Chapter 61

Jack's POV

Her death took away a part of my being that couldn't be replaced by any other, leaving me broken and deranged. I felt like I had lost everything, and the only part of me still alive was torn into pieces. It's been three solid years, and still, I couldn't get her off my mind or gain control of myself.

If only she had agreed to do my bidding, if only she had given our love that one chance and opportunity to grow, maybe by now, I wouldn't be this broken. But maybe she still would have been gone. It's been three long years, yet everything I had ever planned was just buried with her in my heart.

I turned my gaze outside the car window as Sam drove me to the meeting spot. My eyes wandered around, lost in my thoughts, as I watched the bustling city of Italy, absent-minded to the cars and rushing passersby. The traffic light turned red, and Sam pressed the brakes, narrowing his eyes at me through the rearview mirror. I could sense his thoughts without even looking directly at him.
