dropped on the bed, a smile spreading across his face as he greeted her.“Hello, Auntie, I’m glad you called. Mummy said something cool about my dad,” he smiled, tilting his head towards me, as if seeking my approval.I giggled back at him, his dimples on full display as he smiled, then tilted his head back to Evelyn, who was patiently waiting in anticipation for what he had to say.“Mum said Uncle Levi could be my dad. Isn’t that cool?”“Of course, little pumpkin! Do you like the idea?”“Yes, Auntie! Uncle Levi is such a handsome man and would be perfect for

Harry’s POV“Leave me alone! I don't ever want to see you again in my entire life. You're nothing but an asshole,” she snapped, rolling her eyes at me derisively. Never in my life have I felt this broken as I marched up to her, my eyes darkened with pain and regret.“I’m sorry, I sincerely apologise for the pains I’ve caused you all these years. Can’t you just forgive me?” I begged, tears forming at the corners of my eyes. I haven’t been in such a tight situation for a long time, and I didn’t even know how I felt. All I needed was her forgiveness. Grasping her arms, I crouched low, my knees hitting the floor.“What exactly do you want me to forgive? Where do I even begin to count?” Her tone dripped with intense pain, and I could feel how betrayed she was, which only made me long for her forgiveness even more. I wasn’t giving up on her, my heart shredding into pieces.“I’m sorry. I’m sorry a million times and still counting,” I said, my knees still on the floor, my heart in pain. Letti

What?“I mean, how could you, Mum? How could you hide something as delicate and derogatory as this from me, after all these years?” I yelled, my frustration piqued, trying so hard to remain poised. Glaring at the scenario, which was tearing my heart apart, was enough to drive me insane. The throbbing sensation in my head wouldn’t let me breathe for a single second, never giving me a moment's rest. It pounded like marathon runners’ feet. The next thing I remember was crashing onto the sofa behind me, my vision slightly blurry. Having been locked up for three days without food or water, except for some drinks, it was finally taking its toll on me.“Son, can you please calm down and tell me exactly what the issue is? I’m just stuck in between. I have no clue where you’re going with this,” she exclaimed, her voice masked in uncertainty. How could she not know what I was talking about? She should know, right? Or was she pretending? Could she truly be unaware of what I was saying? That’s im

UncertaintyJack's POV“How could he think of hurting them?” I snapped, almost yelling, my tone quivering as Sam delivered the news. I couldn't believe it had taken this long for him to uncover the truth, and the fact that Lily thought she could play the game better than me never ceased to amaze me, but I chose to remain poised. Getting over Emma and staying away for such a long time only gave her the guts and wings to fly.“Prepare the flight; we are going back to New York right away,” I instructed Sam, his expression overwhelmed, a glimmer of hope and excitement spreading across his face. I could sense his excitement; it was readable, like an open book. We were going back to base, and he wouldn’t need to suffer the torment caused by my lonely heart anymore.“Don’t get too excited yet,” I muttered, trying to dash his hopes, and my words hit their mark. His head lowered into the tablet he held, masking the sudden frown on his face. While sitting, I couldn’t bear a single moment of thi

That creeping feelingThe edges of my muscles tingled as she made her way into the private room. my heart couldn't stop longing for a touch, to taste what was beneath those tight cocktail slit that was just above her thigh, enough to reveal all that was there. This bitch really got me all turned on, I cursed in my subconsciousness, biting the inner part of my lips, my desire intensified, my cock hardened. This wasn’t the plan. I didn’t bring her into my chambers for this! How could I have been so shallow, even for a second, to think I could withstand the hot figure beneath the dress? My thoughts broadened, but deep down, I kept cursing myself, continually throwing darts at my conscience, watching her approach seductively towards the luxurious bed situated near the left side of the window. The room was large, and with every step she took, my desire for her grew. She was really a trained slut and was just playing games with my heart and emotions. My gaze never left that curvy, seductiv

That can't be true!Celine’s pov"Jess, girl, you look insanely hot—more beautiful than I ever imagined. I mean, you've changed so much," Evelyn praised, her hands moving quickly from my face to my shoulders in a split second. "To think I underestimated your looks over the video calls. It's just not adding up," she exclaimed, surprise spreading across her face."Evelyn, stop. You’re making me blush already," I said, shrugging a bit to free myself from her touch. She was just a friend, though she could be dramatic at times. "How can you say I look prettier than before? Haven’t I been communicating with you all along?"She groaned, forcing a frown. Was she serious now? Or had she really pulled me all the way from Italy for this?“You're not serious with this crummy makeup and stunt, are you?” I asked, knowing she wouldn’t stand a chance if I turned the tables on her."Now tell me, aren't you looking gorgeous too? Or haven't you noticed quite a difference in your appearance?" I teased. A

My son, Harry!“What a small world,” she muttered.“Yes, indeed,” I said, lost in thought, my gaze fixed on an unidentified object, staring at nothing specific. It was as if my mind had numbed while I pictured the shocking scenario.“That's not all, girl.” Her voice snapped me back to reality, and my heart was on high alert, racing faster than a roller coaster. “Rumor has it that Anderson had a secret business deal with Jack. You remember Jack?” I nodded, still struck dumb by the news.“Yes, him. Jack was actually the one who initiated the sale to Anderson,” she said.“What?” It was a revelation that hit me hard. To think that Jack had slipped out of my mind all these years was unsettling. I couldn't comprehend or make sense of the scenario—Jack, Anderson, initiating the sale—it didn’t add up.If Jack initiated the sale of the company, it meant there was more hidden behind the scenes than anyone could see. It meant he might have had a hand in what happened years ago or was somehow con

Dungeon Celine's POVWalking past the hallway, I gasped, holding my breath as I took in the surroundings. A tiny pang pulled at me, but then a surge of determination suddenly took hold of my being. I wasn't used to places like this, yet I snapped back to focus as I stepped into the lounge.“Ma'am, what do you need?” a waitress asked, walking toward me. I glanced around, taking in the sight of the place. It revealed a more intense environment, a mix of individuals. Some had a dreaded appearance, wearing rugged, torn jeans or disheveled suits. A few others, more decently dressed, were all engrossed in their activities and fun.I found an empty table at the other end of the hall, away from the cramped seats and the litter of bottles beneath many of the tables. “Just give me water,” I said curtly, and the waitress hurried off to fulfill my request. My heart raced wildly, but I knew I had to end all of this once and for all. The leader of this particular group controlled the other organiz

ForbiddenQuickly brushing my hands off, a cool shiver ran down my spine. In a moment of clarity, I realized what had just happened, which jolted me. I reached for her hands, tapping gently, but there was no response.“Gosh, what have I done?”I hastily pulled away from her and stroked her hair, letting my fingers trail down the side of her neck. It was instantly cold, and I jerked backward in shock. My body broke into a cold sweat despite the chills running through me. This can’t be happening. No!“Mum!” I called to her, but there was no response. My body trembled slightly. I raised her hands gently, but they dropped slowly, and that was when the true reality struck me. No! No! What have I done? I slammed my hands hard on the couch, making a reverberating noise that echoed through the entire room. Amidst my worries and misery, I still realized that I had just done something I shouldn't have.“Mum!” I called again, my eyes fixed on her face, which was still innocent, her eyes slightly

Her deathHarry's POV A surge of relief washed through me as I anticipated her call. I had sent her another gift just yesterday and hoped she had received it.Morning had already come, yet I hadn’t heard from her; not even a text. The earlier relief was gradually fading away. She was right to treat me the way she did; I had tried so hard to absorb that truth. Still, I couldn’t shake off the urge to go see Mum. She had given me false information about Dad’s death, but Louis had advised me to calm down before confronting her. That advice, however, had lingered long enough. It had been two days of intense worry and sorrow. Each time there was a glimmer of hope, it drowned in an ocean of grief and bitterness. I doubted if I could hold on any longer; I couldn’t heal unless I sorted things out quickly. I pulled my phone out of my breast pocket and hesitated for a moment before typing a text to Celine.Countless texts had been sent over the past few days, yet none received a reply. Still, I

Another Battle? My heart wandered to what Sharon had said earlier, and I couldn't shake off the urgency I felt to meet her. She sounded too serious, and whatever important information she had to disclose, I knew it was related to the past. As much as I never wanted to revisit my past, I still needed to know what it was all about.I had the urge to call Evelyn, but I restrained myself. There was no need to burden her with my issues anymore. I tried to grasp sleep throughout the night as I awaited the morning, but all my efforts proved futile, and I was already giving up in frustration.I reached my hand to the head of the bed where my podcast device was. I tapped to play the popular music streaming on it, tuning it to a lower key and pitch before slumping back onto the bed. I carefully freed my mind from all worries, and soon, the music synced with my heart. Slowly, I closed my eyes, and soon, I drifted off to sleep.*****Sitting in this popular resort at the far-right end of the larg

Intriguing SuspenseCeline’s POVMy heart shattered even more as I watched his reactions and flimsy flirting excuses, which he thought would win me over. I felt like I was losing it. He had taken something precious from me in the past, and as if that wasn’t enough, he still had to hide it from me; an act I despised so much.“I never want to see you near us again,” I cursed, looking intensely at his derailed expression, masked with even greater pain and hurt.“Please, for the…”“Just go,” Henry cut in, and he swallowed hard. I hated seeing my son angry, just as much as I felt the pain of a reopened wound. If my mum were alive, I wouldn’t have gone through the torment I endured. I doubted I would have faced the ridicule and humiliation his singular action caused me. Glaring at him, still crouched on the floor, I felt like strangling the life out of him for taking what was so precious and priceless to me, yet I tried so hard to restrain the urge.“Why are you still pleading? I distinctly remembered tucking the diary into the shelves, so how did it end up here, on the floor in this room?"How did you get that?" I asked, the perplexed look on my face betraying my confusion. She scoffed, shooting me a deadly stare that set my entire body aflame. "You still have the nerve to ask that? Isn't it your handwriting on it? You're just so pathetic," Evelyn spat, and I winced."Just get out of here this minute!" Celine barked, and my heart sank even more. Her pained expression and the tears on her cheeks tugged at something inside me. I tried to reach for her, but Evelyn slapped my hand away, rolling her eyes derisively."Never try that again," she snapped. Celine said nothing, her head buried in her hands, her face a picture of intense disdain.I crouched low, dropping to my knees. "Please, I'm so sorry for whatever you saw in

You know you don’t need to walk fast in your condition. Slow and steady,” I teased, and she scoffed.“So, I shouldn’t walk fast anymore? Where is it written?” she snapped.“In your antenatal instructions, of course.”“No, you could have just called me a little child that should crawl instead.” She finally reached me.“You aren’t dressed yet.”“Yeah, but I’m going upstairs to get dressed now. Aren’t you coming over to help me with buttoning up?” I asked.“You should have just taken me along with you. It’s obvious you were actually waiting for me, pretending not to care,” she teased, com

I only pulled away when I realized she was out of breath. My gaze fixed on her intensely; I could see the fire and sparks buried within her eyes. I wasn't going to let go. I had long desired this moment, but somehow, I was denied it by the circumstances that followed thereafter.I kissed her again, enjoying every moment as she groaned, feeling the tingling sensation in her body. Her hands strayed to my back, her fingers digging deep through my shirt. I kissed her even more, lifting her to sit on the table while keeping our lips locked. My hands moved through her long, flowing gown, sliding up from her knees to her thighs. Her groans intensified, stirring my desire to continue. Or was he just putting on an act to get at me?“Why did you say that?” Evelyn asked, her eyes widened in shock as well. I silently thanked her in my heart for speaking up.“Because it's not the right time for that. Besides, my top priority is to ensure she's in perfect condition and not the other way around.”“Alright, if you say so,” Evelyn exclaimed.“But Dad, I can't wait for us to be one happy family again. Besides, Mum isn’t complaining about it, is she?” He turned to ask me, and I froze in place.“Mum!”“Yes, cutie, not really,” I replied, and he grinned.“You see, Mum isn’t complaining.”“Can we drop this issue for now?
